Stressed
"You spoke to Scarlet?" Bree said.
"Yes I did. She's meeting me at the edge of the Corner Kingdom at 8 tomorrow." Sophie said sitting on one of the chairs in their library.
"I'm not waiting for tomorrow I'm going tonight." Bree said. "She's my daughter and I can't wait."
"Bree, let's wait for tomorrow. That way we don't bump into that witch." Conner said. "We can just get Scarlet and go."
"Ok fine. Sophie it's late, please go to bed." Bree said. Sophie nodded and ran up to her room. She could tell her mom was stressed. Her mom hated it when she had to wait for something.
"Bree what's wrong?" Conner said.
"Nothing. Nothing's wrong." Bree said and turned her back to Conner deep in thought.
"Bree I've known you forever, what's wrong."
"Conner, remind me again why we moved here?" Bree said with tears forming in her eyes.
"Bree, you remember. I was offered a spot on the Fairy Council, you didn't want me to say no."
"Conner, I know. But...I was wrong. I only saw the good things and magic of this world. I didn't see the consequences of living here. I had three children, not two!" Bree broke down and fell onto the chair and cried. Conner sat on the arm rest and comforted her.
"Bree, I would have stayed in the Otherworld with you if you had told me the truth. We could have stayed, and gone to college together." Conner said. "At the time it seemed like you wanted to move."
"I didn't see the dangers of this world. Scarlet was taken, Sophie was hurt. It might only be a matter of time until something happens to Cody. I didn't want this for our children." Bree said. "Conner...I want to go back."
"Ok...ok. Let's think about this." Conner said.
"No Conner. No, I want to go back. I left my family not on good terms, and I didn't go to college. I wanted to get my masters in English, I wanted to write, I wanted to do so many things."
"I know you wanted to do all those things. I know, and I'm sorry you never got to do them. I think it might be a good idea. You moved here for me, you really didn't have a choice and I'm sorry."
"Conner it's not your fault. It's mine, I should have told you. We could have worked it out. Even though I love Sophie and Cody with all my heart, I wanted to go to college. I want to go back. This the wasn't the life I was meant for." Bree said. "Like I said Conner it's not your fault, it's mine. So when we get Scarlet we're leaving first thing."
Conner nodded his head. He felt so bad for Bree. He knew those first few years were hard. Whenever she got stressed she would say she wanted to go back. But it was never this intense. Bree stood up kissed Conner on the cheek, and went upstairs. Conner stayed in the library. Sat on the table, with a piece of paper and started to write.
Bree checked on Sophie and Cody and kissed them both. She went into hers and Conners room and put a pair of jeans on and a blouse. She sneaked out of the house and went to the Fairy Palace. She went to the south tower and opened the portal. She stepped between the borders of both worlds, and she set foot in Willow Crest California. Where she was born and raised. In the Otherworld it was only six at night. So she walked to her old home where she grew up. When she got there, she saw her mother and father in the kitchen and her sisters in the living room. She smiled and knocked on the door. Her sister Amanda (who was a year younger than her) opened the door.
"Oh my gosh! Bree, it's nice to see you." Amanda said and gave her a big hug and let her in. Her mother and father, and Janie and Ella, (her two other sisters) came over and gave her a big hug.
"Bree, we haven't seen you in forever! How's life?" Bree's mother asked.
"It's great, I'm married to an amazing man, I have three wonderful children, and a great job. I'm writer."
"We're so proud of you." Her father said and gave her a big hug.
"How long are you in town?" Ella asked.
"Can I stay here tonight actually? I'm here just to meet my publisher. All the hotels are booked, so I came here, and really really wanted to see you all."
"We wanted to see you too, and of course you can stay here Bree. Come sit and eat dinner, it's just about ready." Bree's mother said.
Bree felt really guilty staying with her parents this night, but she was really stressed out and couldn't stop thinking about Scarlet. After dinner, she looked at all the photos of her and her sisters when they were younger. It reminded her more of Sophie, Cody and Scarlet. She wouldn't trade them for anything else in the world. They were her whole world. She couldn't believe she said that she wanted to go to college instead. Even though she didn't get to live her dream in the Otherworld of being a famous writer, she got something even better. A man she truly deeply loved, and kids that were truly amazing. As she looked at these pictures she needed to go back. She was glad to see her sisters and parents, but she was a parent as well and she needed to be with her husband and kids.
"Do you remember when that picture was taken." Janie said as they looked at a picture of all of them and Ella was holding a little poodle. "That was the day we got our new dog and mom wanted a picture, and we all fought about who would hold her."
"Yeah I do. Um, mom, dad. I need to go. Conner just texted me and said that our young son Cody is sick. He just doesn't know what to do. He gets so clueless whenever they get sick."
"Sounds like somebody I know." Bree's mother looked at her husband. Bree's father rolled his eyes and smiled. "When will you come back?"
"I will, with the kids too. We're going to be moving here." Bree said.
"That's amazing! We can't wait to meet them." Amanda said. "I better leave too."
"Same." Janie said
"I have an interview in town tomorrow so could I stay here mom?" Ella asked.
"Of course Ella." Their mother said. She hugged all her children and Bree left.
Meanwhile, in the Fairytale world, Conner finished writing his story. He looked it over and was very proud. He remember he wanted to be a famous writer, and spread fairytales all over the world. Bree did have a point. What was important to him was being a writer and sharing these stories to the world. Conner stood up and walked into the living room and he saw Bree walking into the house.
"Where were you?" Conner asked.
"I was seeing my parents and sisters." Bree said. "Conner I still want to move, but I wouldn't trade this, our kids, our love for each other for anything else in the world. I'm sorry I snapped at you."
"Bree, I know you. You wouldn't get like that for any reason. It would have to be something important." Conner said and hugged Bree. "I love you so much, and your right we don't belong here anymore. We'll move. I wrote this while you were gone."
Conner handed Bree three sheets of paper. Bree read them and smiled. She loved to see him writing again.
"Conner this is amazing." Bree said. "I'm so glad to see you writing again. Is this based off your life?"
"Yeah, I just decided to write about what me and Alex went through. Our adventure here, and how it all started. I thought it would make a good book."
"It definitely would." Bree said. "I'm so happy your writing again."
"Thanks Bree. I think we'll be really happy in the Otherworld, with Sophie, Cody and Scarlet."
