Chapter 23
Siddhant's POV :
I took a shower and grabbed the red shirt Ruhanna left on the bed. It didn't matter whose shirt it was as long as it did not smell like some filthy mixture of alcohol and mud. Where the hell was I last night? African Jungles?
Perhaps, I drank too much I thought looking at my hollow eyes in the mirror. I looked like a homeless druggie. Can't blame anyone but Tanmay for this.
"Breakfast is ready." Ruhi announced.
"Where is Dhristi?" I asked looking around.
"She left for school."
Hrishav already sat on the dining with the ketchup bottle in front of him. Even Angelina Jolie doesn't look at Brad Pitt the way he was looking at the ketchup bottle. Something was definitely wrong with this guy.
"Are you opening the ketchup?" I asked Hrishav.
"No..." He raised his hand sternly. Ruhi rolled her eyes immediately. She was used to her brother's weird behavioural syndrome I guess.
A very amusing piece of art caught my attention while Ruhi was serving the parathas.
"Is that a collage statue? From where did you get it?" I asked admiring the statue of a horse. Being an art lover, I always stay back adoring every piece of art but never in my entire life have I seen such perfection.
Ruhi was about to speak, when Hrishav cut in.
"That is a piece of European art. My sister ordered it right way from Rome." Hrishav proudly stated.
"Yea...yea...Rome." Ruhi passed a cranky smile.
"This is just so perfect." I awed.
"Epitome of perfection." Hrishav added.
I took a spoonful of pasta and holy mother of hell it taste like shit!!! The pasta was still raw and salty.
"Take more na..." Ruhi was about to dump a spoonful of pasta on my plate when I shouted.
"No...this is fine. I am not so hungry."
"You don't like the pasta?" She asked making an angry face.
"Its yumm..." I had to lie.
"Is your posting here in Guwahati?" Hrishav asked chewing a mouthful of cereals.
He gave a witty smile seeing my fake smile every time time I took a spoon in my mouth. God I wanted to puke!! But she would feel horrible if I say she cooked a cow's mid-day meal for me.
No wonder why Hrishav chose cereals over pasta. As for Ruhi, she said she was on some stupid dieting. I had to finish this pasta on my own.
"Not anymore. I was working with the CID branch here...but now I have been transferred to Delhi."
"Delhi?" Ruhi asked stupefied. That was when I vaguely remembered that I forgot to tell her about my transfer.
"I got the news yesterday actually."
She made a sad face, pouting her lips. I trip over a lot of things. But the face she makes every time she is annoyed tops the list.
"So, since how long you both have been together?" Hrishav asked all of a sudden throwing suspicious glances at us.
"Together?" Ruhi looked at me.
"Considering you never tell me the truth..." Hrishav pointed the fork at Ruhi and turned his eyes to me, "Siddhant...you tell me."
"A while..." I pursed my lips.
Ruhi was about to open her mouth and knowing she would say something extremely stupid, I interrupted, "She needs time to think about the whole us thing....so you see, maybe she was not comfortable talking to you about this."
Ruhi passed me a convincing smile. I knew how to handle awkward situations like this.
"Alright..." Hrishav nodded his head.

I was waiting near the entrance door as she climbed down the stairs gloomily with my jacket in her hand.
She handed me the jacket, her eyes avoiding me throughout. She was still a child who needed to be pampered.
I kept looking at her with a smile when she finally looked at me making a stubborn face.
"I hate you..." She punched my arm playfully.
"I love you..." I narrowed my eyes at her, simply capturing the moment when she looks so pretty with her messy hair tied in a bun.
She tried hard not to smile, but she couldn't hold it back for long.
"Delhi?"
"Yeah" I sighed.
"Can't you just leave your job and start modelling?" She grunted.
I laughed out at the stupid excuses she put in front of me. For God's sake, the modelling industry will burn down my posters if I enter there with this face.
"I am a cop Ruhi...have you just seen my face? I look like I woke up from my grave today."
"I know I sound silly but all I want is for you to stay."
"Come with me..." I said, knowing I would get no for an answer.
"Don't talk crazy."
"The door is always open." I touched her cheek gently, tucking her hair behind the ear, and leaned forward to kiss her forehead.
"I hate you more now." She said after I kissed her.
"And I love you more now." I kissed her goodbye.
Woman always play the most influential role in a man's life. A stroke of pain yet she is the brightest colour of happiness.

His eyes widened seeing me at his door. I wasn't always the early morning visitor after all. Surprisingly, I am visiting his house for the first time.
"Bhai.." His blue eyes dazed at me.
"Aren't you gonna invite me in?"
"Uh...yeah...sorry. Please come in."
It is rather a shame that I never visited my brother's house until today and to my surprise his house was perfectly neat and tidy unlike mine. Looking at the unknotted tie hanging from his neck, it seemed like he was getting ready for office.
He sat down facing me, a confused look stuck on his face about I giving him a sudden visit.
"You should have called me up Bhai, I would have picked you up from your house." He said kindly.
How could anybody make out the traitor behind those kind words?
"I need to ask you something."
"Yeah, sure..."
I swallowed a lump and leaned forward looking into his eyes.
"Were you involved with Tanmay in my accident?"
His eyes widened like he saw a ghost behind me, his mouth agape.
"Tell me the truth." I added keeping my eyes on him constantly.
His hand curled to a fist, as he kept looking at me. I prayed to God for him to shout at me, get angry on me or throw that fish bowl on my face for accusing him with such falsity.
But when he finally looked away my hopes crumbled into bits and pieces. He didn't need to answer.
"So it is really true."
"Bhai...listen to me..."
"Stay away!!!" I shouted standing upright."And right from this minute, forget that you ever had a brother. I did every possible fucking thing for you and what did I get from you? Lies, conspiracies and betrayal!!!!"
"I know this is my fault....but please give me a chance to make it right."
"I don't give chances to back stabbers." I said, meaning every word from my heart.
He apologetically looked up at me and then looked down. Standing him for another minute might lead to worst consequences leading one of us with two or three broken ribs. And I didn't want to land up in a hospital again. So, better I walked out silently without arguing any more. I had this habit of not laying my trust on outsiders which is why I came to Jaaiz after realising that trusting Tanmay was not the best choice. And now, I am leaving his house with the bitter truth that he is worse than Tanmay. This is what I hate about my life. My own blood never leaves a stone unturned to hurt me.

Instead of entering my house, I straightway drove to office. As soon as I entered the building, the watchman greeted me warmly and rushed inside the building announcing about my arrival.
"Siddhant Sir is here..." Sanjay shouted in the office grabbing everybody's attention. During my leave, all my staff and colleagues visited my house showering their prayers and love. Not in this life can I forget these loving people!
"Sir...your leave is still not over...you should have stayed at home." One of my staff member suggested.
"I had to see the transfer letter."
Their face dropped instantly when Mukesh uttered, "Sir, I got the files."
"Yeah. I am coming to that."
I signalled Mukesh to come to my cabin. As I had asked him, he kept the court judgement files of Tanmay and the CCTV footage of the accident night ready on my table. While I was scrounging through the files, he handed me my transfer letter.
Taking a deep breath, I opened it. The ravaging anger grew with every word I read. The joining date was 7 days later. This was all a conspiracy against me and I had to unmask the culprits with valid proof.
"Sir, can't you do something requesting the government for your stay order?" Mukesh said as I kept the letter, a sorrowful look on my face.
A sad smile crept across my lips.
"It's not easy. The order has already passed without my knowledge."
After he left the cabin, I went through the CCTV footage. My car crashed against the divider and tumbled upside down. I got goosebumps witnessing the kind of accident which I only watch in movies.
How the hell on earth I survived that?
It was hard to believe that I am still alive and breathing. Although I rarely pray to God, that day I naturally took
Allah's name.
It was when it hit me that I wasn't a Muslim actually. I was a Hindu who grew up preaching Islam. Which God should I pray now? I still go to Masjid and celebrate Id. I read the Quran and take Allah's name every time I am caught in a dilemma.
Out of everything my mother did, I had to thank her for making me believe that there is only one God. She says religions are just a way of naming that one God differently. I got the answer to my question.
My car remained like that for 10 minutes. I could see my hand coated in blood out of the window. I remember that excruciating pain in my head. It is still so raw and painful. I get nightmares. The fear for your life can't be described unless you experience it. While I was lying there almost half dead, a car stopped near me and a person rushed towards my wrecked car. It had to be the same person who took me to the hospital. His back was facing the camera. Damn it! I need to see this person's face. He rushed to my car, pulling my body out. I had lost my senses till then.
His shirt was completely soaked in my blood as he picked me up in his arms and shifted me into his car. I paused the video when his face was finally caught in the camera. My sweaty hands zoomed it till I could see it clearly. The earth literally slipped below my feet when I recognised that face.

Time for some action.
Anyway, hope you liked this one.
Siddhant knows about what Jaaiz did and he is so furious. But I still think he can be a model. I find him rather very hot *drools*
