EPISODE 2: The summary of Gita

Sri Krishna, the Lord of the Universe decided to impart his divine knowledge to his path.

Sri Krishna: Oh Parth, Learned ones never lament for life nor death. Neither was there a time where I did not exist nor you nor anyone in this world.

Arjuna: How come this is true, Madhava? Anyone who took birth has to die. Death happens for compulsory.

Sri Krishna: Parth, you are seeing the body, I am seeing the soul. The soul is imperishable. The soul can be neither destroyed by fire nor sword nor water. It is immortal.

The soul is neither born nor does it ever die; nor having once existed, does it ever cease to be. The soul is without birth, eternal, immortal, and ageless. It is not destroyed when the body is destroyed.

Your body is just a vehicle for your soul. After your body gets perished, it either enters a new body or attains liberation from this cycle.

As a person sheds worn-out garments and wears new ones, likewise, at the time of death, the soul casts off its worn-out body and enters a new one.

So why are you upset when everyone has to take birth and die?

O Arjuna, you are a warrior. Your duty is to fight for the sake of Dharma (Righteousness).

O Son of Kunti, be prepared to fight!

Fight for the sake of duty, neither for happiness nor victory.

You have a right to perform your prescribed duties, but you are not entitled to the fruits of your actions. When you do this, you get liberated from the cycle of birth and death.

Arjuna: O Keshava, why do you want me to engage in this warfare which results only in destruction? Please tell me the path through which I can be benefitted.

Sri Krishna replied-

O Parth! Doing your prescribed duties benefits not only you but for your entire mankind.

One can't achieve freedom from the cycle of life and karmic reactions by stopping yourself from doing your duty.

O Dhananjaya, physical renunciation doesn't lead to perfection and God.

There is no duty for me to do in all the three worlds, O Parth, nor do I have anything to gain or attain. Yet, I am engaged in prescribed duties.

If I don't do my duty, the three worlds may get destroyed. The people will not follow the correct path. It's my duty to lead the people in the right direction.

[ Sri Krishna is the Lord of Universes. He is above Karma and Dharma. But still, he does Karma for the welfare of his creations and devotees. ]

कुर्याद्विद्वांस्तथासक्तश्चिकीर्षुर्लोकसंग्रहम् ||

Ignorants do their duties for the fruits and results while the learned ones perform the duty without attachment for the fruits and for the society.

O Phalguna, perform all your activities by offering unto me. Meditate on me. Be free from desires and selfishness.

Desires destroy people's peace and makes them abstain from their prescribed duties. Those whoever follows these will soon be released from the bondage and ultimately reach me. It is the duty of yours to abstain from attachment from objects due to your senses.

"It is far better to perform one's natural prescribed duty, though tinged with faults, than to perform another's prescribed duty, though perfectly"

Arjuna: O Madhava, Into which a person is forced to do sinful acts, though unwillingly, and due to forces outside?

Sri Krishna:

"LUST". It is the lust that comes due to force and when a person becomes contact with materials.

This lust latter transforms into vexation. This vexation turns illusion. Then Illusion imprisons you in the bondage which becomes very difficult to break.

"As the fire is covered by smoke, as the mirror is covered by dust, as the embryo is covered by the uterus, the living beings are similarly covered by different degrees of lust"

So the eternal enemy of a living being striving to break the bondage is his lust.

Lust stops him from knowing the real knowledge. It bewilders him. Lust is the destroyer of knowledge and self-realization. It is very essential to break this at the beginning itself, O Dhananjaya.

Thus knowing the soul to be superior to the material intellect, O mighty armed Arjun, subdue the self (senses, mind, and intellect) by the self (strength of the soul), and kill this formidable enemy called lust.

O Phalguna, I and You have taken various births in past and I still remember those and you couldn't.

Although I have neither birth and death, the lord of this universe, I appear in this world when needed every thousand years.

yadā yadā hi dharmasya glānir bhavati bhārata
abhyutthānam adharmasya tadātmānaṁ sṛijāmyaham

paritrāṇāya sādhūnāṁ vināśhāya cha duṣhkṛitām
dharma-sansthāpanārthāya sambhavāmi yuge yuge

O Partha, Whenever there is a decline in Dharma, I descend myself in this world. To destroy the cruel practices and to uphold Dharma, I appear every thousand years.

Whoever knows about me and my activities, whoever understands me, will not take birth again, instead attain me and my abode.

The only way to attain me is to get freed from material attachment, fear, anger, jealousy, greediness, and arrogance and always devote oneself to me. Many have attained me in this way.

There is no Karma for me and nothing affects me. One who understands me will never do his karma for fruits. He always does Karma for me.

One who is fully absorbed in worshiping/loving me will attain my abode for sure.

O Arjuna, remember without sacrifice, no one can live happily on this planet!

The ones who doubt the scriptures fall down and are always ignorant. For doubting soul, there is neither happiness nor peace.

One who is immersed in devotional service, freeing himself from fruits of his acts, becomes free from his duty.

O Bharata, therefore the doubts arose in your heart due to ignorance should be destroyed with the weapon of knowledge.

Then Arjuna asked, "O Keshava, what do you recommend, Renunciation of work or work with devotion?"

Sri Krishna replied, " Though both are good for liberation, work in devotional service is always better than renunciation".

The one who is affected internally neither by joy nor sadness is called the wise man, O Arjuna. He sees everyone equally, let it be Brahmana or cow or elephant or dog.

An intelligent person never takes part in activities that result in misery. One should be able to tolerate the urges of material attractions and senses.

Sri Krishna revealed his Virat Roop which energized and boosted Arjuna's confidence and devotion. The Gita of Sri Krishna is a large part that enlightens the lives of people in Kali Yuga.
