The Ski Lodge

Today was a class trip up to Vermont. Bree and Conner were so excited. It would be their first school trip since Germany, but this time. It was their entire English class, their teacher and their Moms.

"Ok is everyone here?" Ms. Polk yelled to her entire class who were all mingling in-front of the airport.

"Are you excited? I've never been skiing before." Conner said to Bree.

"I'm really excited, but hey I got to tell you something, before our moms get back from checking our bags." Bree said.

"What is it?"

"My mom doesn't know we're dating." Bree said and smiled.

"What?!" Conner said with surprise. "I thought your dad was telling her."

"Yeah, apparently he's very scared of my mom."

"I thought he was in the war?"

"Yeah my moms a dance mom. Dance moms are scarier." Bree said with an awkward laugh. "So no hugging, and nothing else this entire week. Basically we can't talk at all."

"Hey guys." Charlotte said walking towards them with Mrs. Campbell walking next to her.

"So Bree our bags are checked so let's get on the plane." Mrs. Campbell said.

"Mom, you remember Conner right?"

"Of course I do." Mrs. Campbell said. "Planning on taking my daughter away from me again?"

"Uhh." Conner said because he didn't know what to say.

"Arianna please. My son and Bree did not do anything wrong. They were helping me find my daughter." Charlotte said.

"How is Alex by the way?"

"She is great. She's actually going to meet us at the lodge in Vermont." Conner said.

"She is?" Charlotte and Bree said at the same time.

"Yeah I talked to her the other day, and she said that she would meet us there." Conner said.

"That's great!" Charlotte said.

"Ok everyone let's get on the plane!" Mrs Polk yelled to the crowd.

"Hey Bree want to sit next to me? We can watch all our favorite movies." Maddie said walking up to Bree and grabbed her hand.

"Sure Maddie." Bree said. Maddie then dragged Bree over to the front of the crowd.

"Ok I actually want to talk to you about relationships. So how are you and Conner?"

"We're doing good," Bree said.

"Great, now me. I'm now dating the quarterback, Brandon Dayton." Maddie and sighed. "He's perfect. This week is going to be so romantic. I'm guessing it's going be the same for you."

"Well...I guess." Bree said and smiled.

"I'm just trying to imagine it, it's freezing cold, and Brandon and I are snuggling by the fire drinking hot chocolate." Maddie said and smiled.

"I'm glad your happy Maddie." Bree said and smiled.

The entire class got on the plane. Bree and Maddie sat next to each other. Bree's mom, Arianna, and Charlotte sat in-front of them and Conner and his friend Brad were next to them.

They soon landed in Vermont and waiting for them outside of the terminal was Alex and Arthur.

"Alex!" Bree said.

"Bree!" Alex said and ran over and hugged her.

"When did you two become friends?" Conner asked confused.

"Remember when she came to visit two months ago for a week?" Bree said still hugging Alex.

"Yes."  Conner said.

"That's when." Alex said.

"Is that why I didn't see you two that entire week?" Conner asked them.

"Yes." The girls said.

"We became best friends, so I gave her a portable magic mirror." Alex said.

"Look," Bree pulled out a small magic mirror the size of her iPhone out of her backpack. "It looks just like a phone. So when I talk to her, it seems like I'm just FaceTiming someone on my phone."

"I don't know if I like this." Conner said.

"Hey Conner." Arthur said.

"Ok, I definitely don't like this. What is he doing here?" Conner said and pointed to Arthur.

"He wanted to come." Alex said.

"I thought you were looking for the Holy Grail?" Conner asked.

"I found it. Granted it did take me longer than expected, but I would do anything for Alex, and I'm never letting her go." Arthur said and kissed Alex on the lips.

"Ew!" Conner said.

"Come on you Conner. Your dating too." Alex said.

"Hey, you can't mention that. My mom does not know we are dating. So don't say anything." Bree said. "As far as my mom knows we are just friends. That aren't allowed to talk."

"When are you going to tell her?" Arthur asked.

"I don't know, but not now. We are here to have fun! We're going to drink hot chocolate, go tubing, go skiing, and go snowboarding. This is going to be an awesome week." Bree said.

"It is! I've never been skiing." Alex said

"It's easy I'll teach you." Bree said.

"So where's mom?"  Alex asked Conner.

"She's over there with Bree's moms and the other parents talking to Mrs. Polk.  Our english teacher."  Conner said.

"Ok Students of Willow Crest High School please come here so we can split up into our groups."  Mrs. Polk said.

All the students went over to their teacher to listen what she had to say.

"I assigned all of you yesterday to either Mrs. Gordons and Mrs. Campbell's group, or Mr. Dayton, and Mrs. Gales group.  So please go into your groups, and we'll get into the vans and go to the lodge.  Where you will ski and I will relax."  Mrs. Polk said.

Charlotte and Arianna gathered all of the kids in their group including Bree, Conner, Alex and Arthur.

"Alex!  It's so good to see you."  Charlotte said and hugged her daughter.

"Hi mom, it's good to see you too."

"Hi Arthur, it's good to see you too.  Are you two staying for the week?"  Charlotte asked.

"We were planning to, if that's ok."  Alex said.

"Yes of course, you can stay in my room and Arthur can stay with Conner."

"Mom, are you serious."  Conner said.

"Yes, you have two beds in your room and you weren't rooming with anyone.  So it's perfect."

Everyone walked outside and got into their assigned van, and they went to the Lodge.  The ride to the lodge was fine, except for the fact that all the girls were flirting with Arthur.  Which Alex did not like.

"Hey guys!  Arthur's got a girlfriend, so back off."  Bree told them.

"Thank you."  Alex mouthed to Bree.

"Your welcome."  She mouthed back.

All the girls groaned and went back to texting on their phones and one of the girls even said,

"I wonder how the 7th grade nerd got a guy like that.  Makes absolutely no sense."

This made Alex feel awful, but Bree kept reminding her to just block them out.  Alex was glad to have Bree as her friend.  She never really had a friend her age until she met Bree.  All the girls at her school thought she was a nerd, and even though she had a lot of friends in the fairytale world she didn't really have one her age.  Now that she had one, she was really happy.

They soon arrived at the lodge, and they got out of the vans.

"Oh my God!  It's freezing here!"  Conner said.

"I told you last week that you needed a warmer coat."  Bree said.

"Alex...please."  Conner said implying that he wanted her to make him a warmer coat.

"Not right now, I'll make you a coat later."  Alex whispered.

"Ok, guys let's head to our rooms.  We are on the third floor."  Arianna said.

"Hey Alex, do you want to stay with me?  My roommate had to stay home because she got the stomach bug."  Bree said.

"Sure!  I'd love too."  Alex said excitedly.  "Mom, is it ok if I stay with Bree?"

"Sure!  That would be fine."  Charlotte said.

Everyone got their room keys and went up to their rooms.  Bree and Alex went to their room and Conner followed wanting that new coat.

"Wow this rooms amazing!  It's so big."  Alex said.

The room had brown walls and portraits of forests and the mountains.  There was two queen beds with white comforters and a huge flat screen TV and a balcony looking out over the beautiful snowy landscape.

"Alex, can I please have a new coat now."  Conner said while he shivered.  "I'm freezing."

Bree smiled and hugged him tightly.

"How about now?"  Bree said.

"Still freezing, but better."  Conner said and hugged her back.  "Hey I thought we couldn't hug."

"My moms not here, but she will be in a few seconds.  So Alex hurry up."  Bree said and sat on her bed.

Alex waved her hand and Conner had a new black coat.

Conner sighed.  "Thank you.  This is way better."

"You have five seconds before my mom comes in."  Bree warned.

"Right, see you later."  Conner said and ran out of the room.

"Is your mom really coming?"  Alex asked.

"Nope."  Bree said with a smile and closed the door.

"So, you guys seem to doing good."

"Yeah."  Bree said with uncertainty and sat on her bed.

"What's wrong?"  Alex asked and sat next to her.

"We really enjoy each other's company.  He makes me smile, he makes me laugh, he makes me a better person.  A person I never thought I could be...but I don't know."

"But what?"

"We've been dating for 4 months, not once has he said he loves me."  Bree said.  "I know this is weird, I never really talk like this.  You know what forget it, you want to go ski?"

"Wait, not once have you guys said I love you?"

"Yes."  Bree said and groaned and flopped onto the bed.  "This is so confusing.  I mean we've said I like you, before we started dating when all that stuff happened but we haven't said I love you.  They're different right?"

"Of course they're different!"  Alex said.  "I don't want to brag, but everyday Arthur reminds me everyday about how much he loves me.  I'll talk to my brother."

"Oh my God, don't!  Please don't, it'll happen when the time is right."  Bree said and stood in front of Alex.

"Have you guys kissed yet?"  Alex asked.

"Once, and it was spontaneous."  Bree said.  "But don't say anything, we're taking things slowly."

A few rooms over Conner turned on the TV and was now scrolling through the channels.

"What is this strange magic mirror?"  Arthur asked.

"It's called a TV."  Conner said blankly.

"What's a TV?"

"Your looking at one."  Conner said.  "Ugh!  I can't find anything to watch."

"What does it do?"

"It shows movies and TV shows."  Conner said.  "It's entertainment.  No more questions."

"Just one more question."  Arthur said.

"What is it?"

"What's a movie?"

"Ugh!  Ok do you want to go downstairs and get some hot chocolate?"  Conner said and stood up.

"Sure, but one more thing."

"What is it Arthur?"

"I feel like you don't like me and Alex together."

"It's not...it's not that I don't like you and my sister together.  It's just that I'm very protective of my sister.  I've already seen her get hurt and I don't want to see that happen again."  Conner said.

"I can assure you it won't.  I love your sister very much, and will protect her at any cost."

"Ok, I can see that.  You guys are like the perfect couple."

"Speaking of couples...how are you and your girlfriend."

"I really don't feel like talking about this.  How about we just go get some hot chocolate with the girls then go skiing."

"That sounds good to me."  Arthur said.

The boys went over to Alex and Bree's room and they all walked downstairs and got their hot chocolate.

"Oh my goodness.  This is the best thing I have ever drank.  Alex, remind me when we get home to create this marvelous drink and share it with all of Camelot."

"I will."  Alex said.  "Come on guys let's go skiing."

The group of four walked to the ski lift.  Bree and Conner sat next to each other and Alex and Arthur stayed on the ground.

"Alex what are you doing?  Let's go."  Arthur said.

"Wait, I have an idea.  Conner and Bree's relationship needs help.  They haven't said I love you yet, and I know they love each other very much."  Alex said.  "Watch."

Alex waved her hand and the ski lift stopped.

"Oh, smart.  That's why I love you, you help so many people."  Arthur said and kissed her.

"Uh, what happened?"  Conner said.

"It stopped.  Must be broken."  Bree said.  "Who knows how long we'll be here.  Hopefully my mom doesn't come out and see us."

"Ok, I need to say this.  We really need to tell your mom.  I don't like the idea of sneaking around.  I had this idea that this would be a romantic weekend for us.  With school and homework we haven't had a lot of time for us to you know, be a couple."  Conner said.

"I know, I know."  Bree said.

"You know what, whatever.  I love you."

"You said it."  Bree said and smiled at him.  "That was first time you've ever said that to me."

"Well it's true, and I'm going to say it more often."  Conner said.

"Me too."  Bree kissed him on the lips and yelled.  "I LOVE CONNER BAILEY!!!  And I don't care who knows it."

Conner smiled and yelled, "I LOVE BREE CAMPBELL."

The couple laughed and kissed the rest of the time they were on the ski lift.  It was truly the happiest the couple had ever been in their lives.

The ski lift was soon fixed and brought everyone down safely.  When Conner and Bree got off the ski lift, they were holding hands and Bree's mother was standing there waiting for them.

"What are you two doing?"

"Mom I love Conner.  I don't care what you say, he makes me a better person.  He makes me happy.  Plus, Dad knows and he says it's ok for us to dating."

"Your Dad knew this?"  Arianna asked.

"Yes."

"I don't like this, and you know that."

"Mrs. Campbell, I love your daughter and I would do anything for her."

"Is this true?"  Arianna asked.

"Yes Mrs. Campbell."

The couple held onto each other's hands tightly scared of what Arianna was going to say next.

"Conner we'll talk about your intentions after this week is over, but...I remember being young and in love.  So I understand, I guess I'm just very over protective.  You guys can date, and I remember when I took this type of trip when I was your age.  So have fun, but not to much fun."

"Thanks mom."  Bree said and hugged her mother.

"Let's go get dinner you two."  Arianna said and they walked back to the lodge.

The rest of the week was a picture perfect weekend.  Bree and Conner spent every single moment together.  They skied, and sat under the moonlight drinking hot chocolate, and enjoyed each other's company and kissed.  They were definitely the happiest they had ever been in a long time and they were excited to see what their future held.
