Chapter 27

Drishti's POV :

I drowsily opened my eyes with a bad headache. All around me there were these filthy cockroaches and some rotten meat of I don't know what. These monstrous people kept me locked in a cage. My Maa always told me that I am as pretty as a dove, but these people were treating me like pigeons. I was dressed in my shorts and top since the last three days. I missed my Maa and home.

The place was very unfamiliar. The smell of tea leaves and morning chants of hilly tribes from the far away mountains made me figure out I was somewhere near tea gardens. I have been crying to let me go home but they won't listen.

There were two men who barged into my house the other night. One of them was a short bearded man with a star tattoo. I named him Star Trek. He was a little kind while dealing with me. Whereas the other tall guy with fair skin and big muscles was cruel. He hit me twice from yesterday. I named him Hulk. He was so wicked and cruel.

I held the bars and looked around to find nobody in the room. Wait, it was not even a room. It was like a factory probably a shut one for long. It was a scary world.

I heard somebody whisper. May be a bird. No, birds don't whisper, they perch.

Turning my head slightly, I saw a man crawling on his knees towards my cage. The dark room made it difficult for me to figure out whether he was a man or a giant spider.

I gasped when his nose suddenly entered through the bars. I stumbled on my ass and stared at him. Phew! He was a human!

He looked no familiar to Star Trek or Hulk. Maybe, they got tired of my cries and sent a new guy to guard me. But who comes crawling like that like a thief?
Unless he is actually a thief!

"Drishti, right?" He asked.

His clothes looked very decent. From every angle I looked, his brown jacket and denim did not make him look like a homeless goon. Star Trek and Hulk used to stink and they had no dressing sense whereas this new guy smells of rich perfume.

I nodded quickly.

"I am here to help you, alright?" He whispered softly, "Do you know where they keep the key to this cage?"

"Are you the police?" I asked at the moment and started missing my Maa more than anything. I wanted to cry out.

"No...I need the key...where is the key?" He asked again.

I noticed his blue eyes. This is the first time I ever saw a man with blue eyes.

"It is with Star Trek." I answered simply analysing his eyes. They shone like cat's eye in the dim light.

"What?" He grimaced.

"I mean the short guy with beard."

He turned back to see if no one entered the place and then looked at me.

"How did you get in? You don't look like Star Trek's friend." I suspiciously asked glancing at him.

"This is my factory....I mean, it was." He said trying to open the lock with his hand. "So, I know all the exit and entry ways."

"Means you are their enemy....right?" I asked him, as he continued struggling with the lock. Such a foolish man, I thought.

He glared up at me.
"You are just like your mother little girl, asking too many questions."

"You know my mother?"

He gave a half smile, "Yes I do."

"Sshhh....I can hear footsteps." I hushed and asked him to stop hitting the lock. It was very foolish and indeed his foolishness woke the sloths from sleep.

Before I could even blink, Hulk held the Blue eyed man by his collar and lifted him up. I squeezed my eyes shut at the horrific view. Only God knows what will happen to blue eyed man now!!

"Look what we have got here." Hulk laughed hanging blue eyed man on his one hand.

"Jaaiz...You?" Star Trek's jaw dropped. Looked like he already knew Blue eyed man. Pause here, Blue eyed man has got a name. Jaaiz. Unfortunately, I never heard of that name from my mother.

"From when did you switch to the kidnapping profession?" This Jaaiz guy frowned and hit Hulk with his elbow. Hulk lost his grip and started growling in pain. I did the same thing to him yesterday and got two punches on my face instead. This was going to end bad. Hulk is a ferocious monster. As I had expected, Hulk singlehandedly grabbed Jaaiz by his neck and thrashed him into a bigger cage like a dead mosquito.

Now they had two prisoners. This Jaaiz guy was so dumb. He got himself in trouble in the way to rescue me. Hulk snatched Jaaiz's cell phone and his wrist watch which looked very expensive while Star Trek stayed back to guard us.

We were kept like that for hours. My back started to ache sleeping on the rough floor. Watching Star Trek sleep so peacefully on his chair, I got angry and jealous. I was losing my patience here.

I glanced at Jaaiz and threw a hopeless look at him. He kept hitting the lock as if his hands were made of iron keys. Silly guy! Suddenly, Jaaiz threw a stone at Star Trek who opened his eyes lazily and threw an angry look at him.

He raised a brow at Jaaiz as he strolled towards his cage.

"Get me out of here." Jaaiz yelled on top of his voice but to no use.

"Stop shouting like a girl, idiot!!! Are you a fool to come here???" Star Trek scowled at Jaaiz.

I kept looking at both of them astounded.

"No....but you are!"

"You are a greater fool to come alone. Now, wait till your meat is fed to the dogs." Star Trek barked at him angrily.

"This kid has been missing since three days and my asshole brother is after me...he sent his entire force to arrest me this morning...have you got any idea??? I somehow escaped through my bathroom's window." Jaaiz hit his fist on the bar and squeaked in pain. "He is like a wounded lion right now and no matter how much I shout that I am innocent he isn't gonna listen."

Star Trek chuckled, "That's what we wanted."

"That's what Tanmay wanted, isn't it?" Jaaiz looked bitterly at him.

Star Trek shrugged."But who told you that we have kept her here?"

"I tipped Tanmay's bodyguard." Jaaiz winked.

"You are quite a manipulator.."

"I know but first release me, please." Jaaiz begged. "I promise you will be rewarded 3 times more than what Tanmay has offered you."

"I am not a fool to be tricked. Do you understand?" Star Trek yelled.

"Remember when Tanmay was going to kill you? I manipulated him and saved your life." Jaaiz said calmly. "This is your time to save mine."

I don't know what spell Jaaiz cast but Star Trek was thoughtful. Maybe Jaaiz isn't a fool.

"You are a shrewd man!" Star Trek smiled. I stared at both of them unable to make out what they were up to.

Jaaiz smirked.

Star Trek looked down at me, his eyes meeting mine and then he took out the key. My face lite up like a 100 watt bulb. He was going to release me, finally.

But then he moved to Jaaiz's cage and unlocked him. Jaaiz crawled out of the cage and hugged Star Trek like he was meeting his lost brother.

"Hey get me out...Star Trek please get me out." I screeched at him.

"What did she call me?" He asked Jaaiz, surprised at my words.

"She called you her star and she expects you to release her as well." Jaaiz explained.

Star Trek passed an amused look at me and said, "Nobody ever called me a star....not even my mother."

Shit! He was getting emotional.

"If I release you...." He wagged his eyebrows."What will I get in return, girl? Your stupid toys?"

I flinched.
"You won't get arrested. I can save your life."

"What are you? My lawyer?" Star Trek laughed.

"Trust me, I can save you if you release me. I won't take your name in front of the police. I promise. Pinky promise." I extended my little finger.

Star Trek looked at me distrustfully and I made a puppy dog face, blinking my eyes.

"I don't break my pinky promises." I reassured him, pouting my lips.

"Alright." He nodded once and turned back to Jaaiz, "If this girl opens her mouth I will see that you feed on the rats in jail."

I wanted to burst out laughing when Star Trek threatened Jaaiz. Jaaiz stood tall like a pillar and Star Trek was like a small climber. His voice tone couldn't even scar a lazy crow.

"Now we are even." Jaaiz smirked, shaking hands.

"Hit me." Star Trek ordered.

"What?"

"Just hit me, bastard! It should look as if I fought like a brave heart trying to stop you otherwise, Tanmay will sell my meat to the butcher."

"You have got smarter with experience, mate." Jaaiz smiled and laid two punches on his face.

He groaned in pain and shrieked, "That was too hard....Run now."

I felt sorry for Star Trek but before I could bid him farewell, Jaaiz grabbed my hand and dragged me out through a corridor. The place looked so haunted and bizarre.

"There are spiders. You should take care of your factory, don't you think?" I grumbled.

"Shut up." He turned back, "This is the only way to get out of here."

"Can I ask you something?"

"Hmm..."

"Did you ever see a ghost here? A scary one?" I asked curiously looking at the shinny spider webs on the corner of the walls.

"For the love of God, will you please shut up???" He shouted, but that did not scare me at all. Not even a little.

"God knows how Ruhanna handles this chatterbox!!!" He babbled to himself.

"My ears are still functioning." I commented reminding him that his whispers still reaches me. He passed me a cold look.

There was light on the other end. We reached there and he bend his body slightly from the window.

"No chances of fractures. I am going to jump first." He declared.

"What about me?"

"You will also jump." He said showing me the height.

"What if I lose my leg?" My eyes widened staring at the height.

"You will be on a wheelchair forever plus you will get a handicapped quota for government jobs...don't worry kid." He calmly replied like being on a wheelchair is not at all painful. How cold hearted this man is!

Climbing up on the window, he took a leaped over the window and fell on the ground with a bang. I heard the loud sound and took my head out of the window, closing one eye in fear. Goodness he was alive. I thought he would be dead. No wonder this man escaped through a bathroom's window.

"Jump." He ordered.

"No." I shook my head. "This is too high."

"You are too short, chatterbox." He scowled at me and extended his hand.

I started sweating as my breaths got heavier. I am so scared of heights. I know it isn't that high but for me height is height.

"Close your eyes and jump. I shall catch you." He tried to console me.

I nodded and closed my eyes. There was no other option but to trust this man with my leg. I decided in my mind to make him my slave if I lose my leg. I bit my lips, took a long breath and jumped.

The sky was blue, not black. I could see a crow as well. And the leaves on the trees above were moving. This isn't hell. I suddenly realised that I did not die after jumping down. I was alive and kicking. But I could not find Jaaiz.

Traitor! He left me and ran away.

"Get up you pig!!!!" Somebody groaned in pain.

I looked down and saw him lying like a mashed potato who is crumbled under my weight.

I stood upright immediately.

"Oh my God!!! I'm so sorry. Are you hurt?" I looked down at him worriedly.

He opened his one and yelled at me,
"I told you to jump on the ground not on my shoulders."

"I don't think you mentioned that." I made a guilty face.

He rolled his eyes as I extended my hand. He caught my hand and got up.

"Siddhant is your brother?" I asked with a rough assumption as we walked down the road. He said he knew a way which the kidnappers won't follow.

"Half brother."

"I never knew he had a half brother. Why does he think you have kidnapped me?" I asked him.

"Because he is an idiot."

"Like you?"

He passed a disgusting look.

"But he loves Maa, doesn't he ?"

"Don't you think you ask too many questions?" He winced.

"Just like my Maa?" I giggled.

"Your Maa!!" He gasped. "After I reach home I am definitely gonna give her an award for handling a chatterbox like you." He ruffled my hair.

"Not the hair." I snapped making a grumpy face.

I love Drishti and Jaaiz's arguments. They make good partners in crime. Let's see what happens next.

Stay tuned.
