10-3

There were still incursions of the men who refused the forest dream, but they were few, and small, and caused little disturbance, so he accepted them. But now a new disturbance had entered his dream. It was an odd disturbance, for this entity did not refuse the forest dream, but entered into it, blended with it, absorbed it, became part of it, lost herself in it, adopting the form of first one forest creature, then another.

But always at her core this new entity clung to a sense of righteousness, and a purpose of retribution toward injustice, toward the very actions of the recent men who refused the dream. It was this sense of retribution that was foreign to the forest, and disturbed his dream. As this new sense entered the dream, the dream itself was guided by it, and in turn guided the new entity to the site of the men's incursion.

Here her underlying purpose was rekindled. She left the forest then, but some of the forest essence left with her, and stayed with her, so that even now she was part of his dream, and the sense of immediacy she had brought to the forest remained, and roused the dreamer from his long sleep.
