"SURPRISE!"
Bree was in the kitchen putting candles on Sophie's birthday cake, Cody was in the living room playing a video game, and Roxanne was putting up a banner that said HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
"I love what your doing for Sophie. Not all parents do something like this." Roxanne said and stepped down from the ladder.
"Yeah. Next year for Maya and Sophie's 16th birthday, they should choose where they want to have it, and what they want." Bree said.
"I can live with the that." Roxanne said and walked up next to Bree. "Just as long as it's within the budget." Bree and Roxanne laughed, agreeing with each other.
"Everyone should be here soon." Bree said. She walked into the living room and saw that Cody wasn't there.
"Cody!" She yelled.
"Up here mom." Cody yelled from upstairs. "I'm in your room."
Bree walked up stairs and found Cody in her room, staring at the only photo Bree had of Connor. She had it in her pocket the day they left. It was a picture of Bree holding baby Sophie and Connor in front of their house in the Fairytale world.
"Mom...where's my dad?" Cody asked. Bree had always dreaded the moment her son wanted to know about Connor. She had been over the questions he could have asked in her head a million times, and she couldn't think of a single answer. She didn't want to tell him the truth. He might have thought she was crazy. All she could to was twist the truth.
"Well..." Bree said and sat on the bed, and Cody sat right next to her. "Your father went missing a few months before you were born. I looked everywhere for him, but I just couldn't find him."
"Did you love him?" Cody asked.
"Yes. Very much, and I know he loves you." Bree said and hugged Cody.
"How can he? He doesn't know me." Cody said.
"I know he does. He knew you were coming, but something happened." Bree said.
"What?" Cody asked
"I think that's a story to hear when your older." Bree said. "But I love you with all my heart, and that's all you need to know right now."
Cody hugged his mom, and Bree hugged him back. Bree was on the verge of tears. She missed Connor so much. She searched for a way to bring back the mirror, but failed. She looked for a portal, but failed there as well. Some nights she would cry herself to sleep because she missed him so much. Life just wasn't the same without him.
"Now, how about we go downstairs and get ready for the party." Bree said.
"Ok." Cody said. They walked out of the room and down the stairs. Most of the guests were here, and it was almost time for the surprise.
Sophie, Maya and Lucas all walked back to Sophie's house.
"So what are you going to do tonight?" Maya asked.
"Probably watch a movie." Sophie said. "I still can't believe that Grace did that."
"I can't believe whoever threw that tray had excellent aim." Lucas said.
"Haha yeah." Maya laughed.
They soon got to the house, and walked onto the front porch.
"Do you guys want to come in and have a snack?" Sophie asked.
"Sure." Maya and Lucas said. They walked inside and it was dark. Sophie turned on the lights and everybody jumped out.
"SURPRISE!" Everyone said.
"Oh my gosh!!" Sophie said. Bree and Cody walked up to her and hugged her.
"Happy Birthday sweetie." Bree said.
"Happy Birthday sis." Cody said.
"You guys did all this?" Sophie asked. "Did you guys know?"
"Yeah we knew. That's why I took you to the mall." Maya said. "It was my job to get you out of the house."
"Well I'm very surprised!" Sophie said. She then saw Adrien walk up to her.
"Hey Sophie." He said. "Happy Birthday." Adrien then handed Sophie a little box that was wrapped in wrapping paper.
"Thanks." Sophie said and grabbed it. "Glad you could come."
"Well I have a present for you too." Bree said. "Cody can you go get it?" Cody ran up the stairs, and soon came down with an adorable white Maltese puppy with a red ribbon around its neck.
"Oh my! Mom he's adorable!" Sophie said and took the puppy from Cody.
"What are you going to name him?" Maya asked.
"What about Marshmallow? That's what he looks like." Lucas said.
"I like that." Sophie said. "Ok, Marshmallow."
"Mom, can we have cake now?" Cody asked. They all laughed.
"I guess so." Bree said. Bree got the cake and put it on the table. They all sang happy birthday, then Bree cut the cake. She handed each person a piece of cake.
"Great party Bree." Roxanne said as she ate a slice of cake.
"Thanks." Bree said.
"You know what, you work too hard. How about we have a girls night tomorrow." Roxanne said.
"I don't know." Bree said.
"Come on. You haven't had a break since Cody was born." Roxanne said. "Come on it will be fun."
"I'll think about it." Bree said.
The rest of the night went perfect. They danced to music, and talked. Everyone soon left, and Bree started to clean up.
"Thanks for the party mom." Sophie said with Marshmallow in her arms walking into the kitchen where Bree was cleaning dishes.
"Your welcome." Bree said. "Hey listen, how would you feel if I went out to dinner tomorrow. I can have Brooke babysit."
"That's sounds great. But why can't I babysit Cody?" Sophie asked.
"Because of what happened last time." Bree said.
"It wasn't my fault." Sophie said.
"The fire department showed up." Bree said looking up from washing dishes.
"It was one mistake." Sophie said. "I thought I had turned off the stove."
"Brooke is babysitting. That's end of it." Bree said.
"Ok. Can Maya come over?" Sophie asked.
"Yeah, I'm going to dinner with Roxanne. So she's coming over." Bree said.
"Oh cool. Well I'm going to bed, night." Sophie said.
"Night sweetie." Bree said.
Sophie went upstairs to her room. She had a queen sized bed with a purple comforter and white sheets. A white vanity and dresser across from it, and a desk against the window. She put Marshmallow on her bed, and got into her pjs and got into her bed. She had the same picture that was in Bree's room on her nightstand. She picked it up and smiled.
"Good night dad. I miss you." Sophie said. She set it back down and turned off her lights and went to sleep.
