22. Enjoy a Nice Bottle of Fire
Alex POV
And so, the war between aliens and humans began.
Kelli struck at me with her knife, but I dodged it effortlessly and counterattacked by kneeing her stomach. I approached her furiously, but before I could destroy her for good, something wrapped around my arm. My head whipped back, and low and behold, tiny cupid angels stood before me in all their mighty baby power.
"Its you!" The one who had my arm shrieked. "Oh, this is good. Wheat, check this out! Hey, Barley, its the Shmood girl!"
"Shmood?" The one called Barley giggled lowly. "We killed the older Shmood, right? The mother?"
"WHAT?!!" I screamed. Kelli stood up and laughed.
"Thanos hired them to intimidate you. They kind of screwed up and killed your mom. Thanos didnt mind. He knew the pain would only make you stronger, and, therefore, a better opponent for Jackson."
"I'm gonna murder you butt holes!"
In the blink of an eye, the three cupid angels melted to dust.
Kelli, looking at me dumbfounded before finally gaining her composure after many awkward seconds.
In those seconds, I had enough time to wonder why no monster or demigod or anything else was intervening with us.
Kelli took this opportunity of me being completely distracted to punch me in the face and run away. I chased after her, feeling the adrenaline in my veins pump faster than it ever has, and my determination and hatred become a weight in my heart that could only be lifted once Kelli was dead.
I found myself back inside Stark Tower, in the living room. Outside the window, I could see the war going on. Everyone looked ant-sized from the height we were at.
My friends were down their and they needed me.
"Let's just finish this," I told Kelli.
"You read my mind," Kelli smirked, pulling out a glass bottle filled with green fire. "This is Greek fire. Let me get away and I'll use this to kill all your friends. Take a step towards me, and the entire building, with you, will go in flames."
"Won't you die with me too?" I asked. Kelli shrugged.
"I'll go to Tatarus and return to earth a couple centuries from now. You'll be dead forever though. If you sacrifice yourself, it won't really be worth it."
At the moment, I didnt really care. I wanted this to be over with and done for. Tears trickled down my cheeks as I finally made my decision.
I was gonna die.
One step later, Kelli dropped the bottle of fire. It immediately exploded and engulfed me in flames. Unlike normal fire, I wasn't immune to this stuff. My skin blistered at the touch, and when I thought I would have to endure the pain until I died, a second explosion went off, pushing me through the glass walls of the building and into the air, flames still surrounding my entire body.
Nebula POV
I didnt have time to pay attention to my surroundings until after I had killed an oger.
Fire and debris rained down on the battle field, coming straight from Stark Tower.
Dr. Strange stood beside me, ready to attack.
I was going to communicate with the Doctor, when a familiar voice delayed my plans.
"Its a shame, really," Baron Mordo, the renowned sorcerer trained by the Ancient One, told Strange, shaking his head grimly. I recognized the magician as an old colleague of Thanos, and assumed he probably went to magic school with Strange. "Alex Shmood was up there. She was quite the girl. I met her in a seafood restaurant and served her a fish taco. She asked to feel my arms..." He paused to laugh humorously. "Had I not been sent there to poison her, we would've become great friends."
"You..." Confusion projected on Strange's face. "You were the one who poisoned her? Why?"
"I knew Alex could destroy the world, and I couldn't let that happen. So I made a deal with Nebula--"
"Shut up!" I hissed. "I don't care that you tricked me. Tell me where Thanos is."
"I am here, child," Thanos appeared behind me, still sitting on that ridiculous chair of his. I glanced at Strange, just in time to see the tears begin to fall on his face.
"He killed her," he muttered pitifully.
My attention went back to Thanos. "You coward! Peel your lazy butt off that chair and fight me!!"
"You were always the feisty one," he mumbled. "Let's get this over with so I can fight Gamora, a true match to me."
"Say what you want, father, but whether you like it or not, this ends now."
My war cry echoed louder than any other as I ran toward my father, two swords in my hands. I sliced down at his stomach with my right sword, and then his neck with my left. He pulled his own sword and countered both blows. Epic attacks were exchanged between the two of us when I finally saw my chance. I ran five feet away to a fully automatic machine gun, and shot away.
Silence. For a very long time after that, there was nothing but complete silence. Every villain, hero, and anything else in between was at a loss for words as Thanos looked down at his stomach full of bullets holes, and golden blood. Monsters rushed to his aid, picked him up, and carried him to his chair, where they began to retreat back to space, leaving the rest of Thanos's army.
"Don't let them get away!" Tony screamed.
"Its too late now!" I hissed. "Even if we could get to him, we don't have the strength. Thanos will have to make do with his original plan."
"Original plan?" Captain America asked.
"Yes," I nodded. "He will find and use the infinity stones, with which he'll demolish every living organism on the planet."
"Infinity stones?" Strange asked, obviously interested.
"Yes," I shrugged. "We'll just have to wait."
"Where's Alex?" Tony seemed to realize the absence of his favorite blue demigod.
"She's dead!" A monster from the crowds exclaimed. "Didnt you see her follow Kelli up the tower?"
"I'm gonna kill you, you little--"
"Tony!" Captain cried. "Calm down! Now that their leader is badly wounded, they have no point in fighting. There's no reason to continue the battle!"
"Alex deserves justice!" Tony hissed.
"I have an idea," Dr. Strange spoke up. "I can trap them in the mirror dimension and give Mordo a sling ring, which will be their only means of getting out. He has a fairly decent idea of morals, and may only release as many monsters as he likes. Mordo?" He turned to Baron Mordo, handing him a ring. "I suggest you leave the mythical creatures inside. We don't need immortal monsters threatening mankind."
"Indeed," Mordo smiled. "For once we can agree."
After the army of bad guys was sent to the mirror dimension, people began to tend to the wounded and search for Alex. But before we could do so, Thor Odinsdon appeared, looking very aggravated.
"Where is Loki?"
A/N
Posting early because I'll be on the road tommorrow.
Hello. I have an announcement.
Ever heard of Christopher Nolan (director of Dark Knight trilogy, Inception, Interstellar, and now, quite recently, Dunkirk)? He's probably the greatest movie director known to man. And his movies are incredible.
You need to binge watch all of his movies NOW. And maybe do some Lord of the Rings (by Peter Jackson) while you're at it. (You'll thank me later.)
