Wedding Day
Bree had just graduated from college with her master's degree. Which meant it was time to finally get married to the love of her life...Conner Bailey. She and Conner didn't want a big wedding. To be honest, they could have just gone to the courthouse and signed the papers, but their family disagreed. They wanted to plan a big wedding for them, but Conner and Bree convinced them to plan a small wedding with just close family and friends.
Bree and Conner chose a venue out in California where all their family and friends lived. It was a really nice hotel that was on the beach. Their ceremony would be on a grassy field overlooking the beach and the reception was going to be on the same field just feet away with fairy lights hanging from the trees, a dance floor and tables with flower and leaf centerpieces on them.
It was the day of the wedding and things were crazy. Alex, Arianna (Brees mom), and Charlotte were setting everything up at the hotel with the help of the hotel staff.
"The flowers are supposed to be on the tables for the reception," Alex told one of the hotel staff members. Conner then came out of the hotel and saw everyone rushing around.
"Everythings not done yet?" Conner said panicked loosening his tie.
"It almost is. Don't worry." Alex said walking over to her brother.
"Why am I so nervous?" Conner said and wiped his forehead with a cloth napkin from the table.
"Conner!" Alex whined because of the cloth napkin. "We just have enough cloth napkins."
"Sorry, but why am I so nervous?" Conner said and sat down on one of the chairs. "I've known Bree for years and she's always felt like family to me, so why am I so nervous to make it official?"
"Everyone feels that way on their wedding day. It just comes with the day. Once the ceremony is over your going to feel so relieved and your lives will go on the way it's always been."
"I hope so because I wouldn't change a thing," Conner said and stood up and looked over to the table full of food. "Could I just take one bacon-wrapped scallop? I'm starving!"
"Absolutely not!" Alex said and pushed her brother to the door. "There's a McDonalds not far from here. Plus the ceremony starts in an hour, I think you'll survive."
"Fine," Conner said. "I'll go see if the hotel has any more of those pillow mints."
Conner walked back into the hotel, and Alex walked over to Arianna and Charlottle who were fixing the centerpieces on the tables.
"Alex honey you should go get dressed. We're starting in an hour." Charlotte said. Charlotte was wearing a floor-length royal blue flowing dress with long bell sleeves and a silver belt. Her hair was down and curled and she wore a pair of silver heels.
"No there's still so much to do," Alex said.
"Alex, you're the maid of honor. You should be with Bree and the others upstairs. You've done enough here." Arianna said. Arianna was wearing a rosegold knee-length dress that was off the shoulder. Her hair was long so it was put into a side braid and wore a pair of platform heels.
"Your right. I'll see you both in an hour." Alex said and she ran back into the hotel and into the elevator to the 8th floor. Alex got off the elevator and knocked on the door of room 805. Maddie, Bree's best friend, opened the door.
"Alex! Thank God! We've been trying to call you for the past 30 minutes," Maddie said pulling Alex into the room. The room was small and smelled like perfume and hairspray.
"Alex, how is everything downstairs? Bree said as one of her friends, Ashley from college, did her hair and makeup.
"It's going well, everything is almost set up," Alex said.
"Oh good. I heard some noise downstairs and I got worried." Bree said.
"No need, everything should be ready in time. Should we get our dresses on? Alex asked.
"Oh yes, they were delivered this morning along with my reception dress and wedding dress. The bridesmaid's dresses are hanging in the bathroom." Bree said as she looked in the mirror at her makeup and hair.
Her bridesmaids Amanda, Janie and Ella, her sisters, Maddie, Kendall, and Ashley her best friends from college and high school, and her maid of honor Alex all went into the bathroom three at a time and got changed into the bridesmaid's dresses.
"Bree, all I have to say is thank you!" Kendall said coming out of the bathroom twirling in her dress. "Thank you for choosing short dresses. I can't imagine dancing all night in a long one."
Bree smiled and laughed. "Your welcome, I think it looks really good."
The bridesmaid's dresses were knee-length and were a dark lavender color and had a tulle bottom, a jewel neckline, and a silver jewel belt. Everyone's hair was down with beach wave curls and they wore short silver heels.
"The wedding starts in 30 minutes, we should head downstairs to see if everything is ready." Maddie said.
"Oh, I'll go," Alex said.
"No Alex you have to stay here and help me tie up my dress," Bree said. "They were with me when I bought it, you haven't seen it yet. You guys can go downstairs, Alex and I will be there soon."
Everyone hugged Bree one final time before the ceremony and went downstairs.
"So where's the dress?" Alex asked excitedly.
"It's in the closet," Bree said and rubbed her hands together nervously.
"Ok, what's wrong?"
"There's a problem," Bree said and bit her bottom lip.
"What happened?"
"Apparently when it was delivered this morning, one of the bellhops that was taking up here had his lunch in his hands, he opened the bag to take a look and this happened," Bree said. She opened the closet and two dresses were there. The wedding dress was in the bag, and her reception dress was next to it. She opened the bag and Alex gasped and put her hands over her mouth. The beautiful a-line tulle gown with a floral lace halter top had a huge red stain on it.
"Oh my God! Is that ketchup?"
"I smelled it, I think he was having a shrimp cocktail," Bree said. "Can you fix it?"
"Of course I can," Alex said. "It's really pretty, and your reception is even prettier. It's so you. You know I always imagined you in a like a lavender and white wedding dress."
"Yeah, I know," Bree said and sat on the bed. "I wanted one like that, but you know. It's not traditional and not many people make them. Plus, my mom wanted white. I got my way with the simplicity of it."
"You know I could have made you one right?"
"That's why your here and not everyone else," Bree said and stood up. "I chose this dress because my mom liked it and it was the only one I liked out of all the ones I tried on. I convinced my mom on the purple reception dress since it was for the reception and not the ceremony. I just need you to fix this. I just don't want to marry Conner in a dress that everyone wears on their wedding day. I'm not normal, and I'm definitely not marrying into a normal family. We're unique and I wanted a unique dress that symbolized me and Conner. So do you think you can fix this?"
"Of course I will," Alex said and gave her future sister in law a massive hug. "Let's get this dress on first so I can fix it."
Alex helped Bree into the ruined wedding dress. She then snapped her fingers and a brand new dress formed around Bree. After the transformation was complete, Bree was so overjoyed she was crying tears of happiness.
"I love it!" Bree said as she looked in the mirror. "Thank you, I'm ready."
Downstairs all of their guests had arrived and were waiting for the ceremony to start. Conner walked down the aisle and he saw his old friends, Froggy (who was in his human form), Jack, Red, Hero and Goldilocks.
"Guys! I am so glad you came! Thank you, Hero, for being the ring bearer. Want to go stand next to Arthur?" Conner said excitedly and hugged each of them and Hero went over to stand next to Arthur with the rings. "And Red, thank you for dressing like a normal person."
"Alex dressed me," Red said in an annoyed tone. "I would have worn my red ball gown, but Alex said it was too big." Red was wearing a long red sleeveless dress and had her hair in a braided loose bun and wore diamond earrings.
"You still look good Red."
"I tried telling her that. She was crying for a whole hour." Goldilocks said. Alex made Goldilocks a gold-colored jumpsuit and her hair was down in her signature curls.
"Congratulations Conner," Jack and Froggy said.
"Thanks, guys. I'm so nervous, all I want right now, is to see Bree, tell her my vows, and eat food." Conner said. "I haven't eaten in two days."
"I can't wait to see Bree's dress. That's always my favorite part of weddings." Red said.
"Well, it's about to start I better get up there," Conner said. "Thank you for coming."
Conner walked up to the alter that overlooked the ocean. He turned to his best men, who were Arthur, Jacob, who was Maddies husband and his roommate/best friend in college, his two other roommates/best friends from college Henry and Michael, and his 3 Brother in laws, Tom, who was Ella's husband, Jackson, who was Janie's husband, and Mo, who was Amanda's husband.
"Um, guys where is Paster Thomas?" Conner asked Jacob.
"Bob is on the phone with him now," Jacob said.
"Ok, bad news," Bob said running up to them.
"What?" Conner said.
"Pastor Thomas got into a car accident on the way here."
"Oh my God, is he ok?" Arthur said.
"He's fine, if having a broken back and not being able to breathe on his own is ok. His daughter is the one who called me." Bob said. "He'll be in the hospital for a while."
"That's it. I can't get married now." Conner said and combed his hands through his hair.
"You do know I am an officially ordained minister right?" Jacob said.
"You are?" Conner and Bob said.
"Yeah, I took a course online last year," Jacob said.
"Why didn't you tell me?!" Conner said in a surprised tone.
"I did when you were planning this entire thing," Jacob said.
"You know what, never mind. Will, you officiate my wedding?" Conner asked desperately.
"Of course I will my friend," Jacob said and patted Conner's shoulder. He fixed his tie, took a comb out of his pocket and slicked back his hair and he went and stood in front in the center of the alter.
"Arthur, are you an ordained minister?" Conner whispered to his brother in law.
"Not in this world. Why? Jacob can do it." Arthur said.
"I don't trust him to take it seriously. He's just too much like me." Conner said. "What about you Bob?"
"Everything will be fine Conner. Ok, it's time." Bob said and went back to his seat in the front row next to Charlotte.
The pianist then started the wedding march. Annabelle who was the Flowergirl came down first and ran into her father's arms after. Then each of the bridesmaids came down the aisle and lined up. Alex followed and was in the front of the line.
Bree and her father Edward then came down the aisle. Everyone was in awe. Bree's dress was nothing like they've ever seen before. The top of the dress was white with lace flowers and little crystals that made the dress shine on top and it also had a little silver crystal belt. The bottom of the dress was satin and the top was white then blended into a sky blue and the sky blue blended into a lavender purple making an ombre effect. She was also wearing a crystal pair of heels Alex made for her, and Bree's hair was down in beach wave curls and half of her hair was braided in the back and at the top of her head was crystal vine headpiece and a white veil followed her with crystals cascading down it.
She walked to the end of the aisle with her dad and Conner took her hands into his.
"Wow," Conner said with a smile and his face was getting red. "You look beautiful."
"Thanks," Bree said and smiled. "What's Jacob doing?"
Before Conner could answer, Jacob started his speech.
"We are gathered here today to celebrate the marriage of Bree Campbell and Conner Bailey. I am your minister for this evening because Pastor Thomas is in the hospital with a broken back. Let's pray he survives and starts breathing on his own soon." Jacob started. Bree was shocked as this was the first time she had heard the news and Conner rolled his eyes and gave his friend a look telling him to move on. "Well, besides that, this is my first time doing this so don't judge me if I make a mistake. I just want to start out by saying that, I've known these two for our entire college career. Conner was my roommate for all four years and Bree was like our second roommate because she was around a lot. These two already acted like an old married couple so I have faith that that kind of relationship will continue on. Now I think you two have prepared your own vows."
Conner took out a folded sheet of paper from his pocket, he unfolded it and started to read...
"Ever since I met you back in middle school I knew you were the one. Out of hundreds of girls at our middle school, you were the one that stood out to me. You were more beautiful than anyone I had ever met. Inside and out. When we went on our trip to Germany and you decided to come with me to go on our European adventure away from our teacher and classmates, that's when I saw your adventuress, brave and fun side come out. Before then I just saw a really smart, talented, beautiful, and insanely cool girl. I then found out there was so much more to you and it confirmed my suspicions...you were meant to be my true love. You were the one I was going to spend the rest of my life with. I thought true love was only in fairytales and that I would never found anyone that could make me happy. Then you came into my life and made me a better person and the happiest person in the world. With that said, I promise to always do what you want, no matter how dangerous or boring it sounds. I promise to cook dinner when you're working late and not sit on the couch eating chips all day. I also promise to take you on more adventures and continue being the adventuress, comedic boy you fell in love with. So, I hope to go on more adventures with you and have fun for as long as we live. I like you and I love you forever."
"Wow...that was good. My vows to Maddie were just I love you followed by let's party. Good luck following that up Bree."
"I'll try to be better," Bree said and laughed and pulled out her sheet of paper.
"Every little girl dreams of finding her prince charming and how he'll sweep her off her feet. I never did because as a child I thought my future would be me alone in an apartment in New York City, with maybe a dog, writing books and being a famous author. Nowhere in my life plan involved falling in love and definitely not at the young age I was when I did. No guy had ever shown interest with me, then you came along and changed my life forever, you showed me a side of myself I never knew was there. You took me on adventures and brought me out of my dark and quiet shell. Thank you for that. With that said, I promise to always have the cabinets filled with sour cream and onion potato chips and lucky charms cereal. I hope you keep your promise on taking me on more adventures. I also promise to continue being the fun, and adventuress, cool girl you fell in love with all those years ago. Finally, thank you for going through the first half of my life with me and for giving me the best childhood memories I will ever have. I hope to make more great memories with you as we grow old and grey together. Thank you for saving me from an incredibly lonely life and thank you for being my knight in shining armor and sweeping me off my feet. You are my hero and my best friend. I hope to continue going on adventures and having fun together as long as we live. I like you and I love you forever."
At this point, everyone was in tears including Conner and Bree.
"Does someone have a box of tissues on hand, cause I didnt expect that," Jacob said and used his sleeve to wipe his tears. A hotel staff member then ran over with a box of tissues as he was crying too and took a tissue for himself and ran back to his spot.
"Can we have the rings now?" Jacob said as he held the box of tissues out to Conner and Bree and they took one to wipe their tears.
Hero, who was the ring bearer, brought them the rings. Conner put the ring on Bree's finger and Bree followed by putting the ring on Conners.
"As your officially ordained minister, I now pronounce you husband and wife, you may kiss the bride," Jacob said.
Bree put her hands on Conner's face and pulled him in for a kiss. Everyone stood up and cheered for the newlyweds. The rest of the night went off without a hitch, everyone danced the night away and Bree put on her reception dress which was an a-line lavender-colored dress with crystal flowers on the top that cascaded down the dress. Bree and Conner had the night of their life and were excited to start the second part of their life as husband and wife. They were also excited to see what else life had in store for them.
