Chapter 28

"I've never looked forward to a day like I have done today." Eli's smile was wider than Millie had ever seen it. He pulled the door wider open and gestured for her to come into his lair, which she hesitantly entered. Her heart was beating ten to the dozen as she stepped through the threshold, the smell of the place bringing back every memory she had from being here last time. The bad things Eli had made her do, things she needed therapy for were now all fresh in her mind and worst of all, she knew this time would be different... it would be worse.
At first, as she was new and scared, Eli had her do the easy jobs. He taught Millie how to log any jobs people had offered him, what to say on the phone to keep them hooked and make them sweat to give him all they could and make sure he would do it. To anyone that even knew a little about "Flick" he was one of the best hackers worldwide. Maybe even THE best. Millie knew this, now from experience. He easily infiltrated the government system to help Millie on her mission, it was as quick as opening an internet browser. He then hacked a drug lord's building cctv, and following this, the electricity supplier in the area to short out the lights whilst Rex and Big Boss fought their way out. He did all of that without a single breath of hesitation. Not to mention, somehow retrieving all the data from Millie's online conversations as well as the back ups of the phone calls, and hacking the courts to be able to watch her through the cctv and see her surprise when he gave her the news that he'd saved her for free. Of course this was in his best interest, because he needed her at her best for what he had planned over the next year. Everything she had ever done for him before was nothing in comparison to what she needed to do for him this time. He had a very big plan, and he'd waited for someone like Millie to come to execute it.

"Look, Eli..." Millie sighed heavily. "I- I can't do the things I did last time... I needed the-"

"Therapy I know." Eli cut her off. "I checked out what happened with you between last time we worked together and now. Pretty big things; you moved very far away, you had therapy for what I did to you, you got a good job in that government company, securing a great Lidoplex deal." Eli let out a soft laugh. "At first I was offended that you ran so far away from me, but I saw that what I'd taught you was what helped secure that deal. That made it all the sweeter." He smiled a devious smile as he wiggled his eyebrows. He put his hand on Millie's lower back, to which she flinched, and guided her into the room that she had spent so long in before - only knowing this time was four times longer.

Computer screens took up the whole back wall, lit up with different systems. On Eli's large white computer desk sat five screens; three on the bottom row, two on the top. He had a keyboard and mouse, a headset, a lamp and a can of drink. He was never one to have much going on at his desk, he didn't need the distraction.
Beside that sat a smaller desk, with two screens. This had been Millie's seat all that time ago and now, sadly for her, she was living it all over again. She shuddered as it all came back to her as fast and as heavy as being hit by a truck.

"Hey, come on now. It's not that bad. You enjoyed it last time." Eli smiled as he guided her into the computer chair, his hands remaining on her shoulders as she sat down. "You're here because you owe me big and I'm clever enough to have researched you before making up my mind on payment. You were a naughty girl when you were at school, you hacked into the computer system and changed some things, didn't you? How could I pass up the opportunity to have such good talent on my team?" His voice was smooth and seductive, making Millie cringe where she sat. Not only did she have to put up with Eli's business but she had to put up with his flirting attempts. He knew everything about her, anything that had ever been written down on a computer system was now in his mind; Doctors notes, hospital visits, bank statements, school reports, therapy reports... you name it, he had it. This is why Millie had made sure she had no social media pages, she had shut herself away in her house with only her mobile phone, knowing that may be the only thing that was safe for now. Of course he would easily hack that if he needed to, but right now he kept that in his back pocket in case of an emergency.

Eli was a strange man, he didn't mind delving into the very pits of old stored information to read up on someone but he still had some decency about some of people's privacy. He wouldn't hack a phone to read all their text messages and online conversations unless it was part of his job. That was something Millie always found strange, but kept in her mind. Maybe he was hiding stuff on his phone he didn't want anyone to see? After all, no one really knew the real Eli, they only knew Flick. Who was Eli? Did he have a family? A partner? Was he in a relationship with 5 different people at the same time? Did he have a close relationship with his mum? Who knew. These were the side quests that Millie had given herself to keep herself sane. Should she be working with him each day for the next year, she was going to make sure she could find out more about him and use it to his disadvantage. She knew she would need help, but who could she rely on? She had no one since she moved to this town, running away from Eli the first time. She left her family and friends and stayed silent in her little house, not making friends at work or going out to socialise. There were only two people who came to her mind but there was no way they would help her, they barely knew her and she barely knew them. They were very busy people, they were scary people, but they had saved her once already...
