~Chapter Three~
Grayson leans over Drake, looking at him closely. Water? Why water...? He was jolted out of his thoughts as he heard a groan from the female.
Libby sits up, groaning quietly in pain and wincing slightly.
"You alright?" Grayson asks her quietly. She nods, wiping dirt from her forehead with her sleeve.
"Are you ok? You look like you saw something strange," Libby frowns. Grayson shakes his head.
"No. I'm good. Just heard my friend mutter something," he nods towards his unconscious hybrid friend. "You hungry?"
"You bet I am. What do you have for food?" Libby crosses her legs and sets her hands in her lap eagerly.
Grayson mutters under his breath, annoyed. Nothing. No pork, no steak, no mutton. Only fruit snacks, cookies, water and a couple health potions. Why didn't she have any meat in her bag? That's the number one food item a lot of people around here eat commonly. Did it have to do with her being part Pine Marten? Grayson sighs, closing Breeze's bag.
"What's wrong? Don't have any food?" Libby questions.
"Well we have food, but it's not of the meal-ish type. Fruit snacks, cookies and water is all we have..." Grayson sighs.
"I have a question," Libby leans back, setting her hands behind her to support herself.
"Yes? Ask away," Grayson speaks.
"Were those cookies stolen?" Libby cracks a smile. Grayson feels his cheeks burn and turn red.
"Maybe."
~3rd Person POV~
The mercenaries look around, crossbows in hand and ready to fire. They look around for the thief and his hybrid friend. They'd assumed the commander had died of her wounds because of the ambush. They didn't bother trying to save her. They knew she wouldn't make it. Right now, their task was to find the dragon egg thief. A branch snaps.
Instantly, the mercenaries form a circle, holding their crossbows at the ready. Their eyes looked around for the thing that had made the noise. Instantly a flaming arrow came out from behind a tree, striking a mercenary. A girl comes running out, her purple eyes glittering angry. Her hair was golden and hanging loosely. The mercenaries shoot darts at her, but they were no use against the female. Her amulet glowed purple, the dark space now looking like cosmic space. A force field surrounds her as she shoots more arrows at the mercenaries and striking most of them down.
One of the mercenaries steps in front of the girl, grabbing her and throwing her into a tree. She hits the tree with a sickening crash and goes limp. A male leaps down from a tree, his trident slicing through the rest of the mercenaries like butter. His pale blonde hair reached his waist and his pale ice blue eyes were flaming with anger. His pale blue iron chest plate glittered like sea foam. An amulet with a blue stone hung around his neck, it faintly glowing. His moves became faster. Like lightning he tore the rest of the malicious murders apart. Eyes ablaze he scans the surroundings for more of the soldiers of the tyrant.
The male elf picks up his unconscious companion, leaping into the trees. He was unaware of a female watching him with a lethal stare. Her brilliant purple eyes gleamed in the sun, her blonde hair falling loosely around her ankles. Is he the one father told me to keep an eye out for? He looks younger than I thought, she thinks with impressiveness. How could this man be her great great great grandfather?
~
"I thought I had strayed into a dream..." He speaks quietly.
"You are dreaming," the silhouette of a cloaked person whispers quietly in his ear. "You must wake up and face the reality that awaits you."
"What is that supposed to mean?"
"You'll see.."
"Wait! Don't leave me!" The male cries out as white light sears into his eyes.
