Chapter 12
Chapter 12~ Call Backs!
We have arrived back at the Phantomhive estate and my first impression of it...was disastrous! The entire left side of the manor was in shambles. But it was no matter, that night Ciel and I slept almost immediately only to wake up to that.
This morning I had dressed in proper noble lady clothes. I wore an off shoulder dark maroon dress with an underskirt of black. The red fabric was in curved in layers on the skirt. the sleeves were thick straps of black and there was a black bow in the center of my chest with pink and red roses in the middle. I wore black elbow gloves and my hair was up in an elegant curled bun with ringlets hanging at the sides of my face. I wore a matching hat with pink and red roses. I also had a red choker with black lace lining it and regular black heels. We were in the guest dressing room because Ciel's had been part of the ruins.
"When I told you to protect the manor that also means to make sure that it doesn't get destroyed in the process..." Sebastian explained with an annoyed expression.
"We're sorry mister Sebastian..." Three servants apologized.
"Oh! Who might this be?" the maid, she had large circle glasses and beautiful cherry red hair in pigtails. She wore that natural mad uniform but there were buttons down the front of her apron. She also had an adorable accent.
Before Ciel could speak I walked forward and smiled, turning on my noble side, "It's a pleasure to meet you, My name is Siren Amare Sapientia Venatrix Sin. Might I have the pleasure of knowing each of yours?"
They all blushed slightly at my tone of voice and nodded.
"My name's Mey-Rin, yes it is!" The maid said looking proud, I took her hand and squeezed it in a friendly manner while in reality I was gaining information. I was quite impressed that this woman had such impeccable eyesight.
"I'm Bardroy! But you can call me Bard, Miss!" the tall man with dirty blonde hair and blue eyes spoke with an American accent. He wore a chef's outfit and had goggles around his neck along with a cigarette in his mouth.
"Oh how wonderful!" I shook his hand firmly and learned he was once in the army.
"Wow, lass you sure have a firm handshake!" Bard said sounding surprised. I winked and laughed.
"And I'm Finnian, miss! But you can call me Finny!" the short blonde with adorable turquoise eyes and a bright smile greeted me. I smiled and hugged him much to everyone's surprise.
"How adorable! Finnian huh, reminds me of someone I used to know!" I shot a smirk towards Ciel as his cheeks flashed bright red in embarrassment. Partly because he was remembering the circus and partly because he was currently dressing. I learned that the poor sweet gardener was experimented on and now has immense strength.
"Alright everyone back to work!" Sebastian commanded them. They all nodded and scurried off to do their respective chores.
"CCCCCIIIIIIEEEEEELLLLLLLL!!!!!!!" We turned towards the squeal. All of a sudden Ciel was tackled by a girl with blonde hair in pigtails in a bright pink dress. She had beautiful emerald colored eyes. "It's terrible! Mother says that the engagement was called off!"
"I know Lizzie, I'm sorry I just though it was weird that we were to be married even though we are cousins. I care about you but not romantically." Ciel explained once she had released him.
"Oh, well I understand! Now that I think about it it is a bit weird that I would have married my cousin...ick!" the blonde quickly brightened up and smiled warmly at her cousin. Then she noticed me, "Oh my! You look absolutely adorable! My name is Elizabeth Midford! What's your name dear?"
"Siren, Siren Sin..." I curtsied and smiled. This caused the girl to squeal and tackle me with a hug.
"Oh you are just the sweetest thing! You must call me Lizzie, oh but Ciel! Your clothes, we must call Nina!" Lizzie was fretting over Ciel's loss of clothing.
"Easter is coming soon so it does work out wonderfully," I mentioned.
Ciel seemed to have a lot on his mind so he agreed easily.
"Oh Siren! I'm sure Nina would love to make you a matching dress with Ciel! You two would look SO cute together!" Lizzie commented.
We all patiently waited for Nina Hopkins, who was Ciel's personal tailor. Lizzie chatted with me for a bit and Ciel mindlessly picked at his breakfast. I frowned slightly at his behavior.
"I wonder if it would be impolite of me to ask her for an outfit for an audience with the queen. I will be meeting with her majesty this week and I have no clothes..." I mainly spoke to myself but Lizzie was listening.
"Oh dear! You need to have more outfits made as well! And an outfit that grand must be made by Nina! She is the best tailor out there!" Lizzie continued to babble until we heard nervous screaming.
"Excuse me." a polite womanly voice spoke from the doorway. A woman with Chestnut colored hair in a side curl and fashionable glasses come in.
"Nina!" Lizzie stood up excitedly. I looked at Ciel before turning to greet the new face.
"Lady Elizabeth nice to see you! You look lovely as-!" She stopped as she spotted me.
(Nina Vision)
The dark luxurious plum colored hair complemented the beautiful mismatched eyes. The pale soft skin looked smoother than any other silk. The thin and slender body was healthy and fit. The girlish features were perfect with the addition of the more developed womanly features. She was elegant, beautiful, flawless, absolute perfection!!!
(regular)
Okay, she's been staring at me for the past ten minutes with a look and sparkles with hearts floating around.
"You are absolute perfection my darling!!!" She squealed and ran towards me. She hugged me and kissed my face.
"Ah!" I squeaked when she squeezed my breast, "Y-You must b-be Miss Nina..."
"Oh you can just call me Nina darling, I must know how old at you are! Such a gem, and to be so endowed!" she whispered the last part in my ear.
"Miss Nina, I think that is highly inappropriate behavior!" Ciel shouted as his face turned red.
"Oh lighten up Ciel, my beautiful boy!" Nina had sparkles in her eyes while looking at Ciel before letting go of me.
"It is a pleasure to meet you Nina, my name is Siren Sin and I will be turning fifteen but currently I am fourteen years of age." I curtsied once more and smiled, "I know this must be too much to ask Miss Nina but I have a bit of a dilemma. I have no clothing it would seem and I haven't gotten a chance to go shopping, also I am in need of an outfit for an audience with the queen."
"Oh of course darling! I can make anything you want! Along with Ciel's new outfits and Lizzie's new dress. I will be happy too! Once I'm done measuring and fitting I will be happy to measure you and we can work on some designs! When is your meeting?" Nina replied in a rush.
"This week, the other outfits don't have to be done, I'm sure I could make do with something. But it would be highly improper to show up in plain clothing in front of the queen." I replied with a grateful smile.
"Oh of course darling!" Nina said and then pulled off her skirt to reveal shorts underneath. "I shall tailor the finest clothes that incorporate the latest trends!"
Sebastian looked unimpressed while Lady Elizabeth was freaking out about Nina's legs. Nina explained that it was freedom to wear clothes such as those and she will be setting a trend such as this.
"We must have wonderful silhouettes for both young men and women, so Earl shall we begin?" Nina finished, "Earl? Are you listening?"
"What? Oh, Yes." Ciel must have been lost in thought.
"Ah...will the little lord earl also grow big someday? Then you will not be able to wear my handmade evening dress anymore." Nina spoke as she measured Ciel.
"WHA!?" Ciel shouted in embarrassment.
"I regret not wing able to see it! I heard rumors you wore pigtails..." Nina continued. Ciel tried to stop her from talking and Lizzie was wondering what was going on. I stood off to the side giggling softly. "Oh how wonderful! Your measurements haven't changed at all! Only your waist has gotten narrower!"
Lizzie seemed a bit peeved by this, Ciel does already have a narrow waist for a fifteen year old.
Nina began to mumble and then exploded into a rant, "Oh yes! The earl's Easter outfit will be in a winter style, a suit with a black-based tailcoat and knickers. A narcissus in the button hole by the collar. Gold braids and ornamental buttons as highlights! An elegant gold dress in shantung silk for miss Sin! Black ribbons and tassels for a more feminine appeal. And plenty of narcissus for their dress hats all tied off with ribbons!"
"That sounds wonderful! Don't you agree Siren?" Lizzie said.
"Indeed, thank you for the lovely picture..." I smiled fondly.
Nina demanded paper and pens, she must have been very inspired for Ciel. She named off different styles until
Sebastian stopped her, "Isn't red much too gaudy for the young master? He does not look very good in reds and yellows. I believe soothing more muted would suit him better."
Before a fight could break out I stepped between them and with an innocent look I spoke, "I do prefer Ciel in muted colors, I find he looks absolutely dashing in them..." my voice held a more sultry tone towards the end.
"I suppose..." Nina blushed with tiny hearts in her eyes, "Anyway all of you out until its time for pinning! Except you Siren! I still need to measure you~!" she pushed everyone else out of the room. "Now Miss Siren I can get to know you better while we work on your measurements!"
I smiled and giggled slightly, "Well what would you like to know?"
"What type of colors do you usually wear?"
"Well I tend to drift more towards darker colors. I wear a lot of black whether it be as a base or accent color. But I enjoy wearing any shade of blue or purple. I also like dark reds and the combination of black and white. But never white alone. I don't usually where pink but only on occasion. I do like silvers and golds when they are flowing or see through fabrics and I never wear orange or yellow because I absolutely despise those colors. Oh! And dark forest or olive greens are wonderful as well!" I smiled when I finished.
"I see! Well that's a start, maybe I can do a few matching outfits with you and Ciel. Hmm...Maybe grey with blue and black accents or purple! Oh! I'm getting ahead of myself, sorry! Now how would you describe your style?" Nina asked while she measured me.
"Well...I don't enjoy long skirts that cover my legs I find them impractical since I am the head of my house and have many jobs. If they are long I like them shorter in front with a longer back or simple flowing fabrics without too many petticoats. I wear many corset tops or button down shirts with form fitting vests. I like looking professional but flirty, so tight fits or flowing skirts are a must. For dresses I like off shoulder sleeves or straps and in the winter I enjoy tight and fitted sleeves. I wear gloves often and usually when I'm out a long cloak with a hood. I also wear heels, lot's of heels and knee or thigh high socks. Also lace or regular stockings..." I trailed off trying to think if I had missed anything.
Nina looked at me shocked and then smiled, "Would you be willing to wear trousers?"
"I actually have a pair, I find them very practical and nice since they show off my legs...I would like to have some more though..." I replied. Nina squealed as she continued measuring.
"Now, why do you need an audience with the queen?" she asked suddenly and looked at me with a serious expression.
"I must reintroduce myself into English nobility. My family was killed a long while ago and I had gone into hiding, many think I am dead. Though I would like to keep my lineage a secret I want to create a new name for myself along with a fresh start. I will inform the queen of who I really am and my whereabouts until now at the meeting." I replied.
"I see well then my lady we will have to make you look like you never left the world of nobility!" Nina said as she finished drawing up some designs. She also managed to create a few rough shirts and things for the fitting. While she called everyone back in I looked over the entire thing from the shadows.
"NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!" Nina shouted as she ripped apart the shirt Ciel was trying on. "The silhouette is all wrong! I will have to measure you nude in order to get proper sizes!" there was a glint in the woman's glasses.
It was entertaining to say the least, Nina was trying to measure Ciel while he in turn tried to hide his brand. Lizzie looked on confused and ignorant while Sebastian had to come to Ciel's rescue a few times.
"Well finally! I can measure you!" Exclaimed Nina.
All of a sudden Prince Sohma and Agni burst into the room.
"How dare you not tell me that you returned to the manor Ciel!" Prince Sohma exclaimed. Everything was pretty crazy towards the end of the night. Nina packed up her things and promised to have my outfit prepared for my meeting with the queen. She also had her hands full with the other outfits but assured us that she would be able to handle everything.
I sat with Ciel on a love seat while Lizzie and Prince Sohma chatted away. Feeling tired I leant on Ciel before falling asleep. Today was a wonderful break, but it was only the calm before a storm.
•••( the day of the audience)•••
Nina came through with the outfit. It was a beautiful formal gown with a neat swooping neck line and delicate cap sleeves. It was tight fitted until it hit the waist where the skirt started. The front of the dress had a mixture of black lace and jewels going down in a V shape. On top there was a layer of beautiful emerald green fabric that layered and curved revealing black petticoats underneath. There was a slight train in the back with flowing ruffles furthering the volume of the skirt. I wore a black jeweled choker necklace and black silk gloves that went past my elbow. I wore black heels and my hair was up in an elegant half up half down style. My plum locks curled slightly at the ends and I wore an emerald and onyx clip in order to keep my hair together.
Ciel led me through the palace to the throne room where I will be meeting the queen, "I will be waiting outside so that I can give my report afterwards. Then we can go home alright?"
I nodded with a warm smile.
Once I enter the chambers I made my way over to the thrown and bowed lowly.
"Rise child," a strong yet elderly voice spoke. I looked up to be greeted with and aged woman in black mourning clothes. She looked wise and regal, all the things you'd expect of a queen. "It has come to my attention that you are a missing noble?" she questioned.
"Indeed your majesty..." I replied quietly.
"From what house?" she asked, her eyes looked skeptical behind the fan she held up.
"Roseworth, your majesty..." I replied.
"That's impossible! The Roseworths never mentioned a daughter and they were all killed in a fire!" one of her butlers that stood by the queens side screeched in outrage.
I flinched slightly, seeing this the queen smiled at me apologetically, "Calm yourself Charles. I will hear your story..." the last part directed towards me.
"My name is Siren Amare Sapientia Venatrix Sin Roseworth. I am the hidden and hated daughter of the Roseworth family..." I spoke strongly now.
"Hated?" the queen questioned.
"Indeed your majesty. I mean you no disrespect nor do I wish to gain your sympathy when I say that I was imprisoned most of my life until I managed to escape and go into hiding after the fire." I explained the lie I knew I had to tell.
"Go on..."
"My parents known in the world of nobility as kind people wore only masks when in the public's presence. I speak only the truth when I say that they utterly despised my existence. Taking care to remind me of how much I was a mistake a nuisance everyday. I was locked up most of the time in a small windowless room in the servants quarters. They would punish me for the smallest offenses like making eye contact with them or speaking at all. When the fire happened I was locked in my room again for a crime that didn't call for punishment. I heard screams and yelling before smelling the smoke. I quickly tried to break the door down but it refused to budge, my only escape was when it fell inward because of the heat and burning. I search for my parents but they refuse to touch me. They said I was too filthy to help them and so they died because of their stubbornness and their pride. I ran out of the burning manor and his ever since." I finished in a quiet voice.
"My poor dear..." The queen spoke after a time of silence, "But I don't understand why you wish to see me?"
"I was hoping I could be of use to you, or your guard dog. I am rather good at gaining information or solving things in general. If it is to serve you I would be willing to do anything." I gave her a look of determination.
She smiled kindly at me, "Of course Lady Roseworth, I would be happy to add you to my ranks."
"I have a small request if it is not too much trouble my queen..." I looked at her hesitantly.
"What is it dear?" The queen asked.
"I would like to be a noble under a different name, I fear that the people who attack my parents will once more come after me. Also I was not registered as a Roseworth so people, especially other nobles, will question my lineage and power."
"Did you have a name in mind?" the queen asked.
"I was planning on using 'Sin' as my new name, unless that is too evil..." I responded.
"No...Lady Sin sounds like a perfect name for my new Raven..." the queen smiled at me. "We will have a ceremony a month from now to welcome you back and give you your title, until then you will stay with Ciel..."
"Thank you your majesty," I smiled at her before curtsying.
"You are dismissed, I will see you again Siren..." the queen dismissed me and I left the room with a lighter feeling and a smile on my face. It seems things are going to get a lot more interesting...
