Siddhant's POV :

1 year later....

"Wake up, Siddhant!!!"

I pulled the pillow closer groaning in sleep. And the next minute, somebody tossed on the bed like a monster ripping the pillow off my head.

"5 minutes more..." I murmured shutting my eyes close.

She grabbed my arms and started shaking me up. "Your boss has called up."

"What?????" I stormed up on the bed alarmed. My sleepy eyes widened as she burst out into a laughter.

"That's not the legit way to wake me up!" I grunted rubbing my eyes. She got down from the bed and threw a towel on my face reminding me that it was my brother's wedding about which I completely forgot in sleep.

I entered the dinning arena after taking a bath. Since the last one year the usual scene I have been witnessing in my house every time I visit Guwahati is this mother and daughter pair fighting over the silliest thing. Knowingly, Drishti was a teenager but Ruhanna is worse than that when she also starts fighting like a teenager with her.

"My goodness.!!!" I left out a heavy sigh, "What are you both fighting over this early morning?"

Before Ruhanna could explain anything, Drishti stood up from her place and marched towards me.

"Look at Maa...she isn't allowing me to wear my new frock tonight. She says I look fat and piggy in it..." Drishti grumbled puffing her cheeks.

Basically she was talking about the frock which she selected while going out for shopping with me. I liked that dress but Ruhanna said it looked like an underrated carpet. I don't find any sense in that.

"Alright...now wife, your turn." I sat down giving chance for Ruhanna to speak up. I was always the referee.

"I bought her such a beautiful lehenga yesterday and instead of wearing that she wants to wear that carpet you bought." She explained without thinking that she was insulting my choice in front of me.

Living with these two ladies in one house wasn't easy. Always, they had something to fight over. Say it a pin or a dress.

I took a deep breath.

"Just look how mean she is acting...she says I look like a pig...what kind of a mother says that." Drishti started her emotional torture on me as usual while Ruhanna again started arguing like a kid.

"Shut up both of you..." I stamped my hand on the table. There was pin drop silence.

"Drishti, you don't look fat in that dress. You look cute. But your mother wants you to wear the dress she bought for you. So I suggest you to go with her choice."

"But I don't like that dress....it is too heavy like a truck." Drishti cried out.

I couldn't believe that God dragged me from solving criminal cases at office to solving such a silly dress fight in my house. What a life!!

"Did you try that dress?" I asked.

"I don't want to...I never wore a lehenga in my entire life.." She passed a wary look at Ruhi.

"Go to your room and try it out. You might surprise yourself. Do you understand??" I said calmly with a smile.

She nodded and ran to her room. I had one advantage in this house that the little lady listened only to me which gave me a supreme power. Ruhanna was a good mother but instead of making the child understand her every word, she started shouting and yelling all over the house. She forgets sometimes that Drishti is a teenager now, not a tiny kid who would listen to her every word. Typical Indian mother. Teenagers need to be handled cautiously.

"I have been shouting for a day so that she will try that dress and you did it in 5 minutes. I really envy you." Ruhi narrowed her eyes at me.

"Because I don't shout like you." I laughed looking at her hopeless face.

After a couple of minutes, I saw Drishti walk out of her room. My jaws literally dropped watching her in that pink net lehenga. She was really taller than her age and the colour matched her rose white skin tone. Ruhanna couldn't stop admiring her in that dress.

"I don't look bad..." Drishti chuckled flaunting the dress.

"I told you, princess." I smiled.

"Awww my sweetheart looks like a doll in this." Ruhanna planted a kiss on her cheek.

"Thank God you didn't say again that I look like a pig."

Drishti walked to me lifting her lehenga carefully so that she doesn't tumble.

"I am gonna wear this." She confessed.

"You actually look like a pink doll." I admired her. She was so much like Ruhanna.

"Best father in the world." She jumped up hugging me.

I smiled looking at Ruhi who stood there with her arms crossed and she smiled back.

My phone beeped.

"Bhai where are you? It is my wedding and you are still not here."

"Stop shouting, I just woke up. I will be there at your place after an hour."

"Be quick." He said and hung the call. Jaaiz was extremely excited concerning his marriage like every other groom. It was still hard for me to believe that my little brother was getting married.

"I have to reach Heena's place with Drishti. But before that I have to go to the parlour." Ruhanna said as she walked into the kitchen.

"No problem. I can drop you on the way." I said pouring a glass of water.

"Ok....and did you do anything about your transfer?" She asked opening a packet of pasta.

Forget her question, I felt my goosebumps on seeing the pasta.

"Let's eat something else. Pasta will be too heavy." I advised to prevent myself from a disastrous breakfast.

"Alright. But first answer me." She turned to me putting her hand on her hip with a stern look.

"I am trying. But it is not so easy."

Her eyes turned furious.

"I mean I am trying my best." I mumbled as her furious eyes started to scare me now.

"I feel so lonely here. You come twice a month and bring all the office work at home. And when you are in Delhi, you don't even have the time to breath. Such a brutal husband. I hate you." She punched my arm angrily.

She was still a kid.

I gripped her by her waist and spoke lovingly, "I am so sorry, love. But I have got a very responsible job. I can't always do what I want to."

"And what about me?"

"You?" I moved the strands of her hair behind her ear. "You are the most lousy and bossy wife ever."

"WHAT?" She grew furious.

"But I love you so much." I said kissing her and she melted in my kisses. That's what makes her so adorable. The more she gets angry, the more I love kissing her.

As I was in the middle of kissing her, the phone beeped again. Worst timing ever. It was Jaaiz again. This guy was seriously behaving like a nervous wreck now.

"Who is that killer?" Ruhi asked irritated.

"My half mad brother." I answered and picked up his call.

"Bhai I can't find a perfect pair of shoes."

"What were you doing all these days?"

"Having premarital sex." He groaned.

"Fuck off. Where are you?"

"Central mall."

For half and hour he kept debating with me wasting his time. Every time I come home, I get a break and submerge in all these family dramas. From being an officer at work to a referee at home, my life was now a balance of everything.

Life was never a smooth runway for me, but after everything I have gone through I realised that the best people in life always stay.
