Chapter forty one: Cairo
"I HATE YOU!," (y/n) screamed and she ran as fast as her legs could take her, leaving Joseph and the others stunned. She kept running after gaining an understanding of what direction she was going in. Her strides turned into bounding leaps that made her seem to glide across the landscape like it was nothing, she followed the Nile river as the sun went down. If she followed it, she would eventually reach Cairo. Where her brother was. She could end it for everyone right there.
Her plum hair tailed behind her as she ran and alighted on different structures when she made it into different cities. Her rage was beginning to wear off after she passed through five major cities, with the settlement of her rage came the wave of exhaustion. She did not stop and kept pressing on until she collapsed in the dirt along the road.
'Almost there.,' she thought to herself and picked herself up, 'Just have to make it to Cairo.' She continued on. Even though her body was telling her to slow down and take a nap. She could not sleep. She had to get to Cairo and end this whole thing. She had to end it for everyone. The girl kept pressing forward. Going on and on until the lights of Cairo lit up the horizon. She had made it on her own. She forced her body to shake off its sleepiness as she walked into Cairo as the sun rose.
Thanks to the Nile river, cities like these have grown on an otherwise completely desert country. Why Dio decided that a desert country would be the best to start conquering the world, (y/n) did not know. She walked through the streets as the humans in the city woke up from their slumbers and went to work while the ones who were out at night hid from the rising sun. The streetlamps dimmed as their usefulness had run out in the day. The plum haired pillar child wondered where she would find her brother.
She could always looked at places that he might like based on his tastes. He had expensive tastes. He always liked the expensive and fanciful things. So she would have to investigate the more expensive homes in the area. There was also the fact that he may have servants, so she would have to be careful of them if she did find her brother's lair. The plum haired girl stumbled a little but caught herself. She had no time to be sleepy and weak. She needed to find her brother.
(Y/n) pulled her hood over her head to hide her horns and shield herself from the harsh sunlight. 'Now where are you, big brother?,' the child thought to her self as she wandered around. She was hungry. Healing her body was taking a toll on her. She needed to eat something. Her red eyes scanned over the streets as humans came out of the stone houses and went about their lives. They had no idea of the dangerous man that was nearby or what he was capable of. Humans paid little to no attention to the small girl that was wandering the streets.
What could it hurt to find somewhere to rest now that she was in Cairo? She needed food. She needed sleep, but she needed to find her brother. (Y/n) continued to walk and wander until she came to a street of buildings that looked older than the others. These were probably the historical mansions that were very expensive and only used by the wealthiest of Egyptians. The plum haired girl heard a chattering of a bird and looked up to see a falcon flying overhead. The falcon wore a helmet and had a scarf on. Its eyes were watching her as it circled above her.
Something was off about that falcon. She carefully watched the falcon as she passed by the mansion. It had to be someone's pet with how it was dressed. It landed and screeched at her as she was walking away. This made her come back and look at the bird on the fence. "What? Is there something you want?," the girl asked the bird. It bobbed its head and flapped its wigs while making a gutteral crackling noise. "I don't have food for you, I'm trying to find my brother.," the little girl said to the bird as it tilted its head to her and clicked its beak together, "I'm sorry."
She walked away from the gate and the bird, she took her porcelain doll from her bag and hugged it. The crack was spread right across its face. This made the little girl sad. Her once immaculate doll was now cracked. She continued walking and exploring the area. Her exhaustion was catching up to her as she was walking along, she finally turned back and walked back along the long street that led to those historic mansions.
(Y/n) was struggling to keep going and keep her eyes open. That water stand user really made her use a lot of energy to heal from her injuries. Her red eyes snapped open after shutting when she heard the bird screech again. The gate he was on was open. The young girl looked into the gate, but decided against going in. She was not supposed to trespass onto private property. The plum haired pillar sat down outside the gate and dozed there as the bird watched on. It made some soft cackling noises and not much else.
A slight gentle breeze blew the wavy hair of the pillar child as she dozed in the morning light. Her arms held a porcelain doll. Her body was covered by a thick cloak that was supposed to protect her from the sun. Her dozing was interrupted by the bird making its ungodly shriek again. Her red eyes opened to meet with hazel ones. A man was in front of the dozing child. His face held strange markings and his hair was a greenish color. His earrings were in the shape of a 'T' and a 'D'. His shirt had a heart on it. "May I inquire as to what you are doing out here, little one?," the man asked. The plum haired girl let out a little yawn, "I am looking for my brother, sir."
"Your brother?," He echoed in a questioning voice, "May I ask why you are looking for your brother? And where your parents are." "My parents are dead. I need to speak to my brother about family matters.," the girl said as she rubbed her eyes. The green haired man put his hand in front of his chest, "Would you like help to find your brother? My master might be able to help you." The little girl gave him a side eye. She was suspicious of how fast he was offering to help her. His hazel eyes left her red ones and they fell onto the doll in her arms, "Oh, that is a lovely doll. Authentic Victorian porcelain, correct? These are very rare, and it is in almost perfect condition!"
"My other brother Gave it to me before he died.," the little girl said, "It is one of my most prized possessions." The man continued to look at the doll, "I think I can fix that crack." This got the little girl's attention as he held his hand out to her, "How about this, You can speak to my master about finding your brother and I will fix your doll?" The bird above them made a chattering noise as the little girl took the man's hand. He stood and walked with her into the gate of the mansion, "What is your name, sweetheart?" "(Y/n).," the little girl said as she walked with the green haired man to the house, "What is your name?" "D'Arby. Terence T. D'Arby.," the man answered, "I am the butler to this house and the master."
D'Arby held the door open for the child to walk into. She stepped in and her blood went cold. Something was here in this house. She sniffed the air and she realized why she had the reaction. This was her brother's mansion. The bird outside was her brother's pet, this was her brother's butler. Her red eyes were widened and she looked up to D'Arby. He made a small chuckle and took her hand again, "We have been waiting for you, (y/n). Master DIO has been expecting you."
(Y/n) saw several others in the mansion. These had to be servants of her brother. A man in a heart motif leotard. Some man with odd fashion. A little vampire that made the little girl feel uncomfortable. She followed the butler through the mansion. The home was expansive. It was similar to that of the Joestar mansion and the temples that her family had lived in before. D'Arby stopped and held his hand out for the doll, "May I have the doll? I will fix it. You can follow Vanilla ice to where master DIO is." The girl felt a presence behind her and turned quickly to see the man in the leotard from earlier behind her, this was Vanilla Ice. She felt a stand every from both of them.
She gave the doll to the butler and followed Vanilla ice. The stand users here were powerful. She would have to be very careful with what she did in this mansion. She did not even know what her brother's stand was. She felt herself getting closer and closer to her vampire older brother with every step she took behind this 'Vanilla Ice'. This man's hair was long and brunet, he had violet eyes and a heart motif going on all over his outfit and the circlet he wore. His legs were bare and he wore a leotard and a jacket with a pair of matching boots. All a monochrome purplish color.
She followed the man up the stairs and he knelt in front of a door, "Master. I apologize for disturbing you, but I have a guest for you." (Y/n) waited for a response. The seconds that ticked by felt like an eternity before she heard the voice of the man she had not seen in one hundred years speak. It sounded like him but had a little bit of a hypnotic reverberation in it, "Oh? And who may it be, Ice?" The girl stepped closer to the door, she felt the sharp glare from the man beside her.
"Dio?," she asked the one behind the door, "Is it really you?" She heard nothing for a bit before his voice came again, "(y/n). So you finally came. Come in, it has been one hundred years since I have seen you face to face." Vanilla ice stood and motioned for the girl to go in, he got annoyed by her hesitation and nudged her in the room and closed the door.
He was obscured by darkness, but the silhouette of that face was clear. It was Dio. She had found her brother. He closed the book in his clawed hands and looked at the child when had just entered his room, "Come here (y/n), my little sister." The girl felt her hesitation melt away. This was the same man she grew up with over a hundred years ago. She walked closer and stumbled a bit. She expected to hit the floor but found herself sitting on the bed next to the blond man, he had his book in his hand again. The whole thing confused the little girl. She was about to land face first on the floor. How was she on the bed?
"You seem to be exhausted, (y/n). Go ahead and rest for now, we can talk later when you have rested.," DIO spoke as he read his book on one hand and the other hand was over the little girl. His scent was now a mix of Jonathan and his own. An oddly sweet and soothing combination. The little girl felt her red eyed grow heavy and her head dropped onto the torso of the blond vampire beside her. The humming that DIO Was doing made her drop off into sleep even faster as she was already tired, the old lullaby helped her even more.
"No matter what happens or what distance is between use, you always find your way back to I, DIO.," the vampire chuckled out, "Right, little sister?" He had not answer as the girl was asleep with her head on his torso. "That's right.," he chuckled to himself as he gave her small head a pat.
