Chapter Fifty-one: a man in a lightbox.

(Y/n) pouted all the way back to America. She had to be flown back so it would mean less chances to escape. Jotaro himself had ordered that. She made it all the way back to America and was transported right to the Speedwagon foundation DC headquarters. The foundation worker had to pick her up and carry her since she was being so stubborn. He was telling her that the checkups weren't that bad and that she would get to see her adopted father afterwards. She dangled in the human's hold like a limp doll and continued to pout.
She did not want to be in America, she wanted to be back in Japan with Josuke. Although, the idea of going to Italy to see Caesar again was nice. The little pillar was placed in one of the rooms that was only available to those with special access. Something she had by default since she was a subject of the foundation as well as a member. However, the worker who put her in was foolish. He did not close the door that had handles out of her reach, he left it slightly ajar.

The little pillar used her nails and her stand to pry the door open and run for it. Now the chase was on. Doctors who knew the girl were trying to catch the little Pilar who was trying to avoid her checkup appointment. She ran from them and deeper into the restricted area. Into the deep and dark parts of the Speedwagon foundation, where all of the ancient artifacts and one Pillar man was being kept. (Y/n) was not allowed down here. But she knew that if she left, she would be caught and she would have needles stuck In her. The shots and blood draw did not hurt for long, but the needles under her skin was a strange feeling and the needles they used were a lot more powerful than the hypodermic needles that they used on normal humans.
She kept running deeper and deeper in to the areas she was not allowed in. Her nose honed in on a particular smell, the only other living pillar. The little plum haired girl looked into the room and saw that there were some men replacing some items in the light box that the pillar man was stored in. They had to be quick and fix the broken lights otherwise He would wake up. (Y/n) watched quietly. The computer screens around the box showed vitals and scans of the last pillar man.

It was almost surreal, seeing him after not seeing him for a long time. She watched as the men were fixing the lights. (Y/n) heard a small sound of shattering glass, one of the new lights that the men had shattered as they were putting them in. This broke the circuit on half of the light box. The old bulbs on the other side of the box were extremely dull and close to blowing out. UV light that was being made by those lights was dull. It was time. (Y/n) felt her warrior's heart rate and breathing spike as he was beginning to wake again. The doctors found her and saw the emergency that she was was watching unfold. The technicians, repairmen and doctors all fled from the room, leaving the girl alone with the warrior she was familiar with.
The rest of the lights blew later. Only the soft glow of the monitors lit the room as stone became flesh once more. The broken parts wiggled and squirmed back together, completing a man who has been asleep for over sixty years. His scarlet eyes darted around to find the one who made him like that. He found no one around. Except for that one little energy he sensed. Kneeling down, he looked under a desk and found little ruby eyes peering back at him.

Santana had awoken.
"(Y/n)," the pillar spoke softly, "What are you doing under there?" He reached under the desk and took the little child out from under it. "Watching you.," the plum haired half pillar answered. The little girl let him put her up on his shoulder as he looked around the room at this new technology. "This is new...," he spoke and touched the monitors, "These are filled with... some sort of energy." "It's has been over sixty years since you went back into hibernation.," (y/n) explained to Santana, "This is the growth of technology since then."
Santana's scarlet eyes looked at the monitors and the images of him and the image of the others on them, "Where is... master Kars? Esidisi.. Wamuu?" "I regret to inform you, they have all been defeated By Joseph Joestar. The same who had made you return to your slumber.," (y/n) said as she hugged the vermillion hair with her tiny hands. The little child felt the rising anger from Santana before the cold sorrow took over. "We are the only ones left.," the child spoke softly as Santana's hand reached up to her and held her small body on his shoulder. Santana quietly pondered what to do.

(Y/n) hugged her guard's head, "Santana, we could try to live out our best life peacefully with humans instead of fighting against them. I already have been." "How? Humans are beneath us.," the Vermillion haired pillar asked, "Humans killed the others." "One did. But then he showed mercy and took care of me, even though I was his enemy's daughter.," the Plum haired girl replied, "Humans are more delicate than us, but they can be just as good companions for us as our fellow species. Like my mother was to my father."
"Your mother...," Santana echoed softly. The vermillion haired pillar crouched and let the girl off of him to kneel before her, "My duty still stands. I will protect you. I will... follow you. You are my superior. Please, instruct me how to be." The little girl knew that she could not convince him otherwise. Santana was trained and raised specifically to be a guard and warrior. The containment box he was in was trashed. There was nobody to put him back into sleep. Joseph was too old and Caesar was not there. She was the one who would have to teach him how to be around humans. Her father may have given up on him, but she would not.

"Get up, Santana. You can start now.," the girl said and looked to the door, "The researchers must have locked the door. I'll take care of it." Santana looked up as the child walked over to the door and raised her hands. She made a motion and the door fell off of its hinges in ribbons. The vermillion haired pillar was instantly impressed by this sudden development of power by the little girl that he was so used to protecting, she could protect herself now.
Her red eyes looked back at him. "Come on. The door is open now.," the child said, "Also, don't attack any humans we come across. They will be scared, but I will deal with them. They will understand once I tell them you are with me." Santana stood, he saw how much she changed. So much more confident and powerful. He knew that if the others were still alive, they would be very proud of her.

The child's little footsteps were echoed by the much larger ones of the pillar following her. Santana did not like humans much, especially after what happened to Ivory. But if the little girl trusted these humans this much, he would give them a chance. Some humans ran up with some devices on their shoulders. Devices that were cut by the force that (y/n) had. Her vermillion haired guard did not have to do anything but watch. "All of you stop it.," the little girl scolded. The little girl kept scolding the researchers and security as they kept coming to try and stop Santana.
It took a while before she was able to explain that she was teaching Santana how to be more peaceful. Since they were the last two, they wanted to be more peaceful. There were not many threats for them to face. Kars was no longer there to have them fight enemies or have violent goals. There was no real reason to fight, other than self defence and hunting. The little girl had to explain to Santana that these humans did not want to hurt him or her, that they would help them. Santana relaxed a little after hearing this.

After showing that she was teaching Santana how to live peacefully, the human researchers also relaxed somewhat. An ancient warrior who has previously proven to be an efficient murder machine would put anyone on edge. The doctors decided that drawing blood samples from the girl would not be the best idea since Santana was watching. He might perceive the blood draws as an act of violence against the child. Instead, the normal physical was done with Santana observing. His watchful gaze made sure that nothing happened to the little one he was protecting.
The doctors asked Santana to do a physical after the tiny pillar had hers. He did everything the doctors asked. They were allowed to freely walk around in the areas that did not have sunlight coming in. In the following days, (Y/n) was teaching Santana how to read and write in different languages. He was quite interested in learning the languages and learning about the technology of the world.

The vermillion haired pillar listened with great interest to the little girl and the humans who would answer his questions about technology. (Y/n) knew that her father was not a fan of technology, so seeing Santana so happy to learn about the world around him was a stark contrast. The child missed her family. She missed playing with Wamuu, teasing Esidisi, being held by her father. All that was left was Santana. The plum haired girl hugged the doll she had, Santana was immediately interested in her doll. "That looks like your mother.," the scarlet eyed pillar man said.
The girl let him hold it, "It is over one hundred years old. A kind and powerful human gave it to me. Only recently did she have to be repaired and looked more like mama." Santana gave the doll back and picked up another book that he found, an encyclopedia of machinery and computers, "Humans have improved so much over the years, yet they have lost the power that they once had. Not many know of that power that Jojo had."

(Y/n) leaned against the big body of her guard as he sat and read. She felt how warm he was. Her red eyes closed and felt his heartbeat. The little girl was happy. "(Y/n), you have met many humans, correct?," Santana asked in a voice that was more confident in his ability to use speech. The little girl gave a small laugh, "I have. And some of them are my friends. I can introduce you to them one day, or night." The vermillion haired man made a small smile, "Night, preferably." The man continued to read the book he found. The small girl knew she would have to ask the researchers to keep him entertained with books and some food after she went back to Japan.
"Santana. I have to go back to Japan.," the plum haired half pillar spoke to her guard, "I'm afraid that I will have to leave you here." Santana turned to the girl with a serious expression. "My duty is to follow and protect you. Your father himself gave me that duty, I failed to keep you from being found by humans before. I won't fail to keep you safe now.," the pillar man said, "I have to stay with you." "Santana.," (y/n) said with a sorrowful tone, "You cannot go with me. There is no way for you to follow me safely. Please stay here and let the researchers find a way to let you come to me. I will be okay, you already have seen my power." Her tiny hands held his large one.

Santana knelt down slowly and pulled the little child close. He pressed his forehead onto hers, letting the child's silvery horns touch his. "When I can, I will come to you.," the vermillion haired man said, "Please be safe." The plum haired girl held his hand on her cheek, "I will. And I will introduce you to my friends when you do." She gave him a kiss on his cheek and a hug around his neck. The little girl looked back to the researcher who came to tell her that it was time to go.
(Y/n) started to walk away then turned back to give him a smile, "I'll see you again, Santana! It will be fun!" The little plum girl left the older pillar with a smile. He smiled and returned to his reading. He felt like it would be okay. They were the last ones, they were much more powerful than humans.  They were basically demigods.
He would just have to wait until he could go to Japan with her after the researchers made something to protect him from the sun's harmful rays.
