Name Hunting

"What about Don?" Conner said reading from a book of names as Bree ate her breakfast.

"No, I don't like it."

"How about Sam? Or Samantha for a girl?"

"No." Bree said. "I don't want names from a book."

"Bree, you've turned down all the names I've given you." Conner said and sat next to her.

"What names do you like?" Bree asked. "For a girl, and a boy. We don't know yet remember."

"You know we could just go to the Otherworld and find out."

"Nope, we live here and they don't have any of that." Bree said. "I'm fine with waiting. Here, let's make a deal, you name one, I name one. Deal?"

"Deal." Conner said. "What do you like?"

"Um, I really like Stephen for a boy and for a girl, Scarlet. Stephen was my grandfathers name, and Scarlet was the name my mom almost named me."

"Scarlet and Stephen, I really like those." Conner said.

"Your turn."

"Well, I would want John or maybe Cody if it's boy, and for a girl...I really don't know."

"Well, Red invited me to go look at some cribs and clothes today and some thing's for the nursery and then we're going to go get some lunch, so you can go figure some out." Bree said. She stood up and kissed the top of his head. "Have fun."

"Can I come?" Conner asked.

"Red wanted it to be sort of like a girls day out. She has Charlie watching the kingdom and Ruby." Bree said. "I'll be back soon."

"Don't be to long."

"Bye." Bree left, and Conner put the plates in the sink. He didn't want names from a book either.  He wanted their names to be special. He promised himself that if he ever had a boy, he would be named John, or Cody.  (He just thought the name sounded really cool).  His father was a huge part of his life, and he wanted to be big part of his kids lives as well. That's when he thought of his grandmother. His grandmother was probably the biggest. That's when he noticed that, he didn't even know her real name. He now had to know. He ran out to the stables, tacked up one of the horses, and rode off to the Fairy Kingdom. Once he got there, he dismounted the horse and walked inside. He first saw Mother Goose.

"Hey Mother Goose." Conner said.

"Hey Conner. What are you doing here?"

"Trying to find a name. I was wondering, did you know my grandmothers real name?"

"Um, no I didn't actually. Surprising isn't it."

"Did anyone know her actual name?" Conner asked.

"No, no I don't think so." Mother Goose said. "and I was the closest person to her. You might find something in her old room. You think you'd find something there."

"Thanks, I'll look."

Conner ran up the stairs to his grandmothers old room. It looked exactly the same as when she was alive.  Alex didn't want to touch it.  She wanted everything in there just the way it was when she died.  Conner looked at all the pictures and projects that he and Alex did as kids and smiled.  There was a lot of memories in this room.  He picked up the picture of his dad, himself and his sister.  He remembered when that photo was taken.  It was taken at his grandmothers old cottage.  Memories came flooding back.  He was so excited to make some new ones with his twins.

Conner looked through drawers, and different types of files.  He finally found a painting with some writing on the bottom.  It read... To my loving mother.  Happy Mothers Day.  Love SophieSophie.  He knew that his dad had no sisters, and the painting looked really really old.  So he knew it must have been his grandmothers when she was little.  He instantly loved the name.  He put the painting back, and took the picture of his father and him and Alex.

"Alex won't notice it's gone."  He said to himself.  He soon left the palace, and went home.

The rest of the day was just torture.  He waited for Bree to come home.  He desperately wanted to tell her the name he discovered.  He ate, and read books all day.  He was bored out of his mind.  Soon Bree came home with a footman behind her carrying two big boxes.  He set them down, bowed to her and left.

"Hey hon.  How was your day?"  Bree asked.

"Great!  I found a girls name."  Conner said.

"Really!  What is it?"

"Sophie."

"Sophie.  Where'd you find that one?"

"It was my grandmothers name.  I went through a lot of stuff in her old room to find it."

"Then I love it!"  Bree said.  "Good job my little detective."

Conner laughed and kissed her.

"So what did you get?"

"Oh I got some clothes.  Mostly girls, and a few boys."  Bree said and opened up a box.  "I also got some blankets, and curtains for the nursery.  Oh and I saw the cutest cribs, I loved them because we can have their names engraved on them."

"I think that's great!"  Conner said.  "Most of these clothes are for girls."

"Because I think, we're having two girls."

"I would be happy with that."  Conner said.  The rest of the night they looked at all the things Bree bought and had some dinner.  They decided that the next day would be the first day they would decorate the nursery.

...............

"It's almost time." The witch said looking at her book.

"Are you sure this child will work?" Killian asked. "She'll be raised by heroes, she'll be surrounded by goodness. How do you know she'll obey us?"

"We're going to take her at a young age. She won't remember anything." The witch said. "Good thing about this, is that I know what their having, the kids strengths, its weaknesses and the name."

"By the way, what's your name?" Killian asked.

"That's...classified." She said. "People are after me too. If you ever decide to quit this mission and you go and tell, you won't know my name, meaning this won't give them a hint it's me."

"Then what do I call you?"

"You can call me Holly."

"Holly. I can live with that." Killian said.
