Day 1 of a New Chapter

After 2 days in the hospital, Bree, Conner and their new baby girl, Elizabeth, were able to go home. Bree was sitting her bed at the hospital putting little Elizabeth in the outfit Conner and Alex had gotten at the store a few days ago. It was a long sleeve red onesie that said, I am Mommy and Daddy's Christmas present. While Bree was putting on the outfit, Conner was in the corner packing all of their stuff in their suitcase.

"Ok, I think we're ready to go," Conner said.

"Conner is there a little red hat with a bow in the front pocket of my backpack?" Bree asked. "I can't find it anywhere."

"Let me look," Conner said and looked throughout Bree's backpack. He soon found a little red hat and gave it to her. Bree put the hat on her sleeping baby and cradled her in her arms.

"You are such a good sleeper! Yes, you are." Bree said to her sleeping baby.

"Hopefully she stays like that and then we'll get some sleep," Conner said. A nurse then came in with a wheelchair and helped Bree and the baby in it. Conner grabbed all the bags and they all walked to the front door. Parked in the front were Arianna and Charlotte. They both got out of the car and helped with the bags. Bree got out of the wheelchair and the nurse helped her get Elizabeth into her car seat. Bree and Conner got into the back seat and Charlotte got into the passenger seat and Arianna drove them all home.

"Is she still sleeping?" Charlotte asked.

"Yeah, she's been sleeping for most of the morning," Bree said. "She only cried this morning when she was hungry."

"That's so good. I remember when I brought Alex and Conner home they both screamed their heads off all the way home and throughout the night." Charlotte said.

"Bree and Ella were the same way," Arianna said laughing at the memory.

"Ok, let's not jinx it guys," Conner said. The rest of the ride home went very smoothly until they got back to the Campbells house and Arianna parked the car in the driveway. That's when Elizabeth went ballistic.

"Oh no," Bree said. "I think she's just hungry. Let's get in the house quick."

Conner ran over to the other side and unlatched the car seat and carefully brought her into the house and the girls followed. Inside Bree's dad, Bob and all of Bree's sisters, Ella, Amanda, and Janie were there including Amanda's husband and kids were there waiting for them.

"Welcome home," Ella said getting up from the couch.

"Thanks, guys," Bree said. Conner put the car seat down and took his daughter out of it and cradled her in his arms.

"Shh it's ok, it's ok," Conner said to her, but she continued to cry.

"Yeah, she's probably just hungry," Charlotte said.

"Yeah, I'll take her upstairs and feed her. We'll come back downstairs when she's done." Bree said and then her eyes fell on the Christmas tree and noticed that all the presents were still there. "Mom Christmas was two days ago. Why are all the presents still there?"

"We wanted to wait for you three," Janie said.

"Awe thanks, guys!" Conner said.

"Thanks for doing that. Ok, we'll be right back." Bree said and the couple rushed upstairs.

A few minutes later Conner and Bree came downstairs after feeding Elizabeth. Elizabeth was now wide awake and looked around at all the bright decorations. Everyone was in the living room around the tree watching Elf, and in the kitchen, a huge spread was laid out for them. All the foods were the foods that were supposed to be made on Christmas but were actually made the night before, along with a lot of desserts.

"I love this movie," Conner said. "Plus I'm starving, hospital food sucks! Thanks for making all of this food guys."

"Bree, can I hold her?" Ella said walking up to her. Bree nodded and handed her to Ella. Ella walked back into the living room and sat on the couch, while Conner and Bree got plates and filled them with food and walked to the living room and sat down on the couch.

"Ok let's open gifts," Bree said and took a bite of her food. "Mom, can you hand the blue one in the front to Conner?"

Arianna picked up the blue wrapped box and handed it to Conner. Conner set down his food and began to open it.

"No way. Bree, you didn't." Conner said and unwrapped a brand new computer. "A new laptop?!"

"Yeah, the one you have is so old. You needed it. It's a lot faster and bigger than your old one." Bree said.

"Thank you!" Conner said and kissed her on the cheek. "Your turn." Conner got up and got a small purple wrapped present and handed it to Bree.

"Ok so I got this a month ago and this was supposed to be for tonight because I didn't expect the baby to be born two days ago."

Bree opened the box and found two tickets for her favorite band inside.

"Oh no!" Bree said and laughed. "Are you kidding?"

"Nope. We don't have to go if you aren't up for it." Conner said.

"Are you kidding go!" Arianna said. "We'll watch the baby."

"Mom no, she's only two days old. Are you sure?" Bree said.

"Yes, I insist! Go and have a good time." Arianna said. Ella then handed Elizabeth off the Arianna. Elizabeth was so mesmerized by the tree she couldn't stop looking at it.

"Yes!!" Bree said with a huge smile on her face. "I'm so excited, I haven't seen them in concert for years! Thank you, Conner!"

Bree hugged her husband tightly and kissed him.

"Your welcome, I also made dinner reservations for before," Conner said.

"Awesome! This is the best, thank you." Bree said. "How about Elizabeth now?"

Charlotte got the present that Red had given her and handed it to Bree. Bree opened the red wrapped box with the white bow and inside was a red headband with a huge red bow on it and a soft red and white dress with puff sleeves. There was also a little frog stuffed animal and little red and white baby slippers.

"Awe how cute!" Bree said and laughed.

"Who gave you that? I love that dress!" Arianna said.

"A great friend of ours from Vermont where my sister lives," Conner said. "I expected we would get clothes from her."

"Me too," Bree said. "We're going to have to take a picture of her in it and have Alex give it to her. Mom can I have Elizabeth, I'll put the bow on her."

Arianna handed the baby back to Bree and Bree put the bow on Elizabeth's tiny head.

"Awe!" Everyone said.

"Oh, Bree I got something for you too," Ella said. She walked over to the tree and got a package with white wrapping and handed it to Bree. Conner too Elizabeth so what Bree could open the package. Inside was a purple sweatshirt that had the writings Don't mess with me, I'm not a regular mom, I'm a cool mom.

"I love this!" Bree said and laughed and put the hoodie on. "This is the best thing ever! Thank you, Ella."

The rest of the day went off without a hitch. The family watched Christmas movies and ate a lot of food and desserts. Bree and Conner went upstairs while Elizabeth napped and got dressed for their night out. Conner got dressed in a pair of jeans, black shoes, and a button-down blue shirt. Bree felt the best had felt in a long time so she wore a pair of jeans, and a long sleeve gold bell sleeve shirt and a pair of high heel boots. She curled her hair and put half of her hair up. She walked out of the bathroom and into her bedroom to find Conner lying of the bed next to Elizabeth.

"Hello, my princess. Aren't you the cutest little thing?" Conner said and kissed her forehead. Elizabeth smiled and reached for her daddy's face.

"Awe," Bree said as she looked at them. "Let's go, Conner. We don't want to be late."

"One more minute with this precious little thing," Conner said and cuddled Elizabeth. Bree smiled and sat on the other side of the bed.

"We'll be back before you know it," Bree said and caressed her daughter's head. "It's not like we're leaving for a week."

"I know," Conner said. He sat up and picked up his daughter and they walked downstairs and handed her off to Arianna who was in the living room.

"Don't worry she'll be fine," Arianna said and cradled her granddaughter.

"I have no doubt. Bye guys." Bree said and kissed her daughter's forehead. "Bye baby."

Conner kissed his daughter's forehead and took Bree's hand and they walked to the door and got their coats. Right as they walked out the door they heard Elizabeth's tiny cry. Conner and Bree felt so guilty, but they kept going as they knew that Bree's parents would kick them out anyway because they knew that the new parents needed some alone time.

Conner and Bree drove into the city and parked in front of a really fancy restaurant called Amor. Conner gave his keys to the Valet and the couple walked inside.

"Welcome to Amor. Do you have a reservation?"

"Yes, the name is Bailey."

"Oh yes. Right this way." The waiter said and led them to a booth. Conner and Bree sat and the waiter handed them their menus. "Can I get you anything to drink?"

"Just water for me," Conner said.

"Red wine," Bree said.

Conner smiled at his wife and let out a small laugh.

"I guess I'll take one as well." He said.

the waiter nodded and left to get their drinks.

"I'm eating and drinking everything I couldn't consume while I was pregnant," Bree said with a laugh of her own.

"No, I get it," Conner said and looked at everything on the menu.

"I can't believe you got reservations for this place. It's one of the fanciest and best restaurants in California." Bree said.

"Anything for you," Conner said and smiled at her. "You went through so much for nine months, and we ended up with the cutest and most precious bundle of joy.  You deserve it."

"Well thank you very much, and thank you for not getting me jewelry," Bree said. "Because knowing me, I'd probably lose it and never wear it. The only piece of jewelry I wear is my wedding ring."

Conners face then went bright red as he pulled out a red velvet box.

"I kind of did." Conner said and smiled.

"Oh Conner," Bree said and let out a small laugh, actually grateful he did buy jewelry. She took the box from him and opened it. Her eyes immediately started to water. Inside was a thin gold necklace with a gold cursive E hanging from it.

"It's a charm necklace. The E is for Elizabeth. When we have more you can add another letter." Conner said.

"Oh, I love it!" Bree said and took it out of the box. Conner rushed over to her side of the booth and put it around her neck. "Now this I will never take off. Just like my wedding ring."

Bree kissed her husband and held him tightly.

"I'm glad you like it." Conner said.

"Can you believe how far we've come?" Bree said. "We certainly have come a long way from being those two crazy kids in high school."

"Yeah we certainly have come a long way from being those two crazy kids who saved the world."' Conner said.

"Now look. We have great careers, each other, and now a cute baby." Bree said. "I couldn't have asked or wished for anything more. I have everything I have ever dreamed of."

"Me too. Thank you for sticking by me back then even though you knew how dangerous my life was."

"Are you kidding me? I wasn't going to let you go, you gave me the adventure of a lifetime."

"We did have some crazy adventures," Conner said and smiled at the memories. "Also for sticking with me now and helping me write my books."

"Your welcome, and thank you for helping me with mine."

"Finally, thank you for giving me the best Christmas present I could ever receive," Conner said.

"Thank you for giving her to me," Bree said and kissed her husband on the cheek. The waiter came back and Conner went back to his side of the booth. The waiter gave Bree her wine and Conner his.

"To more amazing memories?" Conner said and held up his glass.

"To more amazing memories, as a family," Bree said and held up her glass. They clinked their glasses together and drank. The rest of the night went exactly as planned. The couple ate great food and left for the concert. Halfway through the concert, Bree looked at her phone. The picture on her phone's lock screen was of Elizabeth.

"Conner, thank you so much for this night. It's truly one of the best nights I've had in months, but...I miss her." Bree said.

"You do too? I would have said something but I didn't want to ruin your night." Conner said.

"Yeah, I do. Do you want to get out of here? We've seen enough of the concert already." Bree said.

"Of course." Conner took Bree's hand into his and they ran out of the building and back to their car. They drove back to the house and ran to open the front door. Inside was Bree's mom cleaning all the dishes.

"Hey, you guys are back early. How was the concert?" She asked.

"It was great, but we left halfway through. We just missed the baby." Bree said. "Is she asleep?"

"She just went down just a couple of minutes ago," Arianna said and held up the baby monitor. "Poor thing didn't want to sleep and wanted no one to hold her. I guess she just wanted you guys."

Just then they heard the baby cry over the monitor. Bree and Conner rushed upstairs and into the bedroom to find their crying baby in her little bassinet. Conner and Bree looked over at her and she began to cry softer. Bree picked her up and Elizabeth grabbed her shirt tightly and stopped crying.

"Is that all you wanted?" Bree asked her daughter as she sat on the bed.  Conner sat next to Bree and kissed his daughter's head.  "This is the best."
