Chapter Nineteen: the arena
Midnight...
The moon was full and there was a clean breeze blowing over the arena. Kars, Wamuu, Lisa Lisa and (y/n) all waited for Joseph to arrive. The little pillar child was watching everything. The vampires talking and taking bets, Lisa Lisa returning her gaze, her father watching for Joseph carefully and Wamuu looking around as well.
The girl was getting impatient and tapped on her uncle's leg, "Wamuu." The warrior knelt by the little girl to let her get onto his shoulder, he was careful not to hurt her with the spikes that pierced his collarbone. "Will you be cheering for me, Lady (y/n)?," Wamuu asked the child. He felt her tiny arms around his neck as she hugged him, "Of course I will, I always do!"
Lisa Lisa watched the whole interaction between the two while Kars was keeping watch. The plum haired child happily held onto her warrior uncle and felt his smile.
The child looked down to the woman who was still watching her, Wamuu followed her gaze. "I won't let any hamon users get you.," Wamuu stated as he looked down at the woman. "If Jojo and I are the victors in this, I promise that we will not hurt (y/n).," Lisa Lisa said. "If you are the victors, the outcome is yet to be seen.," Kars spoke with an edge in his voice. (Y/n) felt something from her father, she felt him giving off an energy he has only done once a year. Lisa Lisa must have somewhat reminded him of (y/n)'s mother with her fighting spirit and cleverness.
Kars has a harsh gaze down on the hamon using woman. She must have been wondering why there was a sudden increase in hostility towards her. The brunette did not know that she reminded the leader of the pillar man of the human woman that birthed his beloved daughter. The air was heavy and hostile. It lightened as some vampires ran off to retrieve some things. All they needed now was Joseph to show up with the stone.
It was almost midnight when (y/n) heard footsteps and smelled Joseph's scent. The girl had perched on her father and was watching he brunet British teen approach. Joseph's scarf blew in the wind behind him. He held up a necklace with a large stone in it and smaller stones surrounding. The red stone was beautiful. (Y/n) felt some sort of warmth looking at it. It was like she was not the only one there with her father and Wamuu, like another presence was there. The girl looked back at Wamuu, he was smiling as he was anticipating this fight. The girl looked back to the gemstone, "It is pretty." "Whether or not it is real is the question.," Kars said to his daughter and watched the brunet man below them.
Joseph lit a match and held it up to the jewel. A bright light beam shot out from the stone. It was the real stone. Kars and Wamuu jumped down, (y/n) held onto her father. The girl dropped off of the man once he landed. She looked to Joseph as her father spoke, "So it is real. We accept your bargain, we shall fight each of you one on one." "Joseph and Wamuu will have a chariot duel based on the ones we watched a over two thousand years ago.," the little girl explained, "Lisa Lisa, you shall fight my father afterwards. You will be allowed to choose what weapon you will use."
Lisa Lisa walked towards Joseph and the brunet gave her the necklace that held the stone. (Y/n) noticed a photo frame in his other hand. The young Joestar showed it to his hamon coach. The plum haired girl was finally able to see them clearly side by side and was able to cross reference their scents. Lisa Lisa was Joseph's mother. Her hamon had to have kept her young for so long. Joseph had no idea that he was standing next to his mother. This made (y/n) feel a little bad, she never even knew her mother and now her father was set to fight and kill Joseph's mother before he even learned who she was.
The brunette woman explained that she was on the boat that Jonathan and Dio had sunk in, she was rescued from the burning ship by Erina.
Those were names that (y/n) recognized as her other family. A sharp pain in her heart came from hearing the names. She felt her father look down at her, he must have sensed her emotional pain through their blood link. The young pillar stood by her father as Joseph began acting like a fool again, trying to tease Lisa Lisa.
Kars had enough of this foolishness and ordered the fires to be lit. The flames shot forth from the center of the arena. The girl heard the vampires roar in anticipation of this, they were ready to see a fight to the death. (Y/n) looked between her family and the two humans. She wondered what the future held if either party won. Her father and Wamuu would most certainly make the earth safe for her and bring a new age of terror for the human race. Humanity would live on if Lisa Lisa and Joseph won, her kind would be forgotten by humanity. She and Santana would be the only ones left.
She was scared of this. Being alone and forgotten, but she was also scared of have people she loved die. The little girl clutched Esidisi's horn in her hand. She had found it when she and Kars went to Italy to find out what happened to the warrior. It was all that was left of him, save his clothes. A faint heat still burned in the core of the horn. Joseph still held the silver plated photo frame, he did not see the little pillar sneaking up to him. She was able to take the pictures from him and escape before he caught her. She hid behind Wamuu and looked at the pictures. Erina looked so pretty in the picture. The girl held it up, "I'll take care of this for you."
Now they just had to wait for the chariots. The ground rumbled as the chariots approached. (Y/n) could feel the energy of the horses turned vampire as they came charging towards the group. "So they are here, good.," Kars spoke as he and Wamuu waited on the ground. The horses had gone berserk. They were charging at full speed towards the three before them. The vampires driving the chariots shouted for Wamuu and Kars to move. Wamuu stood and glared at the horses, the overwhelming energy he gave off made the horses stop in their tracks.
The proud warrior inspected the horses and found them sufficient, "What fine steeds." He looked down to the child who came to look at the beasts her masks turned into vampires, "Don't you think, Lady (y/n)?" The Child smiled up to him and was picked up so she could stroke the nose of this big horses. The blond warrior set the child on the back of one of the horses as her father explained to the humans what these were.
"They are horses we turned into vampires, (y/n) made a mask that was specifically for horses and we sent our servants to find suitable horses for them.," Kars said, "Like she mentioned before, Wamuu and Jojo will have a chariot race."
Vampires cheered for the exciting battle to come, their bloodlust was flaring. The plum haired child on the vampire horse was taken off by one of the servant vampires and carefully set on the ground so she could run into the arena and find a place to be seated and watch the duel. Kars allowed her to do so, knowing she was safe as long as he and the vampires were around.
The little girl hopped up to the ancient arena. She was looking for a place to sit where she would be able to see everything. Her small foot hit a loose edge and she stumbled. Only to be pulled up by something. For an instant, she saw a dark skinned hand holding her arm. She looked around and found nobody with her. Esidisi's horn was warm in her bag. It was like she was not alone. The girl heard the roaring of the vampires in the distance and their chanting of Wamuu's name. Soon the battle will begin. A feeling of two people beside her made her look around again, again she saw nothing.
Her heart was starting to speed up a bit. She backed up and ran into a pair of legs. She looked up to see her father standing over her. His red eyes were looking down at her with a bit of concern. "(Y/n), is there something wrong? I felt you panic.," the man asked and crouched in front of his daughter as the woman, Lisa Lisa watched them interact again while the two combatants got in their places. (Y/n) looked past him, in the arena stands behind him was the woman she kept seeing. This time a large male frame was with her in the shadows, watching the girl and her father.
Kars looked back at the area as the two forms disappeared, "(y/n)?" "I saw the woman again.," the little girl said. Her father's face shifted to a slightly surprised face then it turned stony again, "It's okay. Let's just watch the battle." The red eyed man picked up his daughter to carry her to where he would be sitting to watch. They were right beside Lisa Lisa. The girl stood between her father and Lisa Lisa while the man announced for the race to begin when the moon reappears from behind a cloud.
(Y/n) looked at the beautiful full moon as it disappeared behind a cloud. The red eyed girl heard the vampires chant Wamuu's name more as the time drew closer. She walked up to the ledge and spoke to both of the combatants, "Jojo, Wamuu, give a good fight, Okay? Best of luck to you both!" Wamuu gave her a nod as Joseph gave her one as well, the child could see he was scheming again. He was looking around at the rubble at the base of his chariot. The girl looked at the column in the arena and saw one of the vampire servants was placing a giant hammer on the column. She grinned, "Wamuu, can have have a piece of Jojo to eat when you win?" She heard Wamuu chuckle, "We shall see. But, didn't you already eat Caesar?"
The girl grinned and hopped back between her father and Lisa Lisa. The child sat down and looked at the picture in the frame. It was nice to see the familiar faces in the picture. The girl closed the picture frame, "I know your secret, Lisa Lisa. Your blood and body scent told me everything." (Y/n) felt the woman look down at her before returning to look at the two combatants in the arena. The girl knew that she had unnerved the woman slightly. The child pulled out the old doll that she had kept with her the entire time. The doll was still in its pristine and beautiful condition. It was one of the girl's prized treasures as it was given to her by a true gentleman.
The child played with the doll as she waited for the duel to begin. The moon's glow was faint but increasing in intensity. Lisa Lisa yelled at Joseph to stop fooling around and get back on his chariot. (Y/n)'s eyes rose as she saw the light getting brighter. The moon was almost out from behind the clouds. The moon's glow shone past the clouds and Kars gave the announcement for the chariot duel to start. Joseph's chariot took off while Wamuu's was stuck. He had piled rubble under the wheels of the chariot to slow Wamuu's progress. Vampires yelled at him for cheating while Joseph quipped back that all is fair in survivial. Wamuu's chariot finally gets going, but is far behind Joseph's.
"Jojo thinks he is clever. But Wamuu is a fighting genius. Jojo will have to come up with very clever plans to beat Wamuu.," (y/n) spoke, "How well did you train him, Lisa lisa?" The girl's red eyes looked up to the woman as she grinned with a sharp toothed smile, "Unlike Caesar and Jonathan, Jojo is not really the type to take training seriously. Unless you found a way to really get him to commit, he is not going to survive. Wamuu is utterly brutal in his pure power and skill."
Their eyes gazed back to the chariot race before them as Joseph grabbed the Sledgehammer. It was going to be an all out battle. One for the fate of the world. The child between the two enemies hugged her doll. She would be okay in either ending, but she feared for her family. Both of her families. Her deep running loyalty and care for her biological family and her emotional ties to the Joestars.
Her red eyes gazed up towards a platform near the track. The woman was there. Her smile was kind and gentle. She and Lisa Lisa looked similar, but this woman that only the girl seemed to see looked a little like her too. The male figure was again obscured by a shadow cast over him. Whoever they were, they were here to observe the fate that would befall the earth as well.
