Chapter 8: Lost

Egde POV

I was then able to get out of the hospital. I went back to school as most people kept staring, but even by myself at art nothing happened. I kept hanging by Peyton and her friends. I see them being happy and not depressed in anyway, so I feel great that they weren't harmed. The teachers seem to be more respectful to me, specially Mr. Smith. Britney and her friends were seen around school, but never made eye contact with me. I am happy that it is over.

It been about 5 months since school. I never thought that school could have this great feeling. I met so many new people and felt I wasn't alone anymore. I was able to learn the world more and kept a balance of the world, but I don't know how long I can last. That is why many gods rule the world. Not even Jesus could stand the weight of power from every god. I felt weak and tired every day; it had seem to be notice by Peyton on one morning.

"Hey! Are you okay?" she said with concerned has she held my hand. She saw me breathing heavily on the bed.

"No worries. I'm fine," I smiled through the tired, baggy eyes, and weakness. She agreed to it in her mind, but felt more concerned than ever in her heart. I continue to use all the strength I have in me. If this keeps going I will perish with the most powerful powers to protect this world and nothing will stop them.

It was a Saturday morning as Peyton said she had a checklist of errands to do.

"Are you sure? I can take you with me," she said.

"No worries. I'll stay here and.....maintain my powers," I stated a little too fast. She stared for a bit.

"Alright," she said as she shrugged," I might be back late, but if anything call me." She left and locked the door. I waited an hour until she left to be sure. I grabbed a sports bra and my smaller backpack. I put a t-shirt, jacket, the phone, and 10 dollars from Peyton piggy bank. I make sure to pay her back. I put the back pack on and sprouted my wings. I flew off with a cold chill up my skin.

I stopped outside for a minute. I closed my eyes until it was fully black. I waited and search for a living soul in the mind scape. I only saw some, but was miles away. One flickered and was moving back and forward. I let it aside thinking of my options. I could fly if I wanted to, but I might be gone for day or two and worry Peyton. She cared for me all this time and without her help I might of been dead. I decided that before I leave I should tell her. I turned around to fly back to her home.

I notice I flew a distance from Peyton home. I continued to fly into that direction, until I suddenly felt a pain in my wing as it started to shrink. I quickly flew myself into a nearby ally. My wings felt numb as I felt sore myself. I hid my wings which took a while considering how bad it hurts. I then put a t-shirt on and walked out of the ally way.

For all I could tell nothing looked the same. I never walked into town much. I only knew the way back from Fury college to Peyton home. It was started to get dark and I had hope that I can be home before Peyton notices I'm gone.

I put the sweater on as it started to get cold. I walked through empty streets with only the outside light of places to be my guide. I felt more tired as I felt a chill up my back. I was calm about it like I knew what it was. It was the feeling of being watch by something with no kindness in it. I left it aside and kept walking in the cold streets.

After decisions of where to go, I was on the streets next to houses. I thought of asking the people, but it is midnight. I felt that I might be waking them up, but I'll stay on this path if anything gets worse. I felt the same chill on my back. This time I know that something was there.

"Where you going missy late at night?" said a fierce voice. I turn to see a group of boys not older than 25. Many didn't look cold with their lack of clothing and had weapons. (Guns, bats with nails, or knives) I kept cautious, but still answered them.

"Um... Back home, but I got loss...," I said trying to watch the information I give them.

"Well, why don't you follow us? We can help get home until tomorrow. Right now you seem cold and hungry," the man in the middle said. He wore a beanie with a tank top and shorts. He was the only one with a bat (with nails). I felt it wouldn't be a problem. They had no badness in their souls. They still looked suspicious.

"Thank you...," I whispered enough for them to hear. I followed next to them. After a short while, I felt tired and loss all my guard as I felt a cloth by my mouth. It woke me up as I tried to break free until the light of the night faded away.

I fell asleep looking around to see a figure. No.... a person. She was sitting there by herself. I ran to her, but before I could even make it I woke up. I woke up to being thrown onto the floor. I looked around until I saw the boys I met locking me inside a cage.

Good morning sunshine," the man said giggling as the three men walked away and closed the door. I sat up and looked up. The were more cages with girls from all ages except above 35.

"How cruel," said a girl in just a bra and shorts. She looked like a teenager at the age of 17.

"Those meanies. They take all the girls away from their families," claimed a girl who was 10. She wore a dirty red dress. I sat up rubbing my head.

"Who? Where?..." I said as the three girls in the cage with me stared.

"What happened? What did they do to you?" said on girl at a age of 33. She took my shoulders and stared.

"I was loss. I met them. Then they lied which I didn't know. I then inhale this strong scent. Now I'm here," I said as short as possible because of the pain in my head. They all stared again.

"So the eyepatch isn't from them?" the 33 year old woman asked.

"No. I had a eye disease, so my eye was taking out," I said. I still had to lie which I still hate. She sighed in relief.

"Where are you from?" she asked.

"I lived near Fury college," I said. Three of them dropped their mouth and stared at me," What's wrong?"

"That's like all the way on the other side of town," said the older one.

"But you don't know where we are, so...." I said.

"Yeah, I don't know where we are right now, but I know that were not even close by your college," she stated. I sat back on the fence door as pain grind on my back. I knew I as close to my limit.

"I need to leave," I said as I stood up holding my side by my left.

"What?!" said not only the girls in my cage, but others around me. I looked at them confuse.

"First of all, you have no map or idea of the place. Second you have a fence blocking you. Third you don't know how many people are here that can throw you back in here," she said. I started to feel impatient as sigh. They watch as I stood up. I grabbed the lock and rip it off which made the door fall. They all dropped their mouth and stared at me.

"I wouldn't be walking at night if I didn't know how to defend myself," I stated," You stay here and free the others. I will look for help." I paused for a moment feeling a connection. I wanted to see it, but the pain return in my body as I shook my head and slowly opened the door. I checked for anyone waiting for. I was in the clear as I closed the door behind me and tip toed down the hall. It was very dark, but had small neon lights to guide me to the next room. I then heard faint music getting louder with every step. I then ended up with a open door to see men by themselves. Drinking, smoking, or eating....pills? I had nowhere else to go besides this room and the room I was in., so I will walk in.

Not even a second foot place and the heavy music stopped as everyone gave a glare.

"Hey! What is she doing out of her cage?" yelled the same man who captured me. I gave a death stare knowing that I need to leave.

"Hey doesn't madder...," said a drunk man in long sleeves and pants," she can't do a thang...." He rested his hand on my head. I was irritated for that fact that they were going to help me but instead gave me more pain. I grab his arm and threw I'm over my head. His back landed on the floor as he was in pain. All of them became impatient and angry.

"Get her!" one said as they ran to me with the weapons on their side. But that was the worse decision they made all day.

Peyton POV (Back when Egde had fell into the alleyway)

I came home with a ton of groceries piled onto two arms. I attempted to carry them all at once, but was a bad idea. I took me forever to get the bags on the counter, but wasn't impossible. Once I was able to get my groceries on the counter, I place the food in fridge and started to make a pot of tea.

"Edge! Edge!" I called, but no answer returned. I got concerned as I checked the spot she hid before, I even went onto the roof. I felt more worry when her backpack and the house phone was gone. I knew I couldn't call her since the phone she took was the house phone; she ripped it out of the wall. The tea gave a loud whistle behind me as I panicked more.

I didn't know what to do. I panicked for 30 minutes straight as I can only think of calling friends. Wait. No. I hit myself on my head and took a breath. She may had to do something. She is a god after all and she may be small, but fearless and busy. I calmed down for a bit wondering why I was worrying so bad. I decided that I may still be concerned, but she has other things to do. I felt no different as I got ready for bed.

I still was worry and continue to watch the clock in my room. It's was not like her to lie or leave without saying a word to anyone. I stood up thinking where she could have gone. I thought of no where; she only been to my home and school. I thought of calling others the next day, so they could help me look or know where she could be. I calmed down more and was happy about my idea. I wasn't asleep, but was more calm than before.

Mia POV

My names is Mia. I am 33 years old and locked in a cage and who knows where. I was trapped by random men on my way home from work. I stayed here for a week, but it stopped today.

I stared at her. The girl who said she is getting out of here. Her words were true. I sat with all the girls, that were trap, as we stared at the girl almost covered in bruises and cuts holding a beaten mad in her right hand. Some girls shivered or got more scared when she dropped him as a thud echoed the room. She walked closer.

"Come on. Let's get you guys home," she said as she gestured her hand "let's go". We all stayed  for a minute until one girl went and then another. It went on until all the girls were out of the room and went threw the exit. None of them questioned the big gape in the wall, our exit.

"Hey!" I yelled at her as I caught up with her," How did you make this hole?" She looked up then back down.

" They had dynamite. I had no way out, so make one," she shrugged. I was wondering how about a 20 year old can beat an army of not only the men, but the wall. I heard no explosion, but didn't question it. It led to the surface as the tunnel went up. I question myself if we were in the sewers.

She quietly groan for no on to hear except me. She wasn't injured, but seem in pain.

"Hey are you okay?" I asked a she was about to fall until I caught her shoulder. She looked up again, but more tired than before.

"No worr...r.ies," she said as her words stumbled on each other. I wondered what happen to this girl.

After a couple hours we made it. I was then able to confirmed that ended up by a sewer or garbage dump because it stinks really bad. It didn't come to mind to the girls, though. They started to celebrate. I stared at the crowd. I was the tallest of all the girls and I can only assume I was the oldest judging the ages of them. I felt like I was the only grown up and had to make sure we had everyone.

"Hey!" I yelled as the cheers became quiet," Are we missing anybody?!" They looked around and started to talked to each other. Someone raised their hand. A little girl who was only 9. She was right in front of me.

"I think we are missing someone...," she said quietly for only me and couple people to hear.

"Who are we missing?" I asked her as I went by her level.

"I don't know her name, but she was the first and only one I talk to for a while. When we were all leaving up to the surface I lost her," she quietly messing with her fingers.

"Did she do or say anything before we went to the surface?" I asked her.

"She did say this," she said," I already taken over, but you're not. Go to the surface to be safe. I will stay to see my brainy Edge again. She promised." Something similar to that, but that is what I last heard from her when I lost her," I stared at her. Who's Edge?

I turned to the girl she started crying.

"War?" she said.
