2. Joining the Earth's Mightiest Heroes SUCKS!!!

Natasha Romanav POV

Screams echoed across the room as everyone stood in shocked silence. I looked out the shattered window, hoping the girl was alive, only to discover a choking Bruce and a frustrated Thor.

The girl had survived the jump and was unscathed.

"JARVIS!" I spoke into an earpiece. "What can you tell me about the girl strangling Bruce with a plant?"

"Her name is Alexis Shmood," JARVIS chimed. "She is suspected of killing her mother Tiffany Shmood. Her biological father is unknown. She's fourteen, height five feet, two inches--"

"Tell the rest of the Avengers to bring her into custody immediately."

"Yes, miss."

I observed the people outside the window. Finally, Tony flew in from behind the girl and knocked her out cold with a sick punch.

"Okay, everyone," I turned to the tourists. "Follow me into this room."

Everyone followed anxiously.

"This is what we Avengers call the amnesia chamber," I smiled and gestured around me. I didn't know how the room worked, but it did its job quite fine. "What it is is a room that we lead people who see classified events into, so that they don't remember anything afterwards."

Several people screamed and rushed to the exit, but I blocked it easily.

"Don't worry," I said. "It isn't painful or harmful to your health."

I walked out the room before chaos erupted.

-----

After Tony's friendly robots dragged the unconscious tourists into chairs in the conference room, I blew a blow horn and went through my routine of thanking everyone for coming. People shuffled there way to the exit except for one girl.

"Excuse me?" she asked. "I was with my friend earlier, but she disappeared."

"Yes," I nodded. "She walked into the doorway when we asked the mutant to come forward."

"Really?" The girl's eyes widened. "I didn't think she'd have the guts to do that! Why don't I remember...?" She scratched her head nervously. "Will you have her contact me soon? She knows my phone number."

"Sure," I smiled.

She walked away confused. I guess she knew about her friends powers? Its rare to meet normal people who accept the weird. I grinned appreciatively at the girl even though she couldn't see me... And even though her friend was a psycho.

Clint Barton POV

"Hey, kid," I walked into the interrogation room to find the first kid who claimed to be a mutant earlier. "My names Clint, and you are...?"

The girl looked up revealing dark brown eyes and a warm, caramel complexion. Her raven black hair dangled over her shoulders, and some parts were braided away from her face.

Her eyes were skeptical and curious, full of resentment and stubbornness, but if you looked deep enough into those eyes, you'd see sadness, grief, despair, and a spark of determination. I knew that look; I had it myself.

"I'm Diana Olly," she said softly. "I'm sixteen years old and I only did this cause it comes with benefits like money. Let's get this over with before I of die of boredom."

"Okay," I sneered at her attitude. "What're your powers?"

"Telepathy," she laughed weakly, as if it was forced. "And I can make you die at my will."

"Oh," I shuffled uncomfortably. "I don't need an example."

She chuckled again, but with more sincerity. "Good. All I want is to punch someone in the face right now. Can you just put me in a place with the Avengers?"

I sighed. "Fine. But its not completely official until the whole team agrees, and we don't plan on making that decision until we get to know you, like a month or two from now. Understand?"

"Perfectly," Diane smiled evilly. I swear she plans on killing someone.

-----

"So..." I stared at the boy. He was the other kid who claimed to be a mutant. His hair was obsidian black and sleeked back with excessive amounts of hair gel, and his eyes were a venomous green. "What is your name?"

"David Westmore," David bit his lip.

"How old are you?"

"I just turned fifteen a couple days ago," he smiled as if that was supposed to be exciting.

"And your powers?" I looked at him expectantly.

He paused for a moment to give me a sly grin. "Don't freak out." He vanished from his chair and appeared in the corner of the room just like an old, evil god-friend of mine could.

"Anything else?" I blinked.

"I can tell people what to do," he shrugged, baffled that I had not freaked out. "They do my bidding no matter how stupid or crazy it is. Eventually, it wears off on them and they realize their mistake, but-- If I told you to give me a BMW, you'd do it."

I nodded in understanding. This kid was a tiny Loki, god of mischief and trickery.

"What now?" He gulped loudly. "Are you gonna tie me up and experiment on me?"

"No," my eyes narrowed. "Why would we do that? You can train with the team and we'll determine if you should join or go home after a couple months or so."

"Really?" He beamed. "That's so cool!"

A loud thud came from the door, followed by a moan. The door swung open and Natasha dragged in a wounded girl.

"Can I borrow this room for a while?" She asked. I nodded.

"Good," she grinned. "Take that plant out of here before she wakes up."

I gestured David to follow me, picked up a plant occupying the corner of the investigation room, and then exited the room.

"What's wrong with that girl?" David gasped. "You're not going to hurt her, are you?"

"Nope," I shook my head. "I heard JARVIS speak in my earpiece. Apparently, she attacked some of the team members."

"Wow," David scoffed. "That's stupid."

"I know, right? Obviously, she's some crazy person," I giggled.

Alex Shmood POV

"I'm not crazy!!" I threw my hands up in surrender. "I just like privacy! And I don't want my whole life to be exposed!!"

"And it won't be," Natasha sighed. "We made everyone forget what happened back there, so no one knows what you are except the Avengers. I would let you go now, but you're suspected of homicide, so I have no choice but to keep you."

Oh. She knew about my mom's death.

Several years ago, my mom went deep into the forest where she would never come out alive again. I heard her scream, but by the time I got to her, she was dead. She was choked by plants, and so everyone in the family pointed their fingers toward me, directing the cops my way. That's exactly why I left. Later, I found a home in Sarah's house. Her parents were nice enough to take me in as their own, but none of them knew about the investigation.

"Hello?" Natasha snapped her fingers in front of my face.

"Yes?" I asked.

"I said," Natasha cleared her throat. "Are you guilty of killing your mother?"

"No," I pounded my fists on the table agitatedly. I hated when people asked me that question. Especially since almost everyone asked me that question. "I swear. I just... I don't know. She just kinda died out of the blue! I didnt do it!"

"Okay," Natasha shrugged. "I believe you. We can make arrangements so you can enter training. No one needs to know your identity and that your associated with us."

"Do I have a choice?" I shouted frustratedly.

"If you join, Shield can free you of all the charges pressed against you," Natasha grinned like a mad man.

I crossed my arms and kicked the air like a toddler would, screaming.

"Geez!" Natasha cringed, covering her ears. "Shut up!!!"

My blood curdling screech came to a stop.

"I'll join," I nodded my head. "But on several conditions. Yes, please, get rid of my charges, but I also want a suit, just in case. Also, I want a new home in Stark tower, free food, access to important places like the kitchen, I need a TV, I want a bunch of other things so when I think about them, give it to me, and I most definitely want freedom-- I want freedom to go outside and explore, see and make friends, and be a normal, teenage girl who goes to a normal highschool."

"Okay," Natasha bit her lip. "Fine. I'll talk to the boss."

Natasha left the room, slightly perturbed by my ridiculously long list of requests.

"Uuuuuuuuuuuuughhhhhhh!!!" I groaned. "I. HATE. EVERYTHINGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!"

I slammed my head onto the table frustratedly. This day couldn't get any worse. I began to laugh one of those laughs people laugh when their lives suck. Laugh.

"Why the heck did I try to run away when I was offered a spot on the Avengers!?!" I muttered. "What is wrong with me? I NEED CHOCOLATE!!!!"

I think its that time of the month again...

A/N

Haha. I don't remember writing that last sentence...
