I still couldn't believe what they'd done to Chase, Janet and Karolina. I would hate to know what was happening to them in there. "No sign of Xavin's friends." Jonah said before something rustled in the closet we were in.

"Why was she leading us away from the house?" The daughter asked him, I who knew. We saw Jonah coming and hid out of sight. Thanks to Nico. "Maybe the primitive security system stopped them from entering." The daughter said as the door shut.

"What I want to know is, where is your mother? Why is she not responding to my calls?" Jonah asked, maybe she had turned back to Mrs. Yorkes.

"You think she's up to something?" Daughter asked him.

"I was so excited to have my family reunited, I don't think I realized how much we've all changed. She's so...different." Jonah said to her, could they just leave already.

"She thinks you're different. Far too human." Daughter said to him.

"Well, I...I've had a thousand other lives she wasn't a part of, so...perhaps I am." Jonah said to them before I imagined some ear plugs so I wouldn't have to listen to their conversation any longer. It was horrible listening in on this. It had been hours since we had been trapped.

"Wake up, Nico. Wake up! Hey! You nodded off. Your snoring almost gave us away." Alex said as Nico woke up and stood up.

"Just ignore him Nico. We were fine." I said to her with a smile.

"Conceal." Nico said while picking up the staff.

"God, he hasn't moved for hours. He doesn't eat or sleep or pee. All of which I kinda need to do right now." Alex said to us, I looked at him.

"I mean he's not exactly human is he." I said to Alex, he wasn't going to do human things just because he was in Victor's body.

"Better hold it." Nico said to him, he had no choice.

"We've still got the element of surprise. If I can make it to that Fistigons prototype, we can fight him. You hold him off with the Staff, Y/n can create and illusion, I boot up The Abstract. We play to our strengths. You two kick ass, I do the techie stuff. This rescue mission is finally over." Alex said to us, I mean it sounded like a good plan but it would never work.

"Look at my eyes." Nico said and we looked at her. The area around her eye started to have a porcelain look all black and shattered. "I could lose control if I fight. I can feel it." She said to us, we'd be with her.

"Okay." Alex said before we left the room. Victor was gone. "Damnit. He took The Abstract." He said to us, I mean I wasn't surprised.

"You know what? To be fair, so long as he was down here, We never really had a chance." Nico said to him and she had a point.

"We said, 'Kill or be killed.' So what if you lost control?" Alex asked her.

"Alex, don't do this." I said to him as I shook my head.

"I could've killed you both, okay? Or them." Nico said making Alex scoff.

"Nico, we can't win without the Staff. You can't be afraid to use it." Alex said to her, how selfish was he.

"Oh, easy for you to say. You've never had to wield anything this powerful. Only Y/n can understand what it's like." She said to me and I looked at her and then him.

"She's right, and your being selfish Alex not only could she have lost control and possible killed us. But if you wanted to use me for my shit god knows what could've happened. All I know is I'm more powerful that what I seem. What if I accidentally killed someone as well. You wouldn't understand." I said to him, I was not in the mood to argue with him.

"Oh, because someone has to handle the nerdy shit." He said to us, that was easy to handle.

"Then handle it. Okay? Just focus on how to get these three out of the tubes without The Abstract." Nico said to him.

"Fine. Let me know if something happens outside on this side." Alex said before putting his hand on Janet's tube. It did nothing. He kept trying.

"What's wrong?" Nico asked him.

"I don't know. I think I'm locked out. Which means we're on our own." Alex said to us, we looked at them all.

"So are they." Nico said to us.

"We can't help them." I said to them all, all I wanted to do was get them out and keep them safe. We then started walking to try and find The Abstract.

"Gotta be here somewhere." Alex said to us as we roamed the hallway.

"Xavin is the key to finding your brother." We heard Jonah say to the Daughter.

"Hide." Nico whispered.

"She'll lead us to the rest of the kids. If you brother won't reveal himself, well, we'll torture them until we all find out who's inside." Jonah said as they started to pass him.

"Then we kill Xavin and the rest." Daughter said before looking our direction but we were hidden. "No loose ends when we leave." She added while looking around.

"Agree, but Karolina can never know." Jonah said before walking into another room.

"You can count on me, Father." Daughter said before walking away. Nico then took the spell away. We then continued on into the room Jonah was in and shut the door behind.

"Wow. She's actually worse than my mom. We've gotta warn Xavin and the others. Wait. Why on earth are you smiling right now?" Nico asked Alex, why was he smiling.

"Because...it's showtime." Alex said while looking at the book. We had The Abstract. We could free them. He opened the book and it was different symbols.

"User identified." The Abstract said when he opened them.

"Whoa. That's weird. I think I can read this. I mean, kind of. It's- -it's math-based. It's amazing!" Alex said to us, he was too excited.

"Calm down the nerd enthusiasm." I said to her while putting my hand out.

"Okay, put a pin in your nerdgasm and find the code Janet mentioned." Nico said to him.

"Yeah, it's not organized like a normal book or a computer file. I'm gonna try using a cryptographic algorithm. It's this theory I have on quantum key distribution." He said to us, me and Nico looked at each other.

"I understood four of those words." Nico said to us, I looked at her.

"I only understand one." I said to her before looking back at him.

"It means I'm gonna wing it. Remember: nerdy shit, me; protecting us from evil aliens, all you." Alex said before Nico got the Staff out.

"Shroud." She said before doing something. I created a barricade.

"Alex, hurry up!" Nico shouted, I was focusing too hard on the barricade.

"Alex, I can't do this much longer." I said to him, he needed to hurry up. I heard Nico drop the staff and just like that I lost control.

"Alex, shut it down!" Nico said before Alex shut The Abstract, we then hid again. In another closet. We saw Jonah enter the room and pick up the staff. "We have to fight now." Nico said to us before Jonah left the room with the staff. We then left the room to fight. Nico went in first and I went in after her. They started fighting for the staff. "You're not strong enough to take it from me." Nico said to him. I started looking at the tubes.

"I don't have to take it." Jonah said to her, he broke it.

"Nico, it's not safe for you anymore." I said to her, she was powerless now. We then both started fighting him.

"Every time I get close, the combination changes. I need more time!" Alex shouted at us, couldn't he see we were busy.

"Working on it!" Nico yelled at him.

"We're trying!" I yelled before he threw Nico across the room. I then started to fight back stronger.

"I'm in!" Alex shouted as Nico picked up some chains to fight with I created a metal bar so that I could fight with something strong. Jonah then threw Nico again. "It's unlocked!" Alex shouted at us, Nico groaned. He then threw me.

"Kinda wished I hadn't destroyed that Staff. It'd be real justice yo drive it through your body like you did mine." Jonah said as he put his hands out, I stood up and went to attack him again.

"Hey!" Molly said before punching him through the glass. Gert, Xavin and Old Lace and finally joined us.

"You were right. It didn't take long." Nico said after she stood up. Xavin then started to do something which trapped him.

"They're free." Xavin said as we went through the door. I went to Chase and hugged him. I didn't realize I was crying. When we pulled apart he looked at Janet's tube.

"Where's your Mom? Did she..." I started before going silent, I couldn't say it.

"She's gone. Well, kinda not. It's hard to explain." He said to me before I hugged him again. We then went to get his clothes so we could go. Chase stopped again.

"Guys, stop." Karolina said as Chase just stared Jonah. Chase got changed and I got in the car with.

"I'm sorry about Janet." I said to him while taking his hand.

"She saved me and Karolina." He said to us, once we got home it was dark out.

"All right, everyone, get some sleep. We'll reconvene in the morning." Nico said to us, I liked the sound of that.

"Can I just say what we're all thinking?" Gert asked, no one was thinking what she was thinking.

"No one else is thinking it." Nico said to her.

"It's only you." Molly said to her.

"And it's not fair." I said to her, she had to give him a chance.

"We're really just welcoming him back after everything?" Gert asked, and we would be.

"I'm standing right here. You don't have to third person me." He said to her, he didn't deserve to be treated this way.

"He's been through a lot." Karolina said to him.

"Yeah, and so have we. And Gert's right. Most of its been his fault." Alex said to us, all because he thought that Jonah was his dad and not Jonah.

"Okay, I guess we're sticking with the third person." Chase said to himself.

"He just lost his mom and his dad." Karolina said to them, he was alone now. We were all he has.

"Okay. I feel bad about that for sure." Gert said to us, sure she did.

"The more parents we lose, the safer we get. One night." Alex said before looking at him, he wasn't going to stay one night. He'd be staying forever.

"Wait. I was pissed at Chase too for betraying us and being a coward- -" Molly started before being cut off.

"Still right here, guys." Chase said but he was ignored.

"But this is our moment of victory. And we're all here together. I've basically lost two sets of parents, and I'll be damned if I lost any more family members. And yeah. Chase is family. Even if he's a cowardly betrayer." Molly said ad she was right with everything she was saying.

"Which he definitely is." Gert said to us.

"All I'm saying is...I think he should stay. And you all can just get over it. Because we're a family. So, say your sorry to each other, and let's celebrate!" Molly said and I smiled,

"Yeah, um..." Alex started.

"One night." Gert said while looking at Chase.

"I'm beat." Karolina said to us.

"I tried." Molly said to Chase.

"I agree with everything you said." I said to Molly with a smile.

"Appreciate it." Chase said before he started to walk away and I grabbed his arm to take him to our room.

"Wait. What about the fourth member of the Gibb family? We're not safe until he's discovered and destroyed." Xavin said to us, we would just have to set first.

"Well...we'll, uh-  -we'll be on high alert tonight. In the morning, we can try and figure out a way to draw him out." Alex said to her, we needed our rest.

"No. You don't understand. Karolina cannot be alone with Nico. She's not safe." Xavin said, did that mean that Nico was the imposter.

'Wait, are you saying that Nico is the alien?" Karolina asked her.

"Because Nico seems fine to me." I said to Xavin.

"No. Honestly, that's probably just your jealousy talking, Xavin." Gert said to her, sounded like it.

"That's kind of not cool, X." Molly said while looking at her.

"I know that it's hard for you to see Nico and I together, especially because you believe in your prophecy, but now that we're both back- -" Karolina started before Nico cut her off.

"No. No, I-  -I think she's right. I, uh...I've been having these waking dreams. Hallucinations. I think that thing is inside of me. And if it is, then...none of you are safe." She said to us before crying, I was not ready to lose my best friend to some thing. I had to get her back.
