The Strength of Magic
After Sophie told her parents the entire story, Bree and Conner sat on the couch with blank faces.
"That's what she needed her for." Conner said.
"Sophie, do you know where she went?" Bree asked.
"No. After I yelled at her, I left her by the stables." Sophie said.
"Sophie! How could you yell at her?!" Bree said. "Even though she did something evil, doesn't mean their heart is evil. We have to find her. Conner, what if she went back to the witches cottage?"
"But Bree, we don't know where it is." Conner said.
"She couldn't have gotten far. If we go now, we can still catch her." Sophie said.
"Let's go." Hero said.
"Mom, Dad. Can we just do this on our own. It's my fault." Sophie said.
"Sophie no, your not going out there by yourself." Conner said.
"When Alex was cursed all those years ago, were you by yourself?" Sophie said.
"No, I had my friends."
"Exactly. I have mine, and it's our turn to save the day. Just like you did when you were my age." Sophie said.
"But that's not what I wanted for you. I missed out on so much as a kid, because I was always off saving the world. I never really got to be a normal kid."
"But you weren't anyways Conner. You are the grandson of the Fairy Godmother. You were never normal, and you were kind of destined to never have a normal life." Bree said. "Your destiny was to save the Fairytale and the Otherworld. You saved New York, and you've saved the Fairytale World many times. It's time to pass on your legacy."
Conner thought about all those times. He was always involved with the Fairytale world, even when he was living the Otherworld. He was never normal, who could say they had saved New York, defeated an Evil Queen, an Evil Enchantress, a 200 year old army, a literacy army, and traveled into some of the best stories in history, and even some of his own short stories.
"Bree, your right. Great, now I know how my mom felt all those years." Conner said and smiled. "You guys are the next generation of heroes. So go be great, and stay safe."
Sophie smiled and hugged her father. Conner hugged Sophie tightly and kissed her forehead. Conner then gestured for Cody to come into the hug. He hugged his children tightly.
"Can I go with them?" Cody asked.
"No!" Bree and Conner said in unison.
"Awe." Cody said and frowned.
"Cody, I guarantee that you will have your own adventures when your older." Conner said and hugged his son.
"Go, and don't be back too late." Bree said and smiled.
The group ran outside and mounted their horses.
"Back on another adventure. But this time we're going to succeed." Ally said. They then road off to the Dwarf Forests.
...................
Scarlet road her horse all the way to the Corner kingdom, where she saw Prince Daniel helping out a villager. He then spotted Scarlet and ran over to her.
"Hey I haven't seen you in a while!" Daniel said.
"Yeah, um I have to go. I'm sorry, I wish I could talk."
"Wait, I heard you were reunited with your real family! So how is it going?"
"Not good. My sister found out something I had done a long time ago, and I don't know if she'll ever forgive me." Scarlet said and wiped away a few tears.
"Oh I'm sorry. What did you do?" Daniel said.
"I'm sorry, but I don't want to tell you, or else you might hate me." Scarlet said. "I'm sorry, I have to go."
Before Daniel could speak, Scarlet was already riding into the forest. Once she got into the forest, a force field magically appeared, shaking the entire forest. Beauty, Scarlets horse was so startled, she bucked her off and ran deeper into the Dwarf Forest. Scarlet got up and brushed herself off. She ran to the edge of the forest and tried to get out, but the force field pushed her back. Daniel ran over to Scarlet, but just like she was he was pushed back.
"Scarlet!!" He yelled. She ran over to where the force field started and tried using her magic on it but it only made it stronger.
"I'm trapped! Go get my sister." Scarlet yelled.
"Scarlet!" Sophie said as she and her friends rode in. They dismounted and touched the force field sending them flying like before.
"What happened?" Hero said.
"Only evil can live in this forest." Holly said coming out from behind a tree. "Which includes your sister."
"No, Scarlet your not evil. I'm sorry I snapped at you. It wasn't your fault, you were forced to release Ivy." Sophie said and looked at Holly.
"Guilty. But now there's nothing you can do. Because I've been working on something very powerful. Something that will change all of your lives forever." Holly said.
"Whatever it is you'll never get away with it." Ally said.
"Oh but I already have." Holly said. "Do you see this forcefield. This force field will soon spread to this entire world, and we will be sent to a world where nothing will ever be the same, and villains will rule."
"Why are you doing this? What will you get out of all this." Ruby said
"Power and my freedom. Long ago the Fairy Council trapped me in this forest, in my big house, with no one. I was all alone. No one to call a friend. All I had was this cursed book they gave me, so I could look to the outside world. I needed something, something to get back at them, to show them I wasn't done with them yet." Holly explained. "Soon after I started to plan, someone came knocking on my door. A man, asking me to free his mother from her forgotten dark kingdom, and that's when word of your parents pregnancy spread throughout the world. I knew who your father was, and I knew one of his children would be the key to releasing this mans evil mother."
"Why didn't you take me? I'm the daughter of the Fairy Godmother." Ally stated.
"I thought of that, but you were too hard. There's only so much I can do from my house. Traveling into a book, isn't one of them." Holly said.
"So you took Scarlet to release Ivy, but is there another reason?" Hero asked.
"Did you take her because, you were lonely?" Ruby asked.
"Yes. You would be lonely too, if you spent years and years alone, with nothing but berries, bushes, and a library of magic spell books that you can't use, because you were stripped of your magic at a young age." Holly said. "I now want my revenge on them. They ruined my life, now I will ruin everyone else's."
"You won't, because we'll stop you." Ally said.
"You think you can be your parents. Well you can't, no one will ever live up to them. Not even their own children, plus how are you going to get past my force field?" Holly asked. "No one will be able to break this. The only way to break it, is by killing me."
Every voice in Scarlet head said "go ahead, do it, nows your chance!" But her heart said a completely different story. After hearing Holly's reason for taking her, she was heartbroken. The reason, she did what she did, was because she actually loved her, and didn't want her to leave.
"Did you actually love me?" Scarlet asked.
Holly smiled at Scarlet. "Yes, Scarlet. Yes, I took you from your real parents, and it was wrong. But, it was probably the best thing I've ever done. Because, I was so lonely, and when you came into my life. I wasn't lonely, I was happy. For the first time in my life."
Scarlet was touched and hugged Holly tightly. Sophie didn't like what she was seeing, she was about to strike when Ally held her back.
"Wait you said you were trapped in the house. How did you take me that night?" Scarlet asked.
"Every few years I'm granted access to roam freely around the world, but for only a short period of time. But I was only allowed to stay in the Dwarf Forests, if I tried to leave, the Fairy Council would know and do something far worse than just stick me in a huge house by myself." Holly said. "I knew your parents plan to hide you from me. Your father was taking you to the Otherworld. Luckily I had some of the Fairy Godmothers magic stored in a bottle. Don't ask me how I got it, but I used that to travel there and grab you."
"Listen, I'm sorry you were lonely all those years, but you are giving me back my sister!!" Sophie then shot a huge ball of magic at the force field. Ally then helped her out. The girls hit the force field so hard it shook, making it crack in half, officially breaking, and breaking Holly's curse.
"You did it!" Hero said.
Sophie then ran up to Scarlet and gave her the biggest hug ever.
"I'm so sorry I snapped at you. Please come home." Sophie said.
"I will, I'm sorry, I should have told you from the beginning." Scarlet said as they split. Scarlet turned around and looked at Holly.
"I just want to thank you for raising me. But, if you don't mind, I would like to go with my family now." Scarlet said. Holly started to tear up, and she actually smiled. She hadn't smiled in years, it felt weird to her.
"Um, yes of course Scarlet. Promise to visit me?" Holly said. Scarlet nodded and smiled.
Holly then walked back to her cottage, slowly and quietly. A few minutes later, she was almost to her house. Then suddenly, she heard a crying noise. It was coming from an old cottage in the distance. Holly recognized the cottage. It used to belong to the witch Morina. Holly ran inside, and the crying sounded louder. She swung open the basement door, the crying was very clear now. She ran downstairs and saw a baby wrapped in only a little blanket on the floor, surrounded by potion bottles. Holly quickly picked the baby up, and she smiled.
"Are you all alone little one? Well don't worry, I'll be your mommy." Holly said. She picked up a potion bottle off the floor to examine it. Youth Potion, it read.
"Youth potion! She must have drank to many and got turned got into a baby. Well don't worry I'll take care of you." Holly said. "I just wonder, who were you before you drank all those potions?"
.............................
That night at the Fairy Palace, Alex threw a ball to celebrate Scarlets return. All the royals, Fairy Council, and their friends and family were there.
"I remember when you were just a baby, Scarlet. I'm so glad they found you." Charlotte said as she squeezed Scarlet tightly.
"I'm glad too, living with a witch wasn't always easy." Scarlet said.
"So Bree, Conner tells us your moving back to the Otherworld?" Bob said.
"Yes, well we plan to at the beginning of summer, so the kids could get settled then start school." Bree said.
"Well, you are welcome to stay with us, until you get on your feet." Charlotte said.
"Thank you so much Mom. We're excited to be moving back." Conner said.
Sophie didn't like the conversation so she walked over to the food tables. There she saw a familiar face.
"Blake?" She said. Blake (her now stable hand) looked up from setting out food at Sophie.
"Oh, hello Ms. Sophie." Blake said. "Are you liking the party?"
"Yes, it's a really nice that my aunt arranged all of this just for my sister." Sophie said. "So, are you enjoying it?"
"Well, I'm not part of the party, I'm working the party." Blake said and picked up his empty tray.
"Oh, well why?"
"My dad, just lost his job and now I have to get jobs to help pay for food." Blake said. Sophie felt bad for Blake, she then got an idea. She took the tray out of his hands and set it underneath the table.
"Come on." Sophie said and put out her hand.
"What are you doing?" Blake asked.
"Do you want to dance?" Sophie asked.
"Oh no ma'am. I'm working, and I don't dance." Blake said and went to reach for the tray, but Sophie grabbed him and brought him to the middle of the room.
"Come on, you probably won't get another chance to." Sophie said. "And trust me, I'm not a good dancer either."
"I'm sure your a beautiful dancer." Blake said. Sophie smiled and blushed, which made Blake smile. Sophie and Blake then started to dance.
"There you go, you got it!" Sophie said.
"Am I actually dancing at a royal ball, or am I dreaming?" Blake said.
"Your not dreaming." Sophie said and laughed.
On the other side of the room, Scarlet watched as her sister and Blake danced. She smiled, and walked outside and sat on the steps and gazed up at the beautiful night sky.
"Hey, what are you doing out here?" A voice said from behind her. Scarlet turned around and saw Daniel.
"Oh, hi Daniel." Scarlet said. "Why aren't you inside?"
"The real question is, why aren't you?" Daniel said and sat beside her.
"I don't know, I've never been the center of attention before, and I've never been to a ball. It just feels weird to me." Scarlet said.
"Because it's new to you. Come on, want to dance with me?" Daniel asked and offered her his hand. Scarlet smiled and held his hand, they stood up and walked back inside together.
Ally, Hero and Ruby stood on the sidelines watching all the couples dance.
"So Ally where's your boyfriend?" Ruby asked.
"He's not really my boyfriend by choice, he's my betrothed." Ally said. "And he's back in Camelot."
"Ugh, I hate those. I've heard they never end well." Ruby said. "My mom once tried to set me up with Rapunzel's older son. I could tell from the start it wasn't going to work out."
"Was he your betrothed?" Ally asked.
"Yeah, but my father didn't like the idea so he ended it, and Thank God!" Ruby said.
"So Ruby, would you like to maybe, give us a try?" Hero asked
"Hero are you asking me to be your girlfriend?" Ruby asked. "Because if you are, then yes!"
"Really!" Hero said. "So would you like to dance?"
Ruby took his hand and they went to dance leaving Ally alone.
"Oh it's ok, I'll just stay here alone. By myself. With no one to talk to." Ally said.
"Hey!" Lance said sneaking up behind her. Ally got so frightened she jumped.
"Oh my gosh! You scared me!" Ally said.
"I'm sorry, I just wanted to surprise you." Lance said.
"Well don't do that again."
"Sorry, I won't. Wow, this is a great party."
"Thanks, my mom arranged it for my cousin." Ally said.
"Oh yeah and I have some news from Camelot, that I was supposed to tell your mother, but I found you first." Lance said.
"What is it?"
"A huge rain storm has formed in Camelot, all the farms are now back up and running!" Lance said.
"What?! Our kingdom is saved!" Ally said. "I've got to go tell my parents."
"But that also means, that our kingdoms don't have to merge."
"Oh, so that means, that we aren't betrothed anymore." Ally said. "Unless, you want to maybe start..."
"Dating?" Lance said finishing her sentence.
"Yeah. I mean, I've had a lot of fun with you these past few days, and I don't really want it to end." Ally said.
"I don't either. You are the best person I've ever met, and I don't want our fun to end." Lance said and kissed Ally. They separated and smiled at each other.
"Well, let's go tell my parents the good news." Ally said.
At the top of grand staircase, Alex, Conner, Bree, Arthur, Goldilocks, Jack, Froggy and Red stood watching the party.
"Thank you so much Alex. This is amazing." Bree said.
"Oh, no problem. This party is actually for all of you. It's not only a welcome party for Scarlet, it's a going away party." Alex said.
"Yeah we're going to miss you guys." Conner said. "But I think the Otherworld is where we're meant to be. I'm also thinking of writing a book series of all of our adventures."
"Conner I think that's awesome! Thats a great way of sharing these amazing stories with kids." Alex said.
"We have come such a long way from, fighting evil queens, and enchantresses." Goldilocks said.
"And a literacy army, and a 200 year old army." Jack said.
"I still can't believe we did that." Red said.
"We couldn't believe you would actually help us." Jack said,
"I didn't want you guys having fun without me." Red said. "Plus, I wanted Charlie out of that mirror during that time."
"But I got out. Thanks to Medusa." Froggy said.
"But I'm very proud of our children, they have built a powerful wand, they saved Sophie and Cody, and they defeated that witch, and found Scarlet." Arthur said.
"Yes, I think we did a great job as parents, and as heroes. Conner, I want to show you something." Alex pulled Conner down the hall into their Grandmothers old room. Alex showed Conner an old portrait of their late father and grandmother.
"Alex, where did you find that?"
"I found this in a room filled with old pictures. Conner, what do you think Grandma and Dad would say if they saw us now?" Alex asked.
"I think they would be really proud of us. Well, proud of you."
"What? No, you too."
"Well, Alex, you are a Fairy Godmother, and a Queen. You do way more than I do."
"Yeah, but you have raised the best children. You are the best father." Alex said.
"Well, I've lost one of my children, but I have found her. So I can't say I'm the best. Dad was definitely the best." Conner said. "They would be proud of both of us, and don't worry I'll visit often."
"You better, and never forget this world."
"How can I? My best memories are here."
Conner hugged Alex and they walked to the grand balcony, and looked at the amazing view. Even though they were going to be apart, this world would always bring them together.
Thank you for reading this story. This is unfortunately the last chapter of this story. I had so much fun writing this fan fiction. This one is definitely my favorite fan fiction I've written so far. I'm currently writing a story about Conners grandchild Charlie. It's a continuation to the epilogue of Tlos Worlds Collide. I'm also writing a Bree and Conner love story, and 2 original stories are coming soon. Thank you again for reading this!
