What Are They Doing Now? Christmas Edition

By Pandora "PK" Kisaragi

Since it's December, I think it's cool to know what exactly the people are doing for the holidays. So I asked people all over Gensokyo their plans.

PK: So Eiki, what are your plans for Christmas?

Eiki: Of course, take the day off. I'm gonna have to shop for a barrier so a certain someone doesn't escape on the job...

PK: Oh yeah... Didn't you-

Eiki: Yep.

PK: I see... Well it's great to strengthen your defenses.

Eiki: Indeed.

PK: What are you gonna do for the holidays Byakuren?

Byakuren: Do the usual prayers, then close the temple early.

PK: The formal and religious hours, right?

Byakuren: Yep. The staff are involved in many of the activities we have at the temple, like making snowmen.

PK: Why aren't you using the heater Reimu?

Reimu: It broke a while ago. I was too lazy to fix it-

PK: It's fixed now.

Reimu: Wha- *notices the heater is on* Well I'm gonna host a Christmas party here!

PK: Say Suika, what are you gonna do for the holidays?

Suika: Drink with my drinking partner.

PK: Do you drink a specific beverage when it's December?

Suika: Yep. Red Wine and lots of Champagne!

PK: Who can tolerate drinks at best? You or Yuugi?

Suika: I do!

Yuugi: No I do!

PK: Better leave before something bad happens...

Finally, let's see how the residents at the Scarlet Mansion will do.

Meiling: Honestly, sleep by the fireplace.

Sakuya: Preparing for the best holiday feast there ever was.

Patchouli: Preparing the Christmas fireworks.

Remilia: Honestly, hanging out with Flandre. It feels like that she needs to be involved in our Christmas outing.

Flandre: Promoting Christmas at McFlans!

Me? What I'm doing for the holidays? Selling some Christmas merch at Kourin Media and Entertainment. Oh and I'm also going to that Christmas Party Reimu talked about. It's located at the Hakurei Shrine.

Exposures! Scandals! Are They All Good?

by Rinnosuke Morichika

A little while back, after the first volume was published, an event known as the exposure wars began. Rivals from other news companies sought out to find the most scandalous things that people secretly did. Now of course doing actions that are really illegal can get you in hot water. But in situations like these, no one is really happy with multiple scandals that seem true, but also over-saturated. And if you're doing scandals just for your personal gain, then you yourself are hurting your own company.

I decided to ask Hieda no Akyuu, writer of the Gensokyo Chronicles, to decide when it's right to provide a scandal.

Rinnosuke: So, with the ability to remember everything when seeing things, does that include wrongdoings?

Akyuu: Sadly yes. We can't avoid these actions. They just happen all the time.

Rinnosuke: But doesn't it prove useful in cases that are deemed criminal?

Akyuu: Sometimes. Since the east doesn't have security cameras yet, and the fact that not a lot of people use smartphones, they can't deduct whether I'm telling the truth or not.

Rinnosuke: Ahh, I see. Word of mouth can't tell everything.

Akyuu: Now you were asking me about how much exposure can be added to a news?

Rinnosuke: Yes.

Akyuu: Technically speaking, if it's something that everyone sees or someone personally related to the accused takes it to their account, then it's fine to report it. For example, you remember when Komachi made her debut as a gravure idol?

Rinnosuke: Definitely.

Akyuu: Well you can do an article about her manager who bribed her for sexual pleasures got arrested.

Rinnosuke: ...did that happen?

Akyuu: Look, I'm just giving you an example here. It's up to you to figure out if it's true or not, or Komachi herself tells you about it.

Rinnosuke: ...Oh! So you weren't telling the truth then!

Akyuu: Exactly. Because everyone knows right after you did the interview with her Eiki sinned the crew for these Komachi shoots. And now Komachi's retired from the idol industry.

Rinnosuke: Hahahaha. We went way off-topic. Now, when exactly will scandals and exposures be over-saturated?

Akyuu: Sometimes, making these types of articles are fun to do; too much fun that you single-handily focus on these scandals, and making companies go out of business. It's fine to make scandals yes, but do so in moderation. Your consumers will be bored because they don't want to read negative things all the time. The majority of them like to read articles that are enjoyable, fun, satisfying to read.

Rinnosuke: So basically in a nutshell, just don't focus on a single topic and be a melting pot.

Akyuu: Exactly.

Rinnosuke: One more question. What happens if they are doing these scandals on purpose?

Akyuu: Definitely a red flag. If you're smart enough to know what's real and what's fake, then you got yourself a real consumer here. Making up scandals are bogus and damage the reputation of the companies.

So, please do yourself a favor and be smart about what you're reading.

Fundoshi Lord is here? Why does Rinnosuke have a Fundoshi Closet?

by Pandora "PK" Kisaragi

PK: I remember reading an article where someone took a picture of you in a fundoshi Rinnosuke and it said that you do your laundry lewdly.

Rinnosuke: Ah! ...*laughs* must be that tengu...

PK: So, what's with the fundoshi talk? Why hasn't anyone commented on that?

Rinnosuke: That's because no one cares about that. The humans knew about the fundoshi stuff since the day Kourindou started business. So when they read it, they just shrugged it off.

PK: I see... That explains all the fundoshi memes I see on the DVDs...

Rinnosuke: Huh?

PK: Oh uhh...

Excellent Mochi??? How to make Eientei-styled Mochi

By Kaguya Houraisan and Pandora Kisaragi

Now with Christmas on the way, you can expect mochi to be selling like crazy. Especially if it belongs to Eientei. But I can understand the people that get lost in the bamboo forest, unable to have that delicious and chewy delicacy. So Kaguya, resident of Eientei, will explain how to make Eientei Mochi.

You need some glutenous rice, a steamer, large wood hammer, and a large wooden mortar. Really important to get the wood hammer and mortar because that defines the mochi's character.

First off, steam the rice until it softens. Make sure it's still hot!

Next, place the rice in the mortar... and start pounding!

TIP: It's great to shout during this process. Gives off that extra strength don't you think?

Make sure to put the starch in periodically or else the mochi will be too sticky.

Once you feel like it has the right consistency, take the mochi out of the mortar and cut it into pieces.

Congratulations! You made Eientei-styled mochi!

Wow, I'll definitely bring some homemade Eientei mochi for the party.

Come on down to the 9th annual Hakurei Holiday Party!

December 25: 7pm to 1am!

******************************************************************************

Well it looks like we've reached the end of the second volume. We wish you a happy holidays and happy new year, from PK and Rinnosuke at Kourindou!

******************************************************************************

Hey everyone. It's Toyosatomimi no Miko. You know, there's a time to put away your differences and just hang out with people with no boundaries. That's what the party at the Hakurei Shrine is for, right? I would like to say that I was Youkai Santa; giving out gifts to people and youkai is a generous action to do. It creates that feeling of guilt towards the people that are unfortunate and now are given another chance to be happy with the people around.

So my advice is to be happy, and appreciate the stuff you have, not want.

Until then, this is Miko, and I hope you will also treat volume 3 of Kourin Chronicle like a masterpiece.
