Milani (12 years later)

Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.

I stirred in bed, reaching for my phone. My fingers grazed the cool surface of the wood of my nightstand until I felt the rectangular shape of my phone.

Pressing the volume button on the phone, I turned the alarm off. I threw the cover off of myself and climbed out of my bed and walked straight to my bathroom hearing a yelp, I immediately recognized my mistake.

"Max! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to step on you!" I reached down and pet the husky's fur. He gave me a quick lick on the face and walked out of my room.

Poor thing... I do that every morning...

I stripped and took a quick shower and brushed my teeth. Then I got dressed. I slipped on a navy blue skirt, white shirt, and a navy blue blazer and a red tie.

Grabbing my book bag from by my room door and walked downstairs with Maximus at my feet.

"Lani! Hurry up will ya! I don't want to miss all the cute guys coming into the school!"

"Okay, Cass! I'm here!" I grinned as I stepped into the kitchen. I grabbed an apple out of the fruit bowl.

Cassi stood there with her arms crossed, wearing a small frown. "You really need to get up earlier to take a shower. You take forever."

I rolled my eyes. "Well excuse me for wanting to smell fresh." I mumbled as I pulled out Max's food bowl and put some kibble and wet food in it.

"Whatever, Lani." She shook her head. "Let's go before we're going to be late."

I nodded and gave Max a quick pat on the head before walking out of the house with Cassi.

"I low key wish that you would have gotten Bernard to drive us to school this morning." She mumbled.

"No. He gets the mornings off." I looked at her. "Everyone needs their rest, Cassiopeia."

"Whatever you say, Lan." She rolled her eyes. "You are the only rich person at this school that I know is not like the rest of them."

I grinned. "I try not to be."

Then she nudged me. "Hey, are you excited? It's our last year."

"And?" I raised an eyebrow.

"And it's your last year to talk with that cute guy that you keep staring at." She smirked.

"What? No! I can't just walk up to him! Do you not see him?!" I practically shrieked. "He's like a Greek god!"

She stopped and huffed. "You're like a Greek goddess! You had the height, the shape, gorgeous skin, striking emerald eyes, auburn colored hair." She pointed to all of my features. "And you even have that cool tattoo and fangs going on."

I rubbed my arm. "It's not a tattoo. It's a birthmark." I said quietly. "And none of that matters. I still can't walk up to him."

"You are so difficult, Milani. It's obvious that you two like each other." She waggled her eyebrows.

I huffed and rolled my eyes. "Yea...that's what you see."

It wasn't before long until we walked up the steps to Arcelonia Academy. Taking a deep breath, we walked inside through two great metal doors.

It felt as if every eye was on me. I stopped and looked at Cassi who gave me an encouraging smile. I nodded and walked towards my locker.

"I don't know why everyone keeps staring like that." I mumbled as I unlocked my locker.

"It's because you're gorgeous, girl." She grinned. "Get that through your gorgeous skull."

"That's not why." I glared at her.

"That would be my reason." She said with a mischievous smile and I raised an eyebrow at her. "If I swung that way, anyways."

I chuckled and rolled my eyes and I emptied my unwanted contents into my locker. "You are a mess, Cassi. I love you for it."

"I know you do." She nudged me. "Wouldn't be here, now would you?"

"Probably not. But who would keep your annoying ass in check if I weren't here, hm?" I raised an eyebrow with a smirk on my face.

"Shut up." She laughed.

BANG

We both jumped at the alarming sound and looked to see who slammed their locker like that.

"Oh look." A voice drawled. "It's the Andorian freak and her pet dog."

I rolled my eyes. In front of me stood a girl with platinum blue hair, icy blue eyes, and a pair of fake double D's. Her three friends giggled as they stood close behind.

Looks like she just got made over by a five year old girl who broke into her mother's make up.

"Oh, hello, Olivia. I see you just stepped out of some toddler's playhouse." I sneered. "Is that your real hair or did you implant those also?"

She stood there speechless, face red. She sputtered before turning on her heel in some expensive heels and her cronies close behind her.

"That...was a first." Cassi looked at me. "Since when do you stand up to Olivia Beauregard?"

"Since today." I zipped up my book bag and closed my locker to lock it back up. "New year, new attitude."

"Oh really? Weren't you dreading school like a few minutes ago?" She raised an eyebrow.

"Yes, but not anymore." I walked backwards. "Quiet Milani is gone. Shy Milani is gone. This year I'm going to be bold." I said with a cocky walk and smile.

She walked forwards with an amused smile as she threw her book bag over her shoulder. "So that means you're going to approach your crush?"

I grinned. "Yes! I'm going to look him in the face and tell him, 'Jackson Clayton, you are one hot piece of meat and I would so-" Then I bumped into someone. "...devour...you..."

My face instantly turned red. There he is in all his hot god bod. A striking 6'5 with a strong build, piercing grey eyes, dirty blonde hair that has a messy look to it. He had the perfectly carved face that only the gods could carve. And that jawline! Cut me some cheddar cheese with that!

He looked down at me with an amused grin and I just blinked back slowly at him, wanting to melt and evaporate into nothingness.

"And you were saying?" Cassi said smugly.

"Shut it, Cassiopeia." I snarled then I looked back at him. "Sorry for bumping into you."

"No, it's fine, Milani." He flashed a set of perfectly white, straight teeth. "I was coming to talk to you anyways."

My heart skipped multiple beats because, one, he said my name and two, he came to talk to me.

Okay, Mils. Keep your cool...

I blinked rapidly and held onto my book bag strap tightly and grinned nervously. "What do you want to talk about?"

He gave a lopsided grin and rubbed the back of his head nervously. "Well I was going to talk to you about-"

"Jackson! Come on! We gotta go. Coach wants to talk to us before we head off to class." One of his friends said as he nodded at me.

Jackson gave me an apologetic smile. "Sorry, I have to go." He turned away slightly. "I'll catch you around school. But I think I might need to hide though."

"Why?" I asked.

"You want to devour me." He smirked.

My cheeks burned and I felt like I was blushing again and he gave me a wink before walking away.

I want to die and curl up in a hole and die again...

"You and Jackson, huh?" Cassi nudged me.

I looked at her and she wore a smug smile and her arms were crossed. Then we both broke out into happy squeals and chartered all they way to class as soon as the bell rang.
