[Narrator POV]

Last time on Splatoon: The Last Of My Kind, Yami was explaining on how his quirks work and their drawbacks to Katie during breakfast. Next, on the news, Pearl and Marina showed that the Great Zapfish and Super Popstar Callie went missing. This got Yami's attention as he quickly put on his disguise and headed towards Inkopolis Square to maybe look for clues. As Yami made it in Inkopolis Square, he soon saw a suspicious squid and met a new inkling girl named; Lyla, who was new in town.

After following the mysterious squid, both Yami and Lyla soon found out that it was none other than Marie, from the Squid Sisters. Next, Yami revealed himself as a human after being so careless with his disguise. Now, Yami as Agent 24 and Lyla as Agent 4, must now help Marie and get back the Great Zapfish to save Inkopolis Square.

Now, let's jump into the story to see what our hero will do next.

[Third POV]

Its hasn't been very long since Yami and his now new partner; Lyla, has become agents. Yami was only wearing the agent jacket, headset, and not the weird boots. As both Yami and Lyla, with her new weapon, were heading through the small cave tunnle of Tentakeel Outpost, Marie suddenly called out to them.

Marie: If you see anything weird looking, blast it with ink! Inking before thinking, I always say.

Lyla: You got it boss!

Lyla started to ink everywhere, to see where is the first stage should be. Yami was looking around as they went around the big tea kettle. As they were walking around, Yami bump into a small invisible mini tea kettle entrance.

Yami: {Calls over Lyla} Oi! Lyla! I found it. Ink the damn thing.

Lyla: {Smiles} Coming Partner!

Yami: {Sighs} 'I hate the word...partner'.

Lyla happily came over towards Yami and shot the invisible mini tea kettle to reveal the entrance.

Yami: Alright let's do this.

Lyla: Yeah! Let's go kick some octo butt!

Lyla turned into her squid form and went in the entrance of the first stage. Yami inhale and exhale as he opened the mini tea kettle and jumped in. This is Yami's first ever mission. He just hopes he doesn't screw up.

[Stage 1]:
Return of the Octarians
-Rescue the Zapfish!-

Lyla, in squid form, came crashing down and landed safely on the respawn base as her ink color changed. She looked around in awe. Everything was actually pretty awesome.

Lyla: Wow~ This place is totally awesome! Hm? Where is Yami?

Yami:

Boom! Yami came crashing down next to Lyla, very hard. Ouch. That really must be soo painful. Lyla began to worry about Yami.

Lyla: {Worried} Y-Y-Yami!? Are you ok!? Are you dead?!

Yami: {In extreme pain}...Why...does the entrance....have to be in...the damn sky...{Groans}.....

Lyla quickly helped Yami up on his feet. Yami is surprised that he survived that fall. Usually, any human falling from that height will 100% die. It's probably thanks to his powers, making Yami's body way more durable than normal. Still, it hurted like hell.

Lyla: A-Are you really ok? That fall must've hurt since you're human...and have bones.

Yami: {Still in pain} Y-You think? B-But Yeah...I'm fine. I'll just walk this pain off.

Yami was rubbing is head as he took a look around the area. This place sure is amazing in his eyes. As Yami was looking around, he saw something up ahead that is yellow...and looks a bit similar towards the Great Zapfish.

Yami: Hey Lyla? Aren't we supposed to retrieve that?

Lyla looks ahead and gasp in surprise.

Lyla: {Gasp} Yami! That's a Zapfish! It looks like is trapped inside of that light bulb. We need to rescue it!

Yami: Then what are we waiting for? Let's go!

Lyla: {Nods} Right!

Both Yami and Lyla ran towards the launchpad. However, there was one problem. Since Yami isn't a squid, he can't super jump towards the next area. So, Lyla was left with one choice and that was to super jump with Yami hanging on her.

Yami: Um, are you sure? It won't be easy.

Lyla: No worries. It won't be so bad. Well, it might tired me out if I keep doing it, but we need to do this. Don't you have any other ideas?

Yami: ...Alright, let's go.

Lyla quickly turned into her squid form as Yami holded onto her as she super jump into the next area and landed safely. As the landed safety, Marie communicated them on their agent headset.

Marie: "Cover enemy ink with your ink to move through. That means you, Agent 4."

Lyla: Got it Marie.

As Lyla started to shoot the enemies purple ink, Yami decided to ask this question that he was curious about.

Yami: Hey Lyla? I've been meaning to ask this. Why are you shooting enemy ink? Does opposite ink from your color hurt?

Lyla: Well, not really, it just slows us down a lot since it's very hard to move through.

Yami: Understandable.

Lyla: Also, I got a question for you as well, Yami.

Yami: What is it?

Lyla: How come you refuse to use a weapon and use only your fist?

Yami: Well, for one thing, I can't refill on ink if I ran out. I'm not a squid, just a human. So, it'll just be a waste. Beside, my fist are usually my main weapons.

Lyla: Oh ok, I guess that makes sense.

As Lyla kept shooting an ink path for her through enemy ink, as Yami just casually walks through it, an Octarian saw Lyla and started shooting at her.

Lyla took cover to refill more ink. These slow ink balls are very easy to dodge. Yami didn't hesitate to come from the right of the Octarian and punched it so hard on the side of its face that it went flying off the building.

Yami: Tch! What a weakling..

Lyla, who saw this, was amazed and clapped.

Lyla: {Claps excitedly} Wow! That was amazing Yami. Who knew you had that kind of strength.

Yami: Um..It was nothing.

Yami didn't really need to use his quirk, because he is still trying to least master it without breaking his body and he doesn't want any other inklings, or the enemies, to find out. His regular strength should be enough, at least that what Yami hopes. After that little performance, Marie called in.

Marie: "What an amazing performance Agent 24! You weren't kidding of saying to not underestimate you."

Yami: ..How can you see from here?

Marie: "I have my ways. Now, Agent 4, jump through that squid ring."

Yami: Wha-?

Yami then saw a squid, literally a giant onion ring, floating slightly above the ground. Yami eyes widen in surprise.

Yami: Wow, thats....uh...neat.

Lyla turned into her squid form and dash jump at the squid ring, collecting a orange fish egg? After that, both Yami and Lyla ran down the walkway to the next area. Just ahead was another Octarian on a mini machine, but with a shield around it. It started to shoot at them. Yami quickly thought of a plan.

Yami: Quick Lyla! I'll distract it as you swim in the ink and blast that fool from behind!

Lyla: {Smirks} Quick thinking Yami!

Yami made sure the Octarian has its eyes on him, as Lyla quietly swam around it and shot it in the back multiple times, successfully killing it.

Lyla: {Smiles} Even though we've barely know eachother, we make a very good team.

Yami: Uh...yea....team.

Just then, another launchpad appeared as Lyla turned into her squid form and was waiting for Yami to come, but he shook his head.

Yami: It's fine. I know were that launchpad is aiming at. The next area is literally the second floor. I can get there easily, so no worries.

Lyla (Squid form): Ok, if you say so.

Lyla then got laughed onto the second floor, on a higher platform. Yami took a couple steps back and ran foward, jump on the boxes, and jump up again to grab the edge of the top floor building and pulled himself up. There were around three more Octarians just below Lyla. Yami charged at them and punched two of them off their machines as Lyla shot the other multiple times, killing it, then jump down, collecting more squid rings. The other two were still alive, but Yami quickly kicked both of them off the building.

Marie: "Hmm...Not bad."

Both Yami and Lyla ran ahead and turned around the corner and another Octarian started shooting at them. Both Yami and Lyla dodged as Lyla quickly shot it. Next, Lyla started shooting the boxes that were blocking their way and around the corner again, there were at least four more Octarians, shooting at them. Both Yami and Lyla took cover by the electric box.

Yami: I know ink won't hurt me, but I am not dealing with washing off ink. That's a total pain. So, Lyla, got a plan?

Lyla: {Smiles brightly} Yep! It's bomb time!

Lyla took out a Splat Bomb and toss it in the middle of the crates and in just a couple of seconds, the bomb exploded, damaging the Octarians a bit, but destroyed all the boxes. Lyla then started shooting some of the Octarians as Yami punched the last two Octarians off the side of a building again.

Marie: "Woo! I'm impressed with you two. Now hop onto that launchpad.

Lyla then got onto launchpad in squid form and got launched onto the next area, which was the higher ground next to her and Yami. Yami backed up and run full speed up a wall, grabbed the edge, and pulled himself. In that area, they both spotted a lot of enemy ink and some sort of balloon.

Marie: "Hit that Balloon Fish with some ink to pop it!"

Yami: Well, you heard the lady. Shoot the Balloon.

Lyla: You got it! Just give me a second.

Lyla then went inside her color ink puddle to refill her tank and after she finished, she started shooting a path towards the balloon and shot the balloon multiple times, making it pop as her color ink almost cover a large area. Good thing Yami was away from that ink blast. Up ahead, there were another Octarian as Lyla started shooting it and successful killing it. Yami then join with her ahead as they came towards a vault.

Marie: "Ah, a vault. We'll need to find a key to open that".

Yami looked at both directions. In both directions, a gate was blocking the way which Yami can easily climb over, but the problems is those crates. He can't break them.

Yami: {Sighs} You're on your own, Lyla. I can't break those boxes.

Lyla just gave a small smile towards Yami.

Lyla: {Smiles} No worries, Yami. I got this part covered. Just sit tight and relax until I find the key.

Lyla then went in the left direction to try and find the key as Yami just leaned against the vault with his arms crossed and thought of one thing.

Yami: {Crosses arms and mumbles}...Stupid plot...

Mini Timeskip, Lyla has already found the key and was rushing back towards Yami, waving the key towards him.

Lyla: {Excitedly} Yami, Yami! I found the key!

Yami: Hm? Oh, good job, Lyla. Come on, lets open this vault.

Lyla: Roger!

Lyla then used the key to opened the vault and as it just disappeared, it showed another launchpad. Lyla turned into her squid form as Yami holded onto her as they are now launched to the next area.

Marie: "You guys are a natural! Onward!".

At the next area that Yami and Lyla are, there was a lot of Octarians in the area. Both Yami and Lyla jumped down from the little roof they're on and hid behind the boxes.

Yami: Ok Lyla, here's the plan. I'll go charging in, making those Octarians have their eyes on me while you splat them, ok?

Lyla: {Nods} Right! I got your back.

Yami then charged at the first Octarian that was close and slam his fist onto its face hard, making it fall off his machine as Lyla splatted it. Next, Yami rushed at the second Octarian, grabbed him off of its machine and toss him off the building. The other Octarians started shooting at Yami as he dodges every single shot as Lyla threw a Splat Bomb, exploding two of them. Then 2 more Octarians suddenly appeared as Lyla started shooting one and Yami tossed the other one off the building.

Marie: "Good work on dealing with those Octarians, Agent 4 and Agent 24. Now Agent 4, I want you to toss a bomb at the last enemy to distract it and fire when their backs are turned."

Lyla: You got it!

Just like Marie said, when Lyla did throw a bomb behind the Octarian with a shield, it did got distracted and Lyla wasted no time on splatting it.

Marie: "Well done".

A launchpad then appeared...on the side of the wall. Now, how the hell is Yami gonna stick to the wall? But before Yami can think more, he saw something on top of the wall. A single box on top of the wall. Yami was curious.

Yami: Oi Lyla, check up that wall, I see a box. Shoot it down because I believe that there is something in it.

Lyla was confused at first but nodded her head as she made a path of the wall for her, turned into a squid and swam up there, and as she got up there, she shot the box down and out came some sort of weird screw thing. Oh well. Lyla then put it in her inventory as she swam towards the launchpad as Yami ran and jumped and grabbed her tentacle as they both got launched to the next area. As they both landed, Yami noticed that Lyla was breathing just a tiny bit.

Yami: How are you holding up, Lyla?

Lyla: Oh, I'm doing fine. How about you? Since you're human, you probably get tired easily.

Yami: Nah, this is like a light warm-up for me.

Lyla: {Shocked} Eh?! Just a warm-up? You can't be serious!

Yami: (-_-) I'm dead serious. Now c'mon, lets continue.

Yami and Lyla came across a very small path thats connected to the other side on where they need to be. Lyla went first as Yami was right behind her.

Marie: "Don't look down. Or do. Whatever."

Suddenly, some balloons has appeared out of nowhere as Lyla just began shooting them.

Marie: "Wow. You must REALLY hate balloons, Agent 4".

Lyla just ignored her as she went ahead and shot the Balloon Fish, making it explode and destroying all the boxes in that area. Lyla knew she can slip through the grate, but Yami can't. Yami, seeing this, told her that it's find and he'll just climb down. Lyla, who hesitated a bit, nodded and turned into her squid form to slip through the grate. Meanwhile, Yami was slowly making his way down as he spotted another box in a usual spot. Being curious, Yami safety jumped down, grabbed the small box, and yeeted it towards the wall hard. As the box got smashed to pieces, out came some kind of scroll. It was something probably important, so Yami put the scroll inside his jacket as he climbed his way up and met with Lyla, who seem to have already dealt with the other Octarians and was waiting at the launchpad.

Yami grabbed onto her as they both got launched to the next area, the last checkpoint.

Yami: I can feel it, Lyla. We're almost there!

Lyla: Same here! Lets blast through!

Lyla then shot a box and out came a tuna sized can, a special weapon. Lyla grabbed it and toss it towards Yami, who successfully caught it.

Lyla: Have at it, Yami! Show those Octarians what a human can do!

Yami: {Nods} Hmph, Roger!

Yami opened the can and activated his special, the Tenta Missiles! Yami can see it now, he can see the targets, the four Octarians in front of him.

Yami: Begone Octarian Freaks!!

Yami then fired the missiles, getting the Octarians attention as they all exploded and one dropped a key for the fault. Both of them jumped down down as Yami grabbed the key and opened the vault, having another special can. Yami grabbed it and toss it towards Lyla who caught it.

Yami: Now it's your turn!

Lyla: {Nods} Haha! Time to show them who's boss!

Lyla opened her can to use the Tenta Missiles. She targeted most of the Octarians, and fired at them, killing most of them. There were at least six more, so both Yami and Lyla jumped down fought the rest of them, taking six each. Three Octarians dropped three keys for three vaults. Lyla opened two of them, only to get those small containers of orange eggs as Yami opened the final vault, having the launchpad ready to go. Lyla turned into her squid form once again as Yami holded onto her as they got launched onto the platform on where the Zapfish is located.

Marie: "There it is! Bust in and grab that Zapfish."

Yami: Y'know Lyla....I guess we do make a pretty good team. I judged you too quick.

Lyla can't help but smiled.

Lyla: {Giggles} Hehe. I'm glad.

Lyla then shot the light bulb multiple times as the Zapfish was now rescued. Both Yami and Lyla grabbed the Zapfish together and hold it in the air.

Yami/Lyla: We have rescued the Zapfish!

(Stage 1): Complete!

Mini Timeskip, Lyla flew out of the mini tea kettle along with Yami. Good thing he left it opened. He hates crashing into things all the time.

Yami: {Stretches} Mmm! Wow, that was actually fun.

Lyla: {Stretches as well} Mhm. Even though it was a bit tiring, the adventure was great.

Just then, Marie walked up to both Yami and Lyla.

Marie: Great work, Agent 4 and Agent 24. Inkopolis may not be doomed after all.

Yami: Hey Marie, I found this during our mission. Do you know what it is?

Yami took out the scroll he found from his jacket and gave it to Marie, who has a look of surprise on her face.

Marie: That's a Sunken Scroll.

Both Yami and Lyla both looked at eachother in confusion and then back to Marie.

Yami: A Sunken Scroll? What's that?

Marie: A Sunken Scroll holds information and history of our world. Make sure to collect them on your mission, Agent 24. Here's a book when you collect those pages.

Marie took a empty book from her kimono and gave it to Yami who took it, opened to the first page and puts the first sunken scroll in.

"A shock wave struck while one young lady was performing at the recent Youth Folk-Singing Contest, doing damage to the venue. Fortunately no one was injured."

Yami closed the book and put it in his jacket.

Yami: I'll make sure to find them all if I can. {To Lyla} Alright Lyla, lets find that second kettle.

Lyla: Right!

Lyla and Yami went towards the small square size gate as Lyla swam through in her squid form and Yami climbed over it. Lyla shot the invisible mini tea kettle to reveal the second stage. Lyla turned into her squid form again and jumped in as Yami opened the tea kettle and jumped in as well. Oh boy, this is gonna hurt Yami again.

Welcome to Octopia
~The Summer Wind Rises~

Lyla successfully landed safely at the respawn base with another ink change as Yami....well...crashed again next to her, making the poor girl worry.

Lyla: {Worried} Y-Y-Yami! Are you ok?! You can't keep doing that!

Yami: {In extreme pain again}....I seriously got no choice......owwie......f*ck my life.

Lyla helped Yami up, who was seriously in pain, as they both looked around. It was actually beautiful. When Lyla wasn't looking, Yami quickly activated his second quirk; Divine Healing, and quickly healed his everything and after healing, he deactivated his quirk.

Yami: Wow...this is actually beautiful. A nice place for a vacation.

Lyla: {A bit scared} Yeah...it is beautiful...but that water is totally death for me.

Yami: {Confused} Huh? Death for you? What are you talking about?

Lyla: W-Well, Water can be very deadly for inklings. We're not made for water, well, dirty water that has bacteria. We can handle clean water....just not bacteria dirty water.

Yami: .....Ok I guess. Lets roll.

Both Yami and Lyla ran foward until some sort of enemy, a mini bomb with legs, came running at them, but Yami suddenly kicked it into the water as Lyla thanked him for that. Yami then parkour his way up to second ground level by using the crates as Lyla shot the Balloon Fish and swam up the ink and met with Yami. Lyla started shooting the sponges as they grew bigger and swam up. This was no problem for Yami as all he has to do is grab onto the sponge tightly and climb. After climbing up, there was another Octarian that started shooting as them, so Lyla quickly the two sponges so that Yami and her can use it for a mini cover.

Marie: "Yes Agent 4! Ink those sponges to pump them up!".

Lyla then shot the Octarian down and made a wall path of ink to the top of the small wall. Yami then ran at the wall, jump and grabbed the edge to pull himself up. Another Octarian and Yami wasted no time and toss the fool at the water.

Marie: "Strong work, agents."

This time, Yami was the first to climb the small wall of the next section and gave a hand towards Lyla, who happily accepted as she grabbed his hand and Yami pulled her up. She was actually light.

Lyla: {Smiles} Thanks Yami!

Yami: No problem.

Marie: "Baddies ahead! Poach these eggheads!"

Yep, just on cue, more Octarians, well, those bomb bois with legs were coming. Without hesitation, Yami snatched Lyla's gun and quick shot the Balloon Fish, making it explode and killing the bomb bois.

Marie: "Nice work, Agent 24".

Lyla: Whoa! Nice shot, Yami! That was awesome.

Yami handed Lyla's gun back as she took it.

Yami: No biggie. Now, lets continue.

Lyla: Okie dokie.

Now there was a problem, up ahead was a giant wall straight up to the next launchpad and there was no way Yami could climb it.

Yami: Uh, Lyla. Get to that launchpad and see where it would lead you too. Don't worry, I'll find a way to get to you.

Lyla hesitate but nodded as she shot a Balloon Fish that popped another one, swam up there and used the launchpad to launch herself. Yami saw that she landed right on the other side of the water and the platform she was on was easy to climb. So, Yami took a step back then ran at full speed and dive into the water. Lyla watched as Yami swam towards her,climbed onto the platform as Lyla helped him up. Yami used his hand to "comb" his hair to the side as water dripped from him. When Lyla saw this...she blushed. To her, Yami looked so hot doing it.

Lyla: 'I-I know we've just met...but how can a human be so hot doing that!'.

Yami: C'mon, we got a job to do.

Lyla: {Blushes} R-Right.

(A/N): I'm just gonna skip most of the stage. I'm starting to get a headache of writing the whole stage. Sorry.

Timeskip forward with some difficulty with Yami and Lyla, they have made it to the final checkpoint. Lyla wasted no time in shooting the first Balloon Fish that helped exploded the others to make a sponge path for Yami and Lyla.

Marie: "The Zapfish has to be close. Forward!".

Just like Marie said, the Zapfish is up ahead, right in their sight, above them. Both Yami and Lyla dashed forward towards the Zapfish, but an Octobomber suddenly appeared.

Marie: "An Octobomber! Gross".

Lyla didn't hesitate as she started shooting it and took it down. Yep, there was no way Yami can reach the fool.

Marie: "Well played".

Lyla shot the Balloon Fish as it exploded the others and made some sponge stairs to the Zapfish. Lyla swam up and Yami climbed.

Marie: "Just a bit farther. Keep going!".

As they successfully made it to the top, Lyla quickly shot the light bulb as the Zapfish was now rescued. Both Lyla and Yami grabbed the Zapfish together and hold it in the air.

Yami/Lyla: We have rescued the Zapfish!

(Stage 2): Complete!

As Lyla and Yami made it back out the stage, Yami took out his Sunken Scroll Book and put the 2nd Sunken Scroll that Lyla helped him collect.

"Music heads are still buzzing over that legendary underground show two years ago. Anyone lucky enough to catch DJ Octavio's opening set and the Squid Sisters headlining had their minds blown and their lives changed that night".

Yami put his Sunken Scroll Book away as Lyla and him went towards the next stage. Lyla just had to shoot some boxes blocking the way and then shoot the invisible mini tea kettle to reveal the third stage. Yami was about to go in, but Lyla stopped him.

Lyla: Let me do this one on my own, Yami.

Yami: {A bit shocked} Seriously? Are you sure you can handle it?

Lyla: {Smiles} I sure am. I got this.

Yami: {Hesitated}.....Fine, but if you're in trouble, radio me for help and I'll be on my way at full speed.

Lyla: Heh, you got it partner.

Lyla then jumped in the kettle alone, as Yami watched her and just sat by the entrance.

Yami: I guess....I'll be waiting. I wonder how's Katie back home. Meh, she's probably fine.

While Yami waited for Lyla, all he did was meditated. This will probably help him with his quirks. Timeskip towards later, as Yami was meditating, almost going to sleep, he heard a tea kettle team as he opened his eyes and saw the huge tea kettle opened, the boss tea kettle. Lyla then came out of the mini tea kettle she was in. When Yami looked at her, she was completely out of breath. This caused Yami to be concern and worried. Even though he didn't show it in his emotions, his voice says otherwise.

Yami: Lyla? Are you alright? You look exhausted.

Lyla: {Slighty breathing heavily} I...I'm good. I can do this. H-Here Yami, I found this for you.

Lyla shakily handed Yami the third sunken scroll as he put it in the book.

"WE'RE MOVING! Ammo Knights will be moving to a new location soon. Many thanks to our loyal customers for your support."

As Yami put his book away, both him and Lyla got a call from Marie from their headset.

Marie: "The Boss Kettle's opened! You've got this, Agent 4 and Agent 24."

Both Yami and Lyla started walking towards the boss stage. Yami has to admit, this will be his toughest challenge yet. Without using his powers, Yami started to have negative thoughts. Would he be completely useless? No, he can't think of that right now. Lyla is at the point of collapsing from exhaustion, so Yami needs to try and help her out.

Lyla went in the Boss Kettle entrance as Yami opened it up and followed her.

[Stage: Boss]
Industrial Toast
~Into the Octo Oven~

Just like before, Lyla landed safely as Yami crashed next to her...again. As Yami got up, he saw the battlefield ahead and enemy ink with the Zapfish above. Both Lyla and Yami got onto the launchpad as they both got launched onto the battlefield. Lyla was getting very tired. As they both only made a couple of steps, a big tentacle came out of the purple ink, grabbed the Zapfish and dragged it back into the ink. There was a little electricity in the ink as a big flash of yellow light started to shine from it as something big was slowly making its way out. Both Yami and Lyla got on their guard as their first boss revealed itself.

The Octo Oven just came out to play. Both Lyla and Yami's eyes widen. That was a big boss and it was made out of bread. Now, Yami feels hungry thinking about bread.

Marie: "Looks like the tentacle up there is the source of the trouble".

Lyla started to ink a path to have a fast way to get away from Octo Oven as Yami barely dodged their attack.

Marie: "The end of the loaves looks deadly. That's why I never eat the end slices."

Yami: (=_=) 'W-Was that a pun or something?'.

Both Yami and Lyla kept dodging as the Octo Oven did another attack and this time was left out. Lyla quickly inked a path up and kept shooting the tentacle. As the tentacle exploded into a ink fountain, Lyla quickly super jump off of there.

Marie: "Donut stop! You knead to keep going!".

Yami: (=_=) {Groans} .....

Yami noticed that Lyla was shaking a bit, not in fear, but near exhaustion. Then, the Octo Oven went in their 2nd state as the shot colums of ink.

Marie: "MMM! CHURROS! Wait, nope. They're just columns of ink."

Yami: 'Seriously?! This boss bastard got stages?! Why does this remind me of a video game back in the day?".

Marie: "...But there are fewer walls on the oven to climb now."

Yami noticed on how on how tired and slow Lyla was getting, so Yami took the idea of being a distraction.

Yami: OI! YOU STUPID SOUR OCTO BREAD! I BET YOU CAN'T FIT IN ANYTHING OF HOW FAT YOU ARE!!

That seem to bought it, because the Octo Oven was angry and charged at Yami as he started running and dodging his attacks and the columns of ink that's in his way.

Yami: {Dodging and yells} NOW LYLA! IT'S UP TO YOU!

Lyla: {Exhausted} R-Right!

Yami then dodged again from the Octo Oven's attack as Yami ran towards Lyla and stop a few feet away from her. As the Octo Oven was chargin' at Yami from behind, Yami crouched down and lifted both arms in front of him together. Lyla, who got the message, ran towards Yami, jumped on his hand as Yami slingshot her high in the air with all of his strength. In mid air, Lyla quickly shot the big tentacle as it exploded and ink came gushing out again. As Lyla landed on top of the Octo Oven, she quickly turned into her squid form and super jump out of there. As she landed next to Yami, she fell on her knees as Yami helped her up.

Marie: "Excellent teamwork, Agents! But doughn't start loafing around or things might go a rye".

Yami just decided to ignore Marie's horrible puns and check on Lyla.

Yami: Lyla, just hang in there a little more. We can do this. Just pull through.

Lyla: {Heavily breathing} Y-Yeah...W-We c-can do this.....

Now, the Octo Oven was at their final form. Now they have....armor on the side of the their bread head???

Marie: "Wait...Armored bread? But...Armor? On bread?".

Just then, the Octo Oven activated its...glazing machine of ink and its coming right for them.

Marie: "Uh....Some kind of...glazing machine...has appeared."

Yami: Yeah, I can see that!

Yami started to run with Lyla, trying to get away from being covered in ink, and in Lyla's terms; getting killed. Thd Octo Oven then charged at both Yami and Lyla. The Octo Oven attack them with its loaf of bread body head, but Yami dodged it. However, Lyla didn't as she got hurt and her hero suit was damaged. Lyla screamed in pain as Yami eyes widen and Marie got worried.

Marie: "Agent 4!"

Lyla weakly looked up as the Octo Oven was gonna attack her again. She waited to get splatted but it didn't came as her body got pushed out the way and a painful grunt was heard. It was Yami. He pushed Lyla out the way and got in hit in the front of his body hard. Who knew that this boss packed a punch. Yami came crashing down on the ground with a painful grunt as he was a bit dirty with ink.

Marie: "Agent 24! Are you ok?!."

Yami slowly gotten up as the Octo Oven was making its way over to him.

Yami: Ugh. Y-Yeah. I'm fine!

As the Octo Oven came closer to Yami, it shook and attack him with his loaf of bread on all sides, but Yami dodged as Lyla quickly swam up and splatted his huge tentacle as ink was gushing out once more. Lyla suoer jump out the way as Yami ran towards next to her.

Marie: "This guy's toast!"

Yep, just like Marie said, the dude is toast. The bread heads got burnt as it suddenly exploded in Lyla's color ink. Some of the ink got on Yami, but he didn't mind the ink this time.

Yami: Y-You did it, Lyla.

Lyla: {Shakes head} No....we did it together Yami.

Yami: "We"? I didn't do much. All I did was distract it...

Lyla put a hand on Yami's back.

Lyla: That's more than enough....and also, thank you for saving me back there.

Yami: Y-Yeah...no problem.

Both Lyla and Yami went up to the Zapfish as Lyla shot the light bulb multiple times as it got free. Both Yami and Lyla grabbed the Zapfish together and hold it in the air.

Yami/Lyla: We have rescued the Zapfish!

Marie: "Good work, Agent 24 and Agent 4. I sure know how to pick 'em. Gotta hand it to the Octarians, though. I didn't expect them to have fully operational octobosses at their disposal. I think it's time to call in the big guns. Let's see here...Sheldon? Can you hear me? Over!

Yami: 'Sheldon?....oh no...'.

Sheldon: "I hear you loud and clear, Marie! Over! OH MAN THIS IS SO COOL! Ahem...Agent 4, Agent 24, I'm Sheldon from Ammo Knights, the only weapon shop in Inkopolis with over 542 million years of trusted service...That's right, stop by Ammo Knighs in Inkopolis Square for all your weapon needs! Tell me Sheldon sent you!"

Yami: (💢) 'This dude is annoying! Make it stop!'

Sheldon: "Marie told me everything! To think that my signature weapons can be of help to the New Squidbeak Splatoon! I'm honored! But I'm afraid I can't just let you guys treat my vast arsenal like an all-you-can-ink buffet. I do have a business to run, you know. So let's help each other, I want you to help me test out some new weapons I'm currently developing!-

Yami: {Snaps} OK! WE GET IT!!!! SHUT UP!!

Sheldon: "S-S-Sorry Agent 24!"

Marie: "Um...Well, let's get back to work Agent 24 and Agent 4. Stay fresh!"

Timeskip towards later, both Yami and Lyla were out of the boss kettle and heading back to Inkopolis Square. It was already very dark. Lyla was about to collapse any second.

Marie: Good job to you both on defeating that Octo Oven boss. Since it's getting late, go home and rest up and be back here tomorrow. We got a lot of ground to cover.

Lyla: {Beyond exhausted} I-I...I'm going ahead then.

Lyla then turned into her squid form and went back to Inkopolis Square. Yami was about to follow her, but Marie stopped him.

Marie: Here Yami, you've forgot something.

Marie then handed Yami his squid phone back. Yami quickly took it.

Yami: I thought I lost it! I must've dropped it while I was putting on my jacket.

Marie: Oh yeah, you have some missed calles from someone named Kate. I didn't answer it because I respect your privacy.

Yami quickly turned on his phone and his eyes widen like dinner plates. Some missed calls? Yami missed 52 calls and 24 text messages!

Yami: Oh crap! Kate must've been worried sick! She's totally gonna kill me. Ok, bye Marie!

Yami quickly opened up the entrance back to Inkopolis Square and jumped in it.

Back in Inkopolis Square, it was completely dark outside as Yami opened the drainer and came outside. Yami was lucky enough to not crash into everything this time. Yami was just about to head home as he see someone lying on the floor in front of him. It was Lyla. She was too exhausted to even move anymore. Yami quickly went over to her and picked her up, bridal style.

Yami: Geez Lyla, You really are tired. We need to get you a place to sleep...

As Yami was about to head home, again, he heard a feminine voice from the ally.

Female: Hey! Get your nasty hands off of her!

Yami, who was curious, gently set Lyla on a bench and slowly walked towards the noise. When he came close enough, he saw a thug holding a girl. He wasn't a inkling, he looked like a crab. Yami couldn't see what the girls looked like since the back of the crab was facing Yami and blocking the view. Yeah, he was big but that didn't matter.

Female #2: {Scared} P-P-Please sir, let me go a-and I promise we won't report you to the police.

Crab Dude: Aw~ C'mon babe~ How about one night at the hotel with me~. Plus, those weak cops won't do sh*t to me.

Female #1: I said leave her alon-

Female #1 didn't got the chance to finish as she was forcefully shoved to the ground by the crab dude.

Crab Dude: Nobody was talking to you, you ugly gremlin!!

Yami had enough as he charged in and punched the crab guy away from the girls.

Yami: Leave them alone you pervert!!

The crab dude went crashing into the ground as Yami got a good look at the 2 girls. He suddenly recognized them. They're Off the Hook, Pearl and Marina.

Marina was the one who was being harassed by that perverted crab. There was some light shining on Yami, so the two girls got a look at him and gasped in shocked. They have just discovered a human, who suddenly saved them out of nowehere. Yami then helped up Pearl.

Yami: You ok?

Pearl: Y-Yeah, I'm fine dude.

Yami: {To Marina} And you? Did he do anything else to you?

Marina: N-No...he didn't. Thank you for saving us.

Just then, the crab thug got up and glared at Yami.

Crab Thug: {Angered} Who the hell to you think you are, freak!

Yami: {Glares} I'm the human who's gonna kick your ass for touching these girls!

The Crab Thug didn't get to say anything as Yami charged at at him and delivered a thunderous punch through his gut. Yes, you heard me, through him! Through his stomach. Without knowing, Yami accidentally activated Demonic For All from his arm and just with enough power and force destroy the Crab's hard shell. Both Pearl and Marina were horrified and in awe. They never knew that a human can be this strong. Yami didn't mean to kill him, but he had it coming. He hates perverts to the core. The bright side is that when Yami unknowingly used DFA, his body didn't get crushed...so that's good.

Pearl: W-What the hell?!

Marina: {Mumbles} I...I never knew humans can be very interesting creatures...

Yami: Listen ladies, forget that you saw anything. I gotta go.

Yami dumped the body in the dumpster and started to walk away, but Marina stopped him.

Marina: W-Wait! What's your name?

Yami: It's Yami, Yami Akuma. And don't you forget it.

Marina: W-Would you like to come to our home, Yami? I-I want to get to know you and more about the human race if you don't mind.

Pearl was shocked at this idea. Invite a human over who just killed a pervert crab without even trying? She is not sure, but Marina gave her side glance, one of those begging eyes. So she couldn't say anything. Yami, on the other hand, was thinking this through. He's not sure, but he can probably ask these girls to lets Lyla stay with them if it's alright with them.

Yami: {Sighs} Fine...but I got a...f-friend with me and she's completely exhausted. Can she come along?

Marina: O-Of course, the more the merrier.

Yami then went and picked up Lyla bridal style as she was still asleep and walked towards Pearl's and Marina's limo and got it. He was a bit surprised of the limo, but not that much. Yami laid Lyla down on the seat as they were making their way to the home of the Pop Idols.

Yami's journey is just beginning. His path to power has barely begun. Our hero is slowly rising to the top. Let's hope that Yami can actually pull this off.

Finally! Another episode done! I'm so tired right now! I believe that writing each stage from the game was kinda a waste and exhausting. It took me 2 days, since my battery drains fast and it takes almost 5 hours to charge, plus I don't use the script anymore since I'm pulling this story out of nowehere.
