After meeting with Qrow, the Kybuck Clan arrived at Ozpin's office where Ozpin was speaking with Qrow, Ironwood, Glynda and Winter. It was clear that the room was tense. 

Ironwood: You've been out of contact for weeks! You can't just go dark like that in the field!

Qrow: I'm not one of your special operatives, Jimmy!

Winter: General.

Qrow: Whatever. You sent me to get intel on our enemy, and I'm telling you, our enemy is here.

Ironwood: We know.

Qrow: Oh! Oh, you know! Well, thank goodness I'm out there risking my life to keep you all informed! 

Ironwood: Qrow...

Qrow then pulls out his scroll and mockingly presents it to Ironwood. 

Qrow: Communication's a two-way street, pal. You see this? That's the SEND button.

Winter: They had reason to assume you'd been compromised.

Qrow: And I have reason to assume you don't need to be here. Seriously, who invited her? I'm pretty sure the kiddies have a better reason to be here than her! 

Petro snickers while Ironwood dismissed Winter, leaving the inner circle to discuss Qrow's findings. In that moment, the tension in the room was only slightly defused.

Ironwood: Go on.

Qrow: Your little infiltrator isn't just another pawn. They're the one responsible for Autumn's condition.

Goodwitch: What?

Qrow: Despite what the world thinks, we're not just teachers, or generals, or headmasters. The people in this room, the leaders of the other academies, we're the ones that keep the world safe from the evils no one even knows about! It's why we meet behind closed doors, why we work in the shadows. So you tell me, James, when you brought your army to Vale, did you think you were being discreet, or did you just not give a damn?!

Katooni: I'm with Qrow. Bringing an army to Vale will only make things worse! 

Ironwood: I will not be lectured on military tactics by a child!

Petro: You watch your mouth, pal! Just because you're some big shot general doesn't mean you can talk to her like that! 

Ironwood: I'd watch that tone, boy. Discreet wasn't working. I'm here because this is what was necessary.

Katooni: That's what they all say, General Ironwood. Conflict and force is not the way to peace!

Qrow: Sounds like the kids are smarter than you, Jimmy. You're here because Ozpin wanted you here! He made you a part of this inner circle and opened your eyes to the real fight that's in front of us!

Ironwood: And I am grateful.

Qrow: Oh, well, you've got a real funny way of showing it.

Ironwood: The people of Vale needed someone to protect them; someone who would act. When they look to the sky and see my fleet, they feel safe, and our enemies will feel our strength.

Upon hearing Ironwood's approach, the Kybuck Clan became concerned. Qrow simply laughs.

Qrow: You. You think they're scared of your little ships? I've been out there and I've seen the things she's made, and let me tell you - they are fear. 

Ozpin: And fear will bring the Grimm. A guardian is a symbol of comfort. But an army is a symbol of conflict. There's an energy in the air now, a question in the back of everyone's minds...if this is the size of our defenses, then what is it we're expecting to fight?

Katooni: I agree with Ozpin. The reason you all got together was to protect the people of Remnant. Bringing an army this big will only result in fear. If the people are afraid, our enemies will capitalize on this!

At this point, Ironwood expressed annoyance at Ozpin's approach. He didn't even acknowledge the words of Katooni. 

Ironwood: So then, what would you suggest we do?

Ozpin: I suggest we find our guardian. I will need a moment to talk with the Kybuck Clan. 

Ironwood along with Qrow and Goodwitch left the room. 

Petro: What an asshole. 

Ozpin: James can be insufferable at times, but he has good intentions. 

Zatt: I don't think anything good will come out of this. 

Ozpin: The situation is out of my hands, I'm afraid. The council has appointed James the head of security for the Vytal Festival. But in the meantime, there is something I must show you all. 

Ozpin then leads the Kybuck Clan deep into a vast vault built beneath Beacon Academy. The Kybuck Clan were in awe at the vast vault that lay beneath the school. Ozpin then leads them into a room where they find a young woman on life support.

Petro: Damn...

Katooni: Who is that girl?

Ozpin: Her name is Amber. She is the Fall Maiden. 

Katooni: Fall Maiden? 

Ozpin: A woman gifted with great power. She was attacked by several unknown assailants looking to steal her powers. The attack left her comatose.

Ganodi: Why isn't she at a hospital? She needs medical attention! 

Ozpin: Because we fear she will not make it. You see, the powers of the Maidens pass from host to host upon the death of the current holder to the last person in that Maiden's thoughts. The holder is always a woman. 

Katooni: And you couldn't risk her powers falling into the wrong hands. 

Ozpin: It's possible that whoever did this to Amber knew of this as well. Qrow was able to bring her here. 

The Kybuck Clan were stunned at the sight of Amber clinging on to life. 

Katooni: You mentioned a guardian before. Who do you have in mind?

Ozpin: I believe Miss Nikos is the one most worthy to inherit the powers of the Fall Maiden.

Petro: How exactly are you going to convince her to go with...this?

Ozpin: I'll worry about that. For now, I suggest you all rest. Your team has a big match tomorrow. 

With that, Ozpin led the Kybuck Clan out of the Beacon Vault. After that, the Kybuck Clan decided to turn in for the day to prepare for their big match tomorrow despite the rising threat.
