The Terrible Loss

It was a dark rainy day in the Fairytale world.  Everyone had gathered in the Fairy Kingdom for the funeral of Mother Goose.

Alex and Conner were there, along with Alex's family and their friends.  Alex was wearing a simple but elegant black dress, even Alex's newborn baby girl Alia was wearing a black dress.  Arthur and Conner were wearing black suits, as well as Jack and Froggy.  Red and Goldilocks were wearing black dresses as well.  Ally, Hero, and Ruby were there as well.  They stood right besides their parents as The Fairy Council gave their speech.

"We have gathered here today to honor this brave and sometimes kind women.  We have known Mother Goose her whole life, and I can say that I was truly honored to call Mother Goose my friend, and my family."  Emeralda said.  "Now here are a few words from Alex and Conner Bailey."

Conner walked up to the podium, and Alex gave Alia to Arthur and she followed Connor to the podium.

"Mother Goose was a huge part of our lives.  Mother Goose was a great friend, and a person that you could tell anything too.  I will always remember her kindness, her laughter and all the stories she told."  Conner said.

"It's sad we've had to say goodbye to another person we've loved so much."  Alex said

"And we will always be thankful for all these people, and she will be deeply missed."  Conner said.  "Thank you."

All the guests clapped, and the Fairy Council took their place at the podium, and Alex and Conner went back to their original spots.

"We just want to thank you all for coming today.  How about we all go inside the castle and get out of this rain, and celebrate the lives this great hero had?"  Coral said.

Everyone went inside.  Inside they ate food, and talked to one another.  Everyone came up to the Fairy Council and the twins to say how sorry they were.

"That was a great speech mom."  Ally said.

"Thank you sweetie."  Alex said.

"I'm so sorry darling."  Arthur said and kissed Alex.

"It's ok.  At least we have each other."  Alex said and looked down at the little sleeping baby in her arms.

"Alex can I talk to you."  Conner asked her.

"Sure.  Here Arthur."  Alex said and handed Alia over to him.  Conner took Alex upstairs to Alex's old room, where the magic mirror was held.  They walked inside the room and Conner closed the door behind them.

"What is it Conner?"  Alex asked.

"I was wondering if you found the spell that could bring back the magic mirror."  Conner said.

"No I haven't."  Alex said.

"I don't think you've been trying."  Conner said and put his hands on his hips.

"Conner I've been really busy lately.  With the baby, helping Arthur rule Camelot, being the Fairy Godmother.  Conner, I am exhausted, so I would appreciate it if you would show me some restraint and give me a break."  Alex snapped.

"I'm sorry."  Conner said in a soft voice.  He knew how tired his sister was.  She had more responsibilities than he did.  He knew he was being selfish.

"Listen I know, you miss Sophie and Bree.  But I have faith that they will come back some day, and you will see them again."  Alex said.

"How can you be so sure?"  Conner said.

"I just know."  Alex said.

"Do you know what makes this day even more heart breaking?"  Conner said and walked over to the shards of glass that were still on the floor.

"What?"  Alex asked.

"Today was Sophie's birthday.  She will be turning 15 and I am not there."  Conner said and looked out the window.

"Oh Connor.  I'm sorry."  Alex said.

"And to top it all off, when Bree left here she was pregnant.  Now that little boy or girl is living without their father.  Do you know how I feel not knowing my child?"  Conner said.  He then completely lost it and fell on the floor crying.

Alex felt so bad for him.  He had been though a lot these past few years.  Right after the mirror broke, he tried using the portal in the south tower.  But for some unknown reason it wouldn't open.  Something was preventing portals to open. Conner had driven himself mad trying to open another portal, but everything he tried didn't work.

"Conner, it's going to be all right."  Alex said and sat down next to him.  "We'll find a way."

"No we won't.  Every way I've turned to leads to a dead end.  It's like the universe doesn't want me to find them."  Conner said.

"That's not true.  You will find them, and if I know you.  You will always find what your looking for."  Alex said.

"Alex can I tell you something?"  Conner said and looked at her.

"Sure, anything."  Alex said.

"I'm the reason Mother Goose is dead."  Conner said.

"What?"  Alex said surprised.  "How?"

"It was last week, Emerelda had gotten word of a man that has been kidnapping women and children and then setting them free after a few days."  Conner said.  "She told me, and told me not to tell you because she didn't want to worry you, since a few days before, you had Alia and you were really busy with all your responsibilities.  So anyways, I wanted to go check it out, I thought it would clear my mind.  A woman told me that he took refuge in the Dwarf Forests.  I went and I found him.  Alex...he was wearing the same armor that Ivy's soldiers were wearing."

"How is that possible?  Ivy and her soldiers were killed."  Alex said.

"I don't know how.  But I found him and we fought.  He then began to fire arrows, and that's where it went wrong.  I didn't know that Mother Goose had followed me.  She was hit by the arrows and I couldn't save her."  Connor said.  "That's how she died.  It's my fault.  If I hadn't gone out, she wouldn't have followed me."

"Conner it's not your fault."  Alex said.  "That man killed her.  Do you have any idea why he has been kidnapping these people and then setting them free?"

"No I don't."  Conner said.  "He must be looking for someone.  But who?"

Deep in the Dwarf Forest, a man roamed around his camp grounds.  He wore black armor with purple stripes on it.  He had black hair and brown eyes.  He paced back and forth, until he heard a rustling in the bushes.  He suddenly stopped and faced the bushes.  He then spotted a small stout man with brown hair and blue eyes.  He holding a small child wearing a brown ripped dress.  Her mouth was covered by a cloth and her hands were tied by rope.

"What took you so long?"  The man said.

"I'm sorry sir."  The stout man said.  "It took a while to capture her.  So is this the girl that you were looking for?"

The man in the armor walked up to the girl and examined her.  He then frowned.

"No it isn't.  You will take her back later."  The man said.  "Put her in the tent for now."  The small stout man put the girl in their tent, and walked back out.  The man in armor sat on a log and put his hands on his face.

"Killian, you will find the girl you are looking for."  The stout man said and sat next to him.

"Reggy, we have searched every kingdom and haven't found her yet.  How is that possible?"  Killian asked.

"I have heard of another world.  The fairies call it the Otherworld.  Maybe the girl you search for is there."  Reggy asked.

"And you mention this now?"  Killian said and looked at Reggy.  "Actually, I know of a portal at the edge of these woods.  My mother Ivy told me about it. I just didn't know where it led, but now I do."

"So are we going there?"  Reggy asked.

"Yes of course.  There we will hopefully find the girl my mother used to bring her darkness over this world."  Killian said.

"Sir, what's her name?"  Reggy asked.

"Sophie Bailey."  Killian said.
