The Last Request

(A/N: I have added media in some chapters like the 'SC: Light's Past'. If you want you can read it again and listen. xx.)

Kara's POV

We went inside this huge temple. We have journeyed for a whole day to get this far.

"Wala akong nakikita." Ria broke the silence.

The floor is wet and mushy. The whole place smells... old. The old I'm talking about is the ancient kind of old.

Nawala na yung odigos na ibinigay ng principal sa'min. It vanished in front of this place. So this must be it. Hindi kami nagkamali ng lugar.

I saw the glitter from one of the stone ceilings.

The light reflects at a 90° angle... and straight at us.

I stopped walking. I think this is thw center of the temple

"Akala ko ba nakapunta na kayo dito Chase?" tanong ni Ria.

"Sa Pilipinas lang yun. Eh iba to. Ito na yung main temple nila." he answered.

We must be at the center already. I have seen what the temple looks like. It was supposed to be light and colorful not dark and gloomy.

There must be 12 thrones encircling the center too. 12 silver thrones.

"Ah... I miss the sense of sight." We heard a man's voice frim behind.

We are indeed at the center.

"but it is the sinful part of a man." another voice spoke.

I closed my eyes and listened to the voices.

"They say the eyes are the windows of your soul."

"the eyes are the doorway to your heart."

"the eyes reflect the truth."

"the eyes show your deepest emotions."

Do they really have to be that dramatic?

Iba't-ibang boses ang naririnig namin ngayon. They're all confusing to listen to as if it seems like their voices are blending with the silence.

"you are scaring them."

After all those voices that I've heard, I finally knew the owner of one.

The Priestess of Apollo. She is the only woman in the council. Although, mas marami pa rin ang mga babaeng oracles compared to the men.

After a few seconds of silence, light from the ceiling finally went through.

And suddenly, it felt like we were in another world.

It felt like wisdom. The air smells of books and scrolls.

My brows met. There are 12 thrones yet only six oracles are present. The others might be busy. All we know is that the whole realms are disturbed by the prophecies. Of course, everybody is doing their job.

All of them are dressed in flowing white robes. Beside them are their staffs. One shaped like an orb, the other, a diamond. They all have unique staffs. They gain energy from it.

It is said that it can eat a person alive.

"You have come to save your Academy from shutting down?" tumayo ang babaeng nakaupo sa harap namin.

We didn't answer.

All of them already know what brought us here.

She smiled at us.

Her eyes...

She does not have eyes. Only two holes.

But she could still see us. She can sense our presence and smell our blood.

"We agree... only if you are willing to risk your lives for it." she announced with palms open pointing at us.

"We are." I answered. I still don't know why they are giving us questions when they are in fact oracles. Every question they ask, they already know the answer. Is that a new trend for them?

Her smile widened. "Fearless. Very well then." bumalik siya sa upuan niya.

"You will go to the Island of the Gorgons. The first prophecy will take place over there." She pointed west.

"How? We have no idea what the prophecies are in the first place." Ria shrugged.

Kumunot ang noo niya. "Are you sure about that?"

We gave each other confusing looks. The Principal told us about it... but not 'it'. Damn.

"We... want you to prevent the first prophecy from happening." she proclaimed.

Hmmm...

for the Gods are again, silent this time. They cannot speak with the Gods, can they? because of the prophecies. Everyone is afraid to make a connection. It might affect what Rhea has foretold.

"we cannot prevent it from happening and you know that." I objected.

"We want you to prevent it from happening..." she paused and looked at me. "but we need you to save the world from it. We need you to save all of us."

"Kara!" I heard someone shout my name.

Sand...

Breeze...

"Hi..." I saw the same oracle. But this time, may mga mata na siya.

"I am here to deliver your mother's last gift and message." she said facing the horizon.

I closed my eyes to smell the salty waters. And opened it just to see my weapon floating in front of us.

I summoned the shield. It flew and locked itself on my arm.

It actually stings.

In that moment, I realized this was not mine.

I tried to take it off but it wouldn't. I feel myself sweating because of the burn.

"This is a weapon made from a pint of Athena's blood... you know what I mean?"

I nodded then squinted my eyes for a bit.

"Yes. I was the one who sent that cake." natatawa niyang sabi.

Why does she find it funny? She almost killed me.

"Well... alam mo... when a mortal touches the blood of a God. He.. or she will die.." she started to explain.

"but when a demigod touches the blood of his.. or her deity... he or she may die..."

She may die?

"or her system decides to absorb that blood and feel pain."

"Absorb?" I looked at her and realized how old she is but too young to be an oracle.

"You know... I always dream of you... and your death."

I was taken aback by what she said. Me and my death?

Anong ibig niyang sabihin?

"A hero will kill you using a knife made out of Athena's sacred blood... He will stab you.. in the neck."

I don't know what happened but I almost lost my balance after hearing what she said.

It was harder to breathe.

"But that neck of yours is immune because it absorbed the ichor. Using a bit of poison, it successfully penetrated in your body. Ligtas ka... sa ngayon."

She was trying to save me?

"why are you doing this?" Of course, I questioned her actions. She knew how I will die and she helped me.

"because that is your mother's last request... to save you. So you can fulfill your mission." she smiled.

"mission?" I almost stuttered.

"Yes child. As a demigod, you are now obliged to follow your new mission.."

"Protect the world from the rebellion."
