Chapter 2

I felt pain all over my body and groaned  as I tried to move my aching limbs. The last thing I remember is falling. Falling down a rabbit hole after being sucked into my computer. I tried opening my eyes but I was blinded by a bright light above me. 'Geez, light! Why are you trying to fry my eyes!!?' I scowled. Wincing at the foreign light, I turned my body to the side and caught sight of my surroundings. It was dark. Really, really dark. If this were a movie, this would mean I got sucked into the game! But, this doesn't look like Garry's Mod. As I attempted to sit up, I felt my fingers graze something soft beneath me. When observing them more closely, I could make out the fancy gold coloring of flowers. They were beautiful like someone took real care in trying to preserve these beacons of hope in this darkness. Speaking of beacon. The bright light I saw earlier seemed to be illuminating from where I fell. 'What a coincidence', I thought to myself sarcastically. That was the only thing in this room; a black abyss with a single light shining on a bed of flowers.

Any other person would desperately look for a way out, but a part of me felt a sense of familiarity in here. Maybe it was a game I played before? Nah, I would have recognized it. But, somehow, I felt deja vú as I sat here for some time. Maybe this was a dream. Yeah, a dream that seemed so real that I could feel pain? That kind of makes sense; I would wake up and be back to my bedroom. No weird portals. No Garry's Mod glitches. Just normal life.

But, is that what I want? To stay in the same cycle over and over again? Before I could delve deeper into this new feeling, there came a quiet groan outside my sights. Carefully, I got on my hands and knees; crawling slowly towards the source of the noise. Strangely, I can feel my knees touch the dewy grass. I frowned and looked down to see my clothes have been changed! My top was no longer my usual blue sweatjacket. Instead, it was replaced with a light blue dress that reached my knees. Looking further down my body, my jeans were swapped with nothing but white stockings and my purple sneakers were now black flats. The only thing that hasn't changed was my ponytail but it was decorated with a cute ribbon. Hey, who changed my clothes!!? I felt like I was dressed by an old lady!

I continued grumbling and staring at my clothes; wondering who changed me and how they did it so quickly. Well, I was probably out for an hour or so. They could have changed me pretty quickly during that span of time. In the end, I decided to ignore the clothes that are now on my body and continue to walk towards the groans. Maybe this isn't a dream. Maybe my friends got sucked in too? No, that can't be. I didn't hear any noise or screaming when I fell. Suddenly, I tripped and fell on top of someone, who let out an agonizing groan. I gasped and pulled myself away from the person; scrambling just a foot or two away from them.

¨W-who's there?¨ I squeaked out, covering my knees with my dress.

The person groaned again and stood up. It's Dan! My friends are actually here! But, something was off. I stared at his attire in confusion. He looked..............

I giggled at Dan as he tilted his head in confusion.

¨What are you laughing at? And, why are you in a dress??¨ Dan croaked, rubbing his eyes. He looked at his arm and gasped at what he saw. I am guessing he wasn't wearing that when we were going to play. He had a light grey vest on with a dark purple under shirt. On his face were round 'Harry Potter' glasses sitting on the bridge of his nose. His pants were normal black pants and dark dress shoes.

¨Y-you look like a n-nerd!¨ I stifled out as I continued to giggle a him. It is surely a sight to see. He huffed and pulled up his glasses.

¨At least, I don't look like my grandma dressed me!¨ he retorted, crossing his arms. I took time to catch my breath and smiled softly. It was great to have some company. It would be incredibly lonely if I was the only one here. Speaking of company....................

¨Hey, Dan. We should probably look for the others.¨

¨No need to. They're right there.¨

And, behold, our friends were talking to each other towards a far end of a unseen hallway. 'Huh, never saw that before.' I shrugged off the feeling and grabbed the four-eyed Dan but was stopped as he jerked his hand away. I was about to tell him to take his time when he grabbed some random notebook and pulled me towards the group.

¨I forgot about the notebook.¨

¨Why would you need a notebook???¨ I questioned and all I got was a shrug in response. As we advanced to our other friends, I felt it hard not to contain my laughter. That was because some of them just looked ridiculous! The first person that greeted us was Mark. He wore a simple white tank, brown shorts, ankle-high socks, and sneakers. His hair was pulled back by a bandanna with matching gloves. He actually looked like he can break you in half! ¨Dang, Mark!¨ was all I said as he laughed and scratched the back of his head. Next, was Séan. He was all fancied up in Western clothing. His hair fell a little bit on his right eye; the rest was slightly covered by his brown cowboy hat. The clothing was typical: dark brown vest, white long-sleeved shirt, khakis, and brown dusty boots. A fancy belt hung around his hips as the buckle glittered at different angles. But, nothing could compare to the glittering gun that was safely put in the holster. It was a beauty.

¨Kori, check this out! I'm a cowboy!!¨ The Irish man shouted excitedly and tipped his hat, playfully. Honestly, it fit him quite well.

¨At least you look cool.¨ Justin mumbled and walked from the shadows.

¨Oh my!¨ I laughed out loud. Justin basically wore a blue ballet outfit with matching shoes hanging over his shoulders. Mark smirked and poked at the humiliated man. ¨You aren't wearing the matching shoes, princess?~¨Mark teased. At that, the man cringed and shook his head violently. ¨They're too girly and I can't put them on right!¨he replied, hiding his embarrassment. I sighed and patted Justin on the back. ¨Sometimes, the world wants to break us. Sometimes, it is like.......this.¨ I comforted, gesturing to his outfit. All I got was a grumble for a reply and decided to not push any further. I looked to Yami, who was having a conversation with Jack. Wade wore a white, stained shirt with dark green pants and worn sneakers. His front side was covered by a pink apron with a darker pink heart in the middle. He was, currently, swinging the frypan as if it was a sword. Probably showing off.

¨Look at this! I'm like Rapunzel!!¨ Yami exclaims, swinging the pan more.

¨Nice moves, man! Check out my revolver.¨ Séan brags as he spins it around like nothing.

I smiled at the sight before me when I realized something that made me frown. ¨Hey, have you seen Michelle anywhere?¨ I asked. I haven't seen Minx ever since we got here. Did she go ahead of us? Was she not sucked in? Everyone looked at each other; expecting the other to know where the lost girl is. They looked back at me and shook their heads. Poor Minx. She must be alone and scared!

¨We need to find her. She might be lost somewhere around here!¨ Dan advised with concern. I nodded as did everyone else and began our search. Starting with the entrance in front of us.
