Chapter 4
Lilith's POV
"What? They came back without Potter?"
Voldemort slams his hand on the table, the whole room watching his actions with fear. Even me, and I'm his 'second in command' if you want me to name what I am.
"My Lord, Potter and his friends Obliviated their minds and left. They left without a trace, my Lord." One of them, a tiny man, apologizes and kisses the floor where Voldemort's feet once were. "Our sincere apologies, my Lord."
"Your apologies mean nothing to me. I asked, no, I ordered you to capture them and you failed." Voldemort turns to me and shakes his hand towards the two men. "Finish them."
I stand from my seat next to him and slither towards them, my wand pointed at their head.
"Slowly, Master?"
"Painfully."
"As you wish." I raise my hand and point it at the ceiling, whispering a few spells. Knives start falling from the air and towards the two men who scream and run out of the room. "Should I follow them?"
"Yes. I have to meet a certain wizard."
Voldemort and I leave the room at the same time, but we part ways when I find the stupid men hiding inside the kitchen.
"Crucio!" I curse them when the doors open and they scream in agony. "Shut up! SHUT UP!"
I send the spell with a higher intensity, their bodies tossing and turning on the floor. Voldemort wants them to suffer, so I have a new punishment ready for them, my kind working faster than my hands.
"GET UP!"
They follow my command and I release them from the spell, only to firmly hold them again a few seconds later.
"CRUCIO!"
They fall once again on their knees, leaving me to do whatever I want with them.
"You failed us all. You should be ashamed!" I scream on their ears, their flinches unnoticed between groans and shakes.
"Sorry..." They say over and over again, but I can't let them distract me from my mission.
"Being sorry isn't enough. You are going to pay."
Today, the number of deaths I've caused raised... From one to three.
------------
Amycus stops the Hogwarts Train with his hands and we open the doors, dozens of Death Eaters ready to patrol the train and control every soul that tries to fight us.
"My father will hear about this." A boy, wearing yellow clothes, says and I snort. Hearing these words coming out of a boy's mouth instead of Draco's is weird.
I look around the compartment I'm in and find my old friends staring at us, not recognizing me. Good, the disguise is actually working.
Neville raises from his seat in front of Ginny.
"Hey, losers." He says. "He isn't here."
How does he know what we're looking for? It's actually very easy to figure out and we spread papers around Hogsmeade and the Wizarding World, declaring Harry as the undesirable number one. Meh, couldn't care less.
"Watch your mouth, Longbottom." I threaten, my wand against his neck in seconds.
"Carrow." Someone says behind me, probably Bruno. "Keep your cool. Save your anger for the classes."
I smirk and eye the little rats sitting on their seats, some shaking with fear, others trembling with rage.
"See you in a few hours."
We leave the train and Apparate inside Hogwarts, the spell that protected those ground long gone.
"Remember what he said." Bruno warns. "You can torture them all you want, but only inside the classrooms. Calm down."
I nod and start making my way to my new room. Amycus won't be staying at the room the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher is assigned to so he gave it to me. All my belonging are there, aside from my wand.
"Do you know who I saw inside that compartment?" He says before I leave the area.
"Who?"
"Your Draco. And he was looking for you."
"How is he? I haven't seen him in a while."
"Lilith, you were together yesterday before he left to pack." Bruno eyes me with uneasy. "You remember that, don't you?"
I take a step back and stare back at him.
"No, I saw him a few days ago when I went back to the Mansion when I left the trio." I argue.
"Lilith, yesterday you were in tears when Draco left. How can you not remember that?"
"You're wrong, I haven't seen Draco in days." I stand my ground, but not so sure anymore. "And you can ask him if you want."
"Fine, fine. If you say so." Bruno raises his hands. "But you should check your head, it's not working properly."
"Meh meh meh, you open your mouth and only bullshit comes out!" I play with my fingers as I walk to my room. No one is here yet, the train is almost here and I have to get ready.
The door to my room is locked when I get there, but I quick shove and a swift movement of my wand and it opens in a instant. I'm greeted by the smell of mold and dust.
"This was definitely a man's room before." I complain but start working.
My bags fly from under the bed and open, showing me my options: blue or black walls? Probably black, I shouldn't show any emotion and any other color besides black shows my mood. I will probably choose black or grey, but I have to start cleaning before doing anything else.
A broom appears out of no where and starts cleaning, some other towel wiping the dust out of the bed, wardrobe and desk. I sit back and watch them do their job. It's so easy to do this.
"Next, colors!" I'm actually excited, decorating a room is something I haven't done in a while.
Black for the walls, white for the bed sheets, my black and dark clothes hanging inside the closet, and a black desk with a nice blue chair attached to it and my room is officially mine. I couldn't help myself, blue is my favorite color after all.
When I'm finally done, I sit back and admire my masterpiece, but a soft knock on the door startles me. I look at the mirror behind the door and check my disguise. On point, so I open the door and look up at Professor McGonagall, who stares down at me in silence.
"How can I help you, Professor?" My voice is deeper than before.
"It's time to greet the students, Carrow." She says and leaves me to find my cloak and follow her out of the room.
I follow her until we stop near the school entrance, not a soul outside. McGonagall turns around to face me and her eyes show her worry.
"You're not mean." She states. "At least not like them."
"How do you know that, Professor?"
"First: you called me Professor, not Old Rag; second: you're not punishing me for talking to you or looking at you. So, yes, I do believe you're not as mean as you show."
"Very astute, Professor. But I was given a very good education here, and I believe we should respect older and more intelligent people."
"But I don't remember teaching a girl named 'Beatrice Carrow'."
"That's because she doesn't even exist. But I believe you'll keep this to yourself, right?" I smirk and leave her behind, opening the doors that will lead me to my new future as a teacher.
At least an assistant.
---------------
It's a chilly night. Everything is quiet, not even a whisper is heard. My first time here was also intimidating, but nothing like this. Dozens of students stare at the teachers' table with hateful eyes. At least their glances are directed to the new teachers.
The old ones, like McGonagall and Slughorn are looked at with pity and fear. The new teachers... Well, that's another story.
Amycus Carrow, the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher is sitting by my left, the man I'll be helping this year. I'm supposed to be his assistance, so I have to be there in every class he teaches, every single day. I don't know what to expect, but anything coming from a Death Eater should be looked at with careful eyes.
His sister, sitting by my right, Alecto Carrow is teaching Muggle Studies, which is very odd for a 'pureblood' like her. She's mean and angry all the time, so I try not to cross her path.
Severus starts introducing the new teachers and when I hear my name I stand and face the crowd of scared and concerned students.
"Beatrice Carrow will be assisting her brother, Amycus, in Defense Against the Dark Arts. It doesn't mean she can't punish you. You have to respect her and treat her like a teacher, because she can and she will teach you when Amycus needs to leave." Severus' voice echoes around the room, everyone taking in his words. "Now let the dinner begin."
The dinner is nothing like the past ones. Tasteless food and dirty water appear in front of the students, but nothing appears in front of the teachers.
I look at my left and see Amycus getting up from his seat. He holds out his hand for me and I it his, letting him guide me through the crowd and out of the Great Hall.
"What's going on?" I ask. "Why aren't we eating there with the students?"
"This isn't the old school you used to know." He smirks as we walk towards the big atrium outside. "You'll get used to it soon."
Then, dozens of tables appear in front of us, the big space filled with tables and chairs, delicious food on top of them. Dozens of plates magically fill as water and juices fill the jars near the end of the tables.
Definitely different from what I was used to.
"We are not going to eat that nasty food. We are Death Eaters, we control the school." He says as he sits and grabs a big piece of meat. "This is our school now."
Heck, this is going to be a tough year.
