𝙾𝚔 𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚗... 𝙸 𝚊𝚖 𝚌𝚘𝚖𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚠𝚒𝚝𝚑 𝚢𝚘𝚞... 𝙽𝚘 𝚘𝚗𝚎 𝚑𝚊𝚜 𝚝𝚘 𝚜𝚞𝚏𝚏𝚎𝚛 𝚊𝚗𝚢𝚖𝚘𝚛𝚎

Nat's POV

We were looking for Pepper for months but it was like she disappeared, like if she never existed.

I wasn't surprised, to be honest, I knew what HYDRA was able to do when someone had to disappear.

-Yes, thank you- Tony said and ended the call.

-So?- I asked.

He didin't answer but punched the wall.
-Nothing again! No one knows nothing!- he yelled sighing.

I stood from the sofa and hugged him.
-We will find her, I promise- I said.

-I know but... What if she is not alive? How should I tell Morgan that is mum is dead because...- he started but then stopped.

-Because what?- I asked, knowing exactly what he was going to say.

-... Because I fell in love with you- he said.

I smiled, hugging him again.

-It is not your fault, you don't decide who you fall in love with- I said.

-I should have protected her- he said and I understood he was going to cry soon.

He wanted to act strong with Morgan but, even know he didn't know that, I heard him crying at night, while everyone was sleeping.

-Why don't we go out today? Maybe distract a little will help- I said -There are James and Steve with Morgan-.

Yes, Steve joined us and he was happy that James was back. Also, I am sure that there was something between them, I had seen James acting with him like when he did with me while we were together.

-Ok...- he said trying to smile.

At the end we decided to go to Tony's favourite restaurant for dinner and I was happy to see him smiling for once. Spending some time having fun really helped him.

We decided to walk a little before going back home, enjoying the sunset on the sea.

-Thank you Nat- he said smiling -I really needed this-.

-You're welcome- I said and we kissed.

-Aw look at you- a voice said behind us.
We turned and we saw a man, all black dressed: Ian.

I knew him very well, we trained together.

Instinctively, Tony was in front of like a shield.

-Aw it is so sweet that you are trying to protect her- Ian said -If I were you, I would move before someone get hurt-.

Ian approached a little, laughing.

-What do you want Ian?- I asked.

-I think you know why I am here- he said -We want you-.

It was in that moment that I noticed that there was no one on the beach, just us.

-Is it you who took Pepper?!- Tony said.

-Oh yes that woman! We hoped she could help us but... That woman is very loyal to you- Ian said.

-Where is she?!- I asked.

-I don't know actually- Ian said faking a sad face -I think she may be underground somewhere-.

It all happened in seconds: Tony ran against Ian and punched him. Well he tried to, Ian was fast and he avoided Tony's punch.

-Too slow- Ian said smiling.

Ian punched Tony several times in his stomach and he fell on the ground.

-No!- I yelled running towards him.

-Look what have you done- Ian said -A woman may be dead and your husband is probably dying if he doesn't go to the hospital now-.

I was crying, I couldn't believe that it was all my fault; I couldn't let a girl without her parents.

-If I come with you... Will you leave him live? Will you let me call an ambulance?- I asked.

-Of course! We both don't want that little girl to live without her parents- Ian said smirking.

So he knew that Morgan was with us...

-Ok then... I am coming with you... No one has to suffer anymore- I said.

I could hear Tony saying a little -No...- but he was too weak.

I took my phone and called an ambulance, praying that Tony would have survived.

-Well done- Ian said and he lead me to his car.

I looked back at Tony's body one last time and while we were driving away I could hear the ambulance coming.
