Seventeen: Oakley
A few uneventful weeks later, Gray and I are eating breakfast together. We are both decided to eat cereal. He sets his spoon down after eating and has a confused look on his face.
"Sissy?"
"Yeah?"
"Are you and Corbin going to get married?" He questions with his head tilted to one side.
"Yeah, we are. Why?"
"When are you going to get married?" He asks and leans closer to me.
"I don't know, Gray."
He sits back and throws his hands up in the air. "Well, what are you two waiting on? Corbin said the house you guys will live in just finished building the other day."
I almost choke on the cereal. "What?"
"Oops, that was supposed to be a secret." He puts his hands over his mouth and runs off.
"Gray! Let's go look at the house," I shout and he runs back to me.
"Okay!"
I grab my keys quickly and we get in the car after exiting the house. I drive over to Corbin's pack and up to where our house is. I told him that he could handle everything about the house being built, but he only asked me a few questions about what style and themes I like. I never thought he would get the house built as soon as he could and in as little amount possible. I didn't want him to feel pressured or rushed.
"Woah," Gray whispers in amazement and leans in between the driver's and passenger's seats.
I nod in agreement. I park in front of Corbin and I's new home. Corbin steps out of the stone house and walks over to the car. He opens my door and I unbuckle my seatbelt. "You built this?"
"I had help. Do you like it?" He gazes into my eyes and the breath is knocked right out of me. I nod and he gives me a quick kiss that is appropriate for Gray to see.
"Let's go look inside!" Gray exclaims.
"What happened to keeping a secret, Gray?" Corbin asks and Gray ducks his head.
"At least she likes it," he gives Corbin a sly smile and Corbin laughs.
"You got lucky, buddy." Corbin holds his hand out for me and I take it. "Let's go look inside our home."
The first floor included a huge kitchen filled with stainless steel appliances, two good sized bathrooms, an indoor pool room, a good sized family room, and an office for Corbin and me to share. There is a connected outdoor patio that is covered with a stairwell leading up to the second floor balcony. Corbin said he had to put in the balcony since I like to jump from second story buildings so much. The second floor has three bathrooms which include the master bath; the master has a double vanity, a closet, shower, and a big tub. There are four bedrooms which include the master; it has a king size bed with a white comforter and a huge walk-in closet (Corbin said I could decorate it more if I wanted to since it will be our room). The house has lots of windows, but more upstairs than downstairs.
I wrap my arms around Corbin's neck and smile at him. "I love it. I can't believe you designed this by yourself and got it built so quickly. The pool was a little bit extra, but I'm sure it will be put to good use."
He grins and leans down to kiss me.
"So, are you two going to get married now?" Gray says while jumping on the dark grey sectional in the family room.
Corbin grins down at me. "Are you ready to get married?"
I bite my lip and nod excitedly. Corbin grins and steps away from me. He gets something from his pocket and gets on one knee. He opens the small box that contains an engagement ring. "Oakley, my strong tree, the love of my life, I know you are going to say yes, but will you marry me?"
Tears come to my eyes, but I can't help but laugh. "Yes," I grin and hold out my left hand. He slips the delicate gold ring with five different sized diamonds on my finger.
"Yay! Can I help you pick out a dress?" Gray yells and begins jumping on the couch for the second time.
"Sure," I laugh.
One hour later, I am not laughing. News travels fast in his pack apparently because now Corbin's mom, Gray, and I are at a store dress shopping. Now let me just say that I did not pick out any of these dresses. They pushed me into a dressing room and began tossing dresses at me. Some I refused to show them because they were not appropriate for Gray to see.
Gray and Corbin's mom do not have the same taste though because they argue whether each dress is a yes, maybe, or no. In the end, Gray knew exactly which dress was perfect and Corbin's mother happily agreed. Even I didn't argue that this dress was the one. However, I did warn both of them that I would not be wearing heels for the wedding.
