Graduation
It was the ending of Bree and Conners senior year and it was time for them to say yes to a university. Both of them were trying to avoid it because it would most likely mean them in a long distance relationship.
Bree was at Conners house and they were watching a movie, but Bree was focused on other things.
"Conner we have to talk about this." Bree said.
"Talk about what?" Conner said eating popcorn.
"You know what." Bree said. "Have you even looked to see if you got in?"
"No, because I know I didn't." Conner said and buried his face in his hands. "Can we please not talk about this, I find all of this just stressful!"
"Ok, ok." Bree said and patted his back. "But that kind of means that we may be separated."
"I don't want that to happen." Conner said and paused the movie. "But I don't want to get in the way of your dreams. You can go to Yale or Harvard and we'll still be together."
"That's sweet, but I always wanted us to go to college together."
"Me too. The only college we both applied too was NYU." Conner said and ate more popcorn.
"Are you sure they haven't sent you anything?" Bree asked.
"Yeah I'm sure." Conner said. "I'm sure that means that I didn't get in."
"Stop saying that." Bree said. "You might have, you never know."
"They haven't sent me anything though. I guess that means I didn't." Conner said. He sighed and played the movie.
"I have to go Conner. My mom just texted me. Could you go get my jacket?" Bree asked.
"Sure I will." Conner got up and went into the kitchen.
Bree quickly went onto Conners computer and went into see if Conner was accepted in NYU. She clicked on his application status and to her surprise, he was! She smiled widely and silently celebrated. She clicked out of the site and closed the computer before he came back into the living room.
"Here you go." Conner said walking back into the living room.
"Thanks, I guess I'll see you at graduation on Saturday." Bree said while putting on her jacket.
"Oh and Alex's Wedding." Conner said.
"Oh yes! I'll meet you here tomorrow, bye." Bree said and kissed Conner. She walked out of the house and drove back to her house.
The next day was the wedding. The wedding was held in the Fairy Kingdom. The ceremony was in the gardens while the reception was in the ballroom. Conner was one of Arthur's best men and Bree, Goldilocks and Red were Alex's bridesmaids.
Alex's wedding dress was a sky blue flowing ball gown with diamonds that sparkled like stars, and she wore her hair in a high updo.
"Alex, Arthur, I now pronounce you husband and wife." Emeralda said. "You may kiss the bride."
Everyone applauded and cheered for Alex and Arthur. Everyone then went into the palace for the reception. For the rest of the night people danced and danced and congratulated Alex and Arthur. For dinner, at the front of the ballroom was a long table for Alex, Arthur and their family and friends. Alex and Arthur sat in the center of the table while Conner sat next to Arthur, and Bree sat next to Alex. During dinner Alex and Arthur raised their glasses and made a toast.
"Thank you to all of you who came, and who have been in our lives forever. So please enjoy the rest of the night, and enjoy the dinner." Alex said and smiled. Bree the stood up from her chair and raised her glass.
"To Alex and Arthur, I hope you two live happily ever after." Bree said.
"To Alex and Arthur." Everyone said and raised their glasses. They then sat back down and started to eat.
"So, are you excited to graduate?" Alex asked Bree.
"Yeah I am." Bree said and took a bite of her chicken.
"When I lived in the Otherworld, all I ever wanted to do was graduate and go to college and get a job and be happy. But life had different plans, at least I'm happy, plus I like this plan way better." Alex said and smiled. "So where are you going to school?"
"I'm thinking New York University. They have everything I want." Bree said.
"I'm guessing Conners going there too. I asked him and he didn't say anything."
"He doesn't know."
"Know what?"
"Know that he got in and if he even wants to go." Bree said. "I think he thinks that he's not smart enough or something. He's not confident. I think he's scared we're going to be separated."
"Wait he doesn't know he got in New York University? Why doesn't he think he's not smart enough?"
"We applied to Yale and Harvard and I got in, but he didn't."
"Poor Conner. He worked so hard." Alex said. "But congratulations Bree! I always wanted to go to one of those two."
"Thanks. I guess after those rejections he lost his confidence." Bree said.
"So, he did get into NYU though, right?"
"Yup." Bree said and took a bite of food.
"That's great! You both can go there."
"That's my plan, but he doesn't know."
"Why doesn't he know? How do you know?" Alex asked and took a sip of her drink.
"I peeked at his computer. He hadn't opened the letter yet. I guess he was scared of being rejected." Bree said. "I want to do something to tell him he got in. I just can't think of what."
"I have an idea, but it's a little extreme. I was going to give Conner this idea, but maybe you should do it."
"What is it?" Bree asked.
Alex whispered something into Bree's ear and she almost fell out of her chair in shock.
"Are you serious?" Bree asked and laughed a little bit.
"Your going to do it anyways, might as well do it now. It would really make him feel better." Alex said. "Plus, it would be so romantic."
"When you put it that way...how can I say no?"
The next day was graduation day. Conner and Bree met up at the school along with the rest of their friends. They were in their caps and gowns for the ceremony. Before the ceremony, their parents were taking pictures of all of them and Conner and Bree separately. Alex and Arthur were there as well to see the ceremony.
All the students including Conner and Bree all went up, one at a time, to get their diplomas and went and sat in their seats with their friends, and their principal Dr. Mitchell, went onto the stage and started his speech.
"Welcome students, faculty and family. I am so excited to see this years seniors graduate." Dr. Mitchell started and everyone applauded.
"Hey Conner," Bree whispered to Conner.
"What is it?" He whispered back.
"I wanted to talk to you about NYU."
"Can we talk about this after?"
"No I want to do this now." Bree said. "I looked at your computer and I looked to see if you got into NYU."
"You looked at my computer?" Conner said not sure whether to be mad or curious.
"Yes and I'm sorry, but I needed to know...Conner, you got in." Bree said quietly and smiled.
"Really...so that means,"
"We're going to school together, I'm so proud of you." Bree said and quickly kissed Conner on the cheek.
"We'll celebrate after this." Conner whispered and smiled and focused his attention back onto their principals speech.
"There's one more thing." Bree said.
"Now students, move your tassels to the left." Dr. Mitchell said. "And stand, as you have graduated high school! Congratulations to the class of 2019!"
They moved their tassels from right to left and as they started to stand, Bree grabbed Conners hand to stop him from standing.
"Will you marry me?" Bree said and looked up at him. Conner was so shocked he sat back down.
"What did you say?" Conner said in shock.
"Will you marry me?"
"Aren't I supposed to ask you that?" Conner asked and let out a little laugh.
"I wanted to change it up. I think it's right though. I want to spend the rest of my life with you." Bree said and smiled and blushed a little. "So?"
"Of course I will Bree. Yes!" Conner said and Bree kissed him passionately. Their journey was just beginning.
