Chapter sixty-nine: Harvest of mischief
(Y/n) wandered around. She had a good day with Caesar and Santana four days ago. It was quite fun to play with the both of them. But, she had another person to play with as well. Shigechi. The plum haired pillar child walked to the convenience store and bought some snacks and some drinks. She walked to the park and waited for Shigechi to show up. The little girl left the bag of snacks on the ground and put a turtle charm on top of the bag before jumping up into a tree to hide. She just needed to wait until Shigechi was there before she surprised him. She giggled to herself and waited.
Red eyes scanned the park, looking for signs of the rotund boy. She kept all of her senses sharp to look for the boy. A golden bug caught her attention before the round body of her human friend appeared from the path. He saw the bag of snacks and the turtle charm and waddled up to it. His hand picked up the charm and looked at the shiny object before looking around.
"Is she here, where is she?," the human boy asked and his blue eyes looked around. Yet, he never looked up. (Y/n) smiled as she watched Shigechi try to find her. She had bought some bubble mixture to blow bubbles with. She took that out of her bag and blew some towards the boy. The little girl quietly laughed at his reaction to suddenly seeing pretty bubbles. Shigechi followed the bubbles and tried to grab them, making them pop. It was a game to pop them before they reached the ground.
Shigechi was greeted with some laughter as he popped the bubbles. He looked up and saw the little girl in the tree he was under, her red eyes looked to shine like the rubies his mom sometimes wore. (Y/n) hopped out of the tree and blew some more bubbles, "Hi Shigechi! Did you have a good week in school?" "Yeah, I had a tough time with the pop quiz.," the rotund boy replied. The little plum haired girl smiled, "I'll help you study if you need it." "I'd really appreciate it.," the boy replied as the little girl picked up one of the Harvest that ran about their feet. "I brought some snacks and drinks.," (y/n) smiled to her new friend. Shigechi looked excited after hearing that there were snacks.
He two children set out to play after this. Chasing each other and blowing bubbles. Only stopping to take a break when Shigechi hot tired or when (y/n)'s time was up in the sun. The shade of the tree was their haven, protecting them from the sun. The two would open a snack to share and drink a bit of their drinks. The Harvest stand always wandering about as they played and rested. The plum haired pillar made it a game to see how many she could catch. The most she got in her small arms was three. The bugs were able to wriggle out of her arms and she was laughed at by Shigechi. Her pouty face puffed up her cheeks to him. "It's not funny!," the child pouted. "You can only catch three of them!," Shigechi laughed and rolled over from laughing so much.
(Y/n) pouted at the laughing boy before making him laugh more by tickling him. By the time she was done, Shigechi was crying from laughing so much. He had a pink face and was trying to catch his breath. The pillar girl let him catch his breath and pulled him up to a sitting stance. She gave him his drink to help him cool down and a snack that he liked. The red eyed little girl sat beside him and nibbled on a cream filled bun.
"The turtle charm... is that for me?," Shigechi asked his friend and got a nod. "It is, I saw it and thought you would like it.," the little girl answered, "I bought it with my allowance." "It's the same charm I saw and wanted a while ago after getting my pet turtle.," the boy said with a smile. (Y/n) took his hand and placed the beautifully crafted turtle charm in it. Shigechi's face lit up and he squeezed the much smaller child in a bear hug. Her tiny body squished in the tight hug. "Thank you! You're so nice! Nice and pretty like a princess!," the rotund boy said as he squeezed the little girl. Shigechi kept hugging until the little girl made a squeak.
They sat under the tree and ate their snacks. It was a nice day. The cans Shigechi brought sat in front of them. The small pillar girl pulled out the bubbles again and started to blow more. "These remind me of Caesar's. He makes good bubbles.," the little girl smiled. Shigechi saw the signs of his stand coming back. The little girl climbed back up the tree to keep a lookout while Shigechi gathered up the coins with his harvest. The little girl stretched and yawned. It was a nice and warm Saturday. She was happy. (Y/n) closed her eyes and rested a little. She felt her father. His life force was strong, yet his consciousness was almost gone. His grip on himself was fading. "Daddy.," the little girl spoke to herself, to her father, "I wish I could find a way to Bring you home."
She felt the twirling and swirling of them in space. She also felt like something was embracing her, it did not feel like human or pillar arms. The young girl did not mind this embrace, as it was a comforting feeling. The plum haired child rested on the branch of the tree she was in. Her cloak covered her body. Silvery horns sensed the area in order to keep a lookout for her friend and herself in case of enemy stand users nearby. She would hate it if something ever happened to this sweet boy. The girl felt everything around her, the winds, the heartbeats of surrounding creatures, the power of the stand below her. (Y/n) opened her eyes as she heard the clinking of coins, the Harvest colony was piling up the coins they found. All small coins.
The plum haired pillar sat up and felt whatever was embracing her leave. She wanted it to come back. Her red eyes watched as the little Harvest colony piled up the coins. Her horns alerted her to a pair of stand users approaching. She climbed higher into the tree and looked over the park. Josuke and Okuyasu. They were following the stand. 'Why the heck are they following Harvest?,' (y/n) thought to herself and watched her stepbrother and his dim-witted friend. The two teens were hiding in the bushes and watching Shigechi's Harvest. The little girl could not be seen by them.
She could throw something at them. Or even jump onto Josuke to scare them. That would have been funny. The young pillar girl yawned, the warm air was making her feel sleepy. (Y/n) saw that Shigechi had moved and was now looming over her stepbrother and his best friend. The little girl saw how scared her brother was before Shigechi started introducing himself and talking about himself. The boy seemed to be legitimately happy to know that there were more who could see Harvest. The little pillar girl heard him talk about his stand to Josuke and Okuyasu before he mentioned about another person with power to them, he was talking about her. "I was playing here with a princess.," the boy spoke to the two teens, "She's very pretty, but she can be a little scary."
"Oh? Is she somewhere nearby right now?," Josuke asked. He got a nod from Shigechi as the boy pointed to the tree the little girl was in, "She likes to be in the tree. It's safe there for her." The rotund boy was gathering up all of the money his stand collected as the teens watched. The boys talked about how what Shigechi was doing was good. Red eyes saw the gears turning inside of Okuyasu's head. He was having some 'get rich quick' scheme running in his head. (Y/n) had a feeling that she should interfere before anyone was hurt by greed.
(Y/n) jumped out of the tree and landed on Josuke's shoulder, "Josuke~ what do you hint you are doing with my friend?" Shigechi looked at the two, "You already know each other?" "Yeah, she's my stepsister. My father adopted her Sixty-one years ago.," Josuke answered and felt his cheeks being pulled, "Ow." The tiny pillar grinned, "I hope you three aren't going to do anything stupid." "We're not. We're going to help the economy.," the British-Japanese teen replied and took the little girl off of his shoulder to hold her out in front of him. He was surprised by a little kiss on his nose, "Good."
The surprised look on her stepbrother's face made her giggle. Okuyasu was poking at the Harvest he was able to catch. It did not really react. Shigechi was counting the money he got from the harvest. Josuke held his sister, "Hey Shigechi, we could find even more things that people forgot about with your stand." "Really?," the boy asked the older teen and listened to Josuke explain his plans. (Y/n) was right again, Josuke was thinking of a way to get money quick. The plum haired girl sighed. She knew that too much money between all of them would make them greedy. It was human nature.
"Hey, Josuke. Shigechi needs to have friends he can relate to. Take care of him okay? He's a good boy who is lonely.," the little girl smiled, "I think having you and Okuyasu will be good for him." "Hey, we'll do our best.," the pompadour wearing teen smiled, "I know you'll kick my ass otherwise." "You're right.," the tiny pillar chimed and was set down, "Did Koichi tell you about the serial killer?" "He did. And we also went to say hello to Reimi and your family.," the pompadoured teen replied, squatting next to his tiny stepsister. Okuyasu also squatted by the little girl, "Hey, do you think I could get to watch the next sparring match against Santana?" (Y/n) gave him a nod, "Only if you don't mind my family watching with you."
Josuke stood up to talk to Shigechi again with Okuyasu, they were calling him a very good person by putting currency back into the system. Shigechi offered the money to the boys, Josuke declined it. Okuyasu pulled Josuke aside and talked with Josuke. The little girl followed the two. Okuyasu told Josuke that he will accept anything from anyone, anything except for a cold. 'What about an ass kicking?,' (y/n) asked herself and she walked back to her new friend. He offered her some of his money as well. She declined, "What do my kind need with money?" The round boy with her thought a bit, she already had money from how she dressed. The girl leaned in to whisper to the boy, "If they do anything bad, I'll kick their butts."
She picked up the trash and threw it away as The two teens pulled her friend away from her. "I was not done playing with him.," the little girl said and her cheeks puffed up in a pout, "Jerks." (Y/n) huffed and walked Into town. She walled past the convenience store to see her dark skinned uncle trip a punk that he did not like the look of. It looked to be one of the punks that made fun of Josuke before. The boy ran off after getting sufficiently spooked. Esidisi was cackling. "Hey there, little lamb, what's the matter?," The warrior asked and crouched down to get closer to his niece's height. "Josuke took away my friend when I was playing with him!," The little girl pouted. "Is that so? How rude.," the dark skinned warrior chuckled, "At least you have us to play with."
(Y/n) pouted and hopped up to the roof of the Convenience store. Esidisi followed as Wamuu appeared to talk as well. They began to talk about her new friend when the good and purple bug like stand that Shigechi controlled ran by. "Huh? What was that?," Wamuu asked. "That was one of Shigechi's harvest...," the little girl sighed, "Looks like the kid is being used to collect money." "One of the oldest forms of corruption.," Esidisi sighed with a grin on his face, "Say, I've heard of some things." "Hm?," the little girl looked to her uncles. "When Okuyasu came by earlier this week, I heard him complain about strange occurrences at his house. Want to check it out?," the dark skinned warrior asked with a wide smile.
"Sounds like something to do while Josuke and the others mess around.," the little girl said and hopped down from the convenience store roof. She walked while her two uncles followed, her mother stayed with Reimi. The pillar pack made their way to the residential area. (Y/n) saw Koichi on the way and waved to him. Koichi waved back and walked up to the group, "(y/n), Wamuu, Esidisi, how are all of you?" "Doing okay. I'm going to Okuyasu's house to check something out since he and Josuke took the friend I was playing with.," the little girl pouted. "Does this friend happen to be kind of short and chubby?," Koichi asked. "Yep. That's Shigechi, he's a sweet boy. He just needs some friends and role models.," the little girl replied, "I hoped Josuke could help."
Koichi nodded and looked around, "Do you see Yukako anywhere?" (Y/n) shook her head and the silver haired male sighed a breath of relief, "She's been following me around. I'm getting paranoid." "Want to come with me to investigate what's going on at Okuyasu's place?," the little girl asked. "Sure. I need a break from all of this.," the green eyed teen said and felt the little girl's warm hand take his.
They walked together to the Nijimura house. It was fixed up much better than it used to be. The little girl walked up and knocked on the door. She pressed her ear up to the door and waited. Her uncles and Koichi waited with her. "What are you-," Esidisi started to ask before the girl put her hand up. Soft gurgles were on the other side of the door. She tapped the door again. The knock pattern was returned by someone on the other side as the little girl grinned, "We're coming in." The little girl opened the door and the green lumpy remains of the Nijimura father was on the other side. He was making content and happy gurgles at the ones he saw in front of him. His arms began to wave around like an excited child. "Hi there. I hope you don't mind that we came to investigate. We heard you have something strange going on here.," (y/n) spoke to the former human with a smile. The green mound of flesh took her hand and held it while gurgling. "It's okay to come in.," the little girl said, "I think he was lonely."
Koichi and the two ghosts walked into the house. It was much nicer than before. A beautiful old house. There were decorations and pictures on the walls. The Nijimura father waddled around with the little girl following him. His content gurgles was the only sound for a bit. "I don't think we can get answers from this lobotimized human.," Esidisi spoke and poked the green cooing mound of skin, "It's soft." Wamuu looked around, "Esidisi and I will go on ahead and look around. What I heard is that strange happenings are occuring, like that of a haunting."
The two ghosts disappeared, leaving the girl and Koichi alone. Koichi looked rattled, "Wait. Haunting?!"
