18. Welcome to the Magical Land of Arm Pit Sweat and Farts
David Westmore POV
Diane, Alex, and I had been staying at Camp Half Blood for hours, doing nothing except learning about mythology and fighting.
Ever since our little interrupted meeting, Chiron seemed too distracted to talk about anything insane.
As time passed by, Alex grew very irritated, wincing and bringing her hand to her head.
"You okay?" I asked.
"Yup," she muttered, obviously not okay.
"We should take you to the infirmary," Diane suggested.
"I'm fine!" Alex insisted. "Its just the lack of sleep! Also, I've been a little dead. I'll be fine in a few days time. Just let me recover from the crap that's happened to me."
I grunted, satisfied with her answer, but Diane was not looking very pleased. "You need a check up."
"I need nothing," Alex continued. "I'm fine."
"Suit yourself," Diane shrugged, crossing her arms angrily. "If you want to suffer, suffer."
"Thank you for being so understanding," Alex sarcastically grinned.
Dinner was served, and we still had unfinished business with Chiron. It was bugging the crap out of me that he wasn't saying anything. I wanted to know about my godly parent. I wanted to know what we should do next.
But Alex seemed to have other plans.
When the sky began to darken, she stood up, almost as if in a trance, and began walking toward the borders of the camp.
"Alex?" Diane called.
No answer.
"Hey! Wait up!" I sped to Alex's side, pulling Diane along with me.
"What're you doing?" Diane demanded. Alex glanced back at us. Then, she turned her attention back to wherever she was going.
"Answer my question!" Diane shouted angrily.
"Stay away, mortal," Alex commanded in an eery, hollow voice.
"Holy heck!" I cursed with a gasp.
"Alex, are you okay?" Diane asked.
"Alex is no longer here," Alex stated. "We are in full control of her."
"What do you mean?" Diane hissed at our friend.
"Alex is dead," Alex continued. "We will kill Percy Jackson."
"Pardon?" I squeaked in a manly way. "Kill...?"
I would've finished my sentence had my voice not failed me and cracked. Regretfully, I admit I spoke several octaves higher than I normally do, resulting in me sounding like a little girl.
"We will kill Percy Jackson," Alex repeated herself, confidence dripping from her words. "You cannot stop us. You wont get in my way."
"Huh?" I gulped.
Diane yelped and disappeared into the grass. She was being dragged by something. Her scream trailed all the way to the forest.
"Diane!" I cried, running to her aid.
"Don't leave," Alex shouted from behind me. "We haven't finished our conversation yet!"
I felt something scary eerily curl around my ankle, and was suddenly being pulled to the ground and dragged into the opposite side of the forest. My face forcefully made contact with the ground and dots danced across my eyes. I groaned frustratedly as I watched the Camp Half Blood campsite disappear and the leaves and trees become thicker. I tried to keep my eyes open for as long as possible, but finally, my eyelids failed me, and my vision went completely black.
Leo Valdez POV
Mcshizzle is here.
Yep. That's right. The ultimate supreme leader of the Argo II, one of the prophetic seven, the one demigod who did the most hard work while defeating Gaea, and the only person of the twenty first century to die and come back, is here. And he's me.
And I got hot dog.
Okay, so maybe I didnt do the most work to defeat Gaea, but I sure did a lot of it. I mean, I did kind of die to save everyone.
"Why did you hand the guy a twenty dollar bill?" Jason asked me. "He asked for six dollars."
"Because I didnt want any change," I shrugged. "And he looked like he needed the cash. I mean, he smelled terrible."
"I think you were just smelling the wonderful aroma of New York City," Piper scoffed. "It practically smells like a dump here."
"Has it always smelled like this?" Hazel wondered, perturbed. "I've always imagined it smelling like pizza and baked goods."
"You thought that because books and movies romanticize the city," Annabeth chimed. "They've turned this place into some perfect, wonderful dreamland that everyone will love, when in reality there's cigarettes and gum littered on the ground, and everything smells like arm pit sweat and farts."
"True that," I stated. "But you'll never find cheesecake or pizza like the New Yorker's anywhere else."
Everyone-- that is Jason, Piper, Hazel, Frank, Nico, and Annabeth-- nodded and hummed in agreement.
"So what exactly are we doing here?" Frank asked. "You'd think the praetor of New Rome would know why his meetings for the next week were canceled."
"We got a call from Percy," Piper said. "He told us that his friend died and his other friend was possessed by an eidolon. Eventually, the eidolon told him and his friends that the dead friend has been brought from the dead, and has her for ransom. They're doing something, I'm not sure what, to satisfy the eidolons wishes."
"And?" Jason's eyebrows furrowed curiously.
"And he asked for our help," Piper shrugged. "When I first talked to Chiron about their dead friend, he acted all weird. I think he had some important meeting with that superhero girl. Anyways, after my talk with Chiron, I realized our help wasn't very necessary, but it would definitely help Percy feel one hundred percent about the entire situation."
"All that's happened and he hasn't contacted me?" Annabeth crossed her arms. "I hope he's okay. That's a lot of crap to worry about."
"Who are Percy's friends?" I asked randomly.
"He never specified that," Piper lightly shrugged.
Suddenly, the ground rumbled beneath us, and screams erupted through the air. The sickening sweet smell of garbage was replaced by the scent of fresh dirt.
"What in the name of Hades is that?" Hazel gasped.
The ground shook again, this time more violently.
"Apocalypse?" I suggested.
"Not while I'm still living," Annabeth pulled a knife from her belt.
All the people drew weapons, and I pulled a huge hammer from my tool belt.
"Let's get ready to rumbo!" I shouted excitedly.
The ground vibrated beneath my feet with ten times more force than ever, making me become off balance. I fell on my butt and groaned in pain. Suddenly, the Earth opened beneath my body and I fell into a deep abyss, crying for help. Darkness consumed my vision as I remember hitting my head against something rock hard. Then, my mind slipped into unconsciousness.
A/N
I was hungry and wanted a midnight snack, so I grabbed one of those pretzel packets with the thing of cheese dip on the side and shoved the food in my pants so I could sneak away with the food without being noticed. I immediately turned to go to my bedroom, but stopped to find my mother staring at me with wide eyes. She didnt tell me to take the snack out of my pants, but I knew she was aware that it was there. She just kind of walked away awkwardly with this weird expression on her face. Hahahaha. I'm eating my pretzels now.
This is a question my friend needs to answer. thebestwhovian
