Twenty Two: Oakley
I sit in a crumpled mess on the ground as the boys anxiously wait for me to stop sobbing. I'm surprised they haven't run away screaming for the moms with how crazy I am. Welcome to boot camp, boys! Have fun with the emotional wreck that's supposed to be your queen! I sob harder thinking I'm weak and defenseless.
Someone places their hand on my shoulder and I turn to them as my bottom lip wobbles. I lock eyes with Corbin and sob harder.
"Honey, what's wrong? Are you hurt?" He questions and attempts to hug me.
"I'm weak!" I screech and turn away from him.
"You can't be weak. Your name is Oakley; Oakley means strong," he tries to reassure me.
I turn to him in anger. "Then why are my eyes leaking? Make it stop!" More tears spill out and down my face. I growl and wipe them away angrily.
"Hey, sis," Sam slightly shoves my shoulder. "Who do I need to beat up?"
I glare at the skinny boy who beat me in the race and he stares at the ground. Tears slowly leak from my eyes and I groan in frustration. "I should be angry! Why am I crying?"
"Listen to me," Sam holds my face to where I'm forced to look at him. "You are pregnant. Pregnancy comes with hormones. Hormones make you crazy and emotional. As for the boy, he isn't relevant. You are Queen Oakley; puny boy does not matter! No offense, puny boy."
"None taken," he replies.
I nod in agreement with a slight pout. "Will you finish training with the boys?" He nods. "Don't go easy on them." I say pointedly.
"Never," he smirks.
I smile happily and turn to Corbin. "Let's go home."
I wake up from taking a nap (I was worn out after all that crying) and find a note from Corbin saying that his dad needed him, but he would be back in time for dinner tonight.
A bath sounds really nice right now.
I slowly get up from the bed and find some comfy clothes to put on once I take my shower. I decide on one of Corbin's t-shirts and biker shorts. I suddenly get a craving for Doritos and begin to exit the bedroom, but suddenly stop when I hear a banging noise from downstairs. I close my eyes to completely focus on listening.
Voices are talking from right outside the house, but I can't put together what they are saying. I know whoever it is, isn't supposed to be here. I quietly pull out my phone and text Sam and Corbin that someone is here. Sam responds by saying he's almost here and Corbin said he was on his way.
I shove my phone back in my pocket and step forward to give these hoodlums a piece of my mind, but my hand brushes the side of my stomach and I stop. I stumble backwards. I can't risk that. I need to think clearly. Would it be better for them to think no one's here or that I am here. Who am I kidding? I can't think clearly when all I want to do is give them a nice kick in the butt and tear them to pieces.
I hear menacing growls close to the house and I breathe a sigh of relief. I wait until I know my boys are here to go downstairs to make popcorn.
I am pouring the bag of popped popcorn into a big bowl when they come in.
"Tell me all the details on how you guys kicked their butts," I say excitedly and shove a big handful of popcorn in my mouth.
"Oakley, they were the landscaping people," Sam says irritated and then sighs. "But Corbin did chew them out really good." He begins eating popcorn.
"Well, I would've given them a good kick in the rear if I wouldn't have been pregnant." I smack his hand away from the popcorn. "This is mine and I'm going to take a bath. I sure need one after the day I've had."
Sam rolls his eyes. "Text me if you have another 'intruder'. I'm going home."
I KNOW THIS CHAPTER IS SHORT, BUT THERE WILL BE MORE EXCITING THINGS TO COME. BE PATIENT WITH ME PLEASE.
HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY
LOVE, K
