Chapter 22
Ruhanna's POV :
He followed me upstairs to my room trying not to make any noise as my brother and Drishti were asleep. He quietly waited near me till I made the bed for him.
"You can sleep here. I shall sleep downstairs." I said adjusting the pillow on the bed.
I turned back and Siddhant dropped on his knees abruptly, his face completely blank. He was drunk and I know he never gets drunk without any reason. Something had to be wrong.
Kneeling down he lifted his chin up, his eyes started to well up as he kept looking at me. I worriedly rushed to him and he wrapped his arms around my waist, resting his head on my hips. I kept stroking his hair drenched in sweat. His body was perspiring as he kept sobbing for long grabbing me like that.
"What's wrong Siddhant?" I asked caressing his hair.
He did not answer instead held me tighter. He was still in tears. I had never seen him weep like that, like a small baby. Perhaps the alcohol was responsible for intensifying his emotions.
"Come on...get up and talk to me...okay?" I wiped his tears slowly.
He nodded.
I helped him take off his leather jacket and shoes as he sat on the bed occupied in his own space of thoughts. His face looked tired and weary. He wasn't even moving.
I sat near him and kept my hand on his thigh. Even then, he did not respond and kept sitting like a statue. I wanted to help him lest he provided me with what was hurting him.
"Siddhant..." I turned his face towards me. Those beautiful eyes were so worn out. They were hollow and exhausted.
He did not blink.
"What is wrong Sid?" I grabbed his shoulder in concern.
"This hurts...please make it go away." He squeezed his eyes shut as tears rolled down his cheek. My heart ached witnessing his vulnerable side.
Immediately I hugged him tight. I could smell the alcohol in his shirt as I kept running my fingers through his hair, trying to console him.
"Calm down...and tell me what has happened..."
He lifted his chin off my shoulder. His eyes were bloodshot and drunk.
"I feel so lonely and betrayed..." He perched lowering his head.
"Betrayed? Why?"
He rubbed his face, crossing his legs on my bed.
"My entire life I have given up everything for the people I love....Haven't I?"
I nodded.
"I gave up my teenage life, my love life, my desires everything. I am the one who is always forced to understand people yet nobody understands me." His deep voice carried the weight of a thousand years pain.
"I do." I kept my hand over his.
He looked down at my hand, and held it tight. I never saw him so scared.
"I worked night shifts at restaurants just to pay my brother's school fees, I sold away my favourite pair of shoes just to get him his Economics text books. I did every possible thing Ruhanna. Where did I miss out, tell me...?"
"You worked at restaurants?" My mouth was wide open. Back then, a few of my classmates told me they spotted Siddhant in working in a restaurant, but he denied the fact when I asked him. And his favourite pair of shoes, that was the one I gifted him on his birthday and he said he lost it in the Masjid. I never imagined for him to sell it.
"I'm sorry I could never tell you all these...your life was a happy life Ruhanna. You never needed to worry about finance while growing up. Mine was different."
This man, sitting right in front of me has consumed so much pain silently without letting anybody know about it. People need to be extremely strong to keep their pain to themselves.
"What did Jaaiz do?"
"Things out of your believe and imagination." He replied looking me in the eye, those mesmerising eyes.
"I want to know." I confessed.
"I don't want to tell you....you will get hurt..."
"I have experienced pain closer than ever."
"Damn it Ruhi...why are so stubborn!!" His voice raised. I prayed he doesn't wake up anybody in the house.
"Tell me..." I rebelled angrily. I hate when people keep things in suspense.
"Shut up..."
"I won't unless you tell me..."
"I said just shut up." He passed me that fierce look. Siddhant and I were locked in a furious glance.
"This is not fair....you tell me there is something then you don't tell me what is in your mind...why can't you..."
My words were left hanging in the air when suddenly, he locked his lips against mine forcefully till my mouth had shut and I started equally responding to his kiss. My hands were running on his back, clawing him so tight as he kept kissing me with an intense passion. His lips tasted like wine and I was drunk in them.
"I hate you for doing this..." I whispered as he pushed me back on the bed, kissing the curve of my neck. I could not but moan at the immense pleasure he gave me with every passing second.
"You talk a lot. I needed to shut your mouth..." He said biting my earlobe.
"This is an illegal way to shut my mouth officer..."
"I am illegal in bed, sweetheart."
"You are drunk."
"You are sober and you aren't stopping me." He smiled mischievously running his cold fingers on my stomach.
"You have got so many bruises..." He analytically looked on my bare abdomen, as if he discovered something for the first time.
"Those are called delivery stitch marks idiot." I laughed looking at his dumbfounded face.
He innocently glanced up at me, "Yeah...Sana told me about them. She said they hurt initially."
"Yes they do."
"I wish I had taken better care of her." His face dropped sad, "I sometimes hate myself, my job and everything."
He laid down near me, his eyes sparkling in tears, they wanted to flow out as they sung a lullaby of brokenness. How could he smile everyday despite carrying so much guilt on his shoulders?
We all have our own guilts and regrets. But there is no use of guilt in a life which has so much to offer. If not once, we can try twice or thrice.
I kissed his tears and my lips sauntered to his cheek, kissing them gently. He looked at me with a sad smile.
I closed my eyes and kissed him harder, with the kind of ecstasy which never flew out of my soul. I could feel his chest rising up and down. He grabbed my hair wildly, and tossed me over the bed aggressively, his muscular physique covering my body completely.
"I hope one day I wake up right next to you and you kiss my broken soul with the assurance that there will be a tomorrow for us."
I kept observing his lips as they moved in a rhythm while he spoke. I bit my lips glaring at his strong muscles and that fine jawline which could make any girl lure over him. I found him rather sexy in his ruffled hair and that dark blue shirt unbuttoned for me to clearly see his abs.
"You should start modelling." I mumbled.
"WHAT????" His sad eyes widened to the size of saucers.
"N-n-nothing..."
"Modelling? Seriously? Do you know the meaning of a cop?" He asked completely stunned.
"I ain't so raw with English vocabulary." I winced. "Are you doubting my skills?"
"I guess you are doubting my skills."
"Really??" I arched a brow.
He smiled softly at me and frantically started moving his lips over my neck. I couldn't stop giggling as he started drawing circles on my navel with his finger.
"I don't doubt your skills..." I chuckled as he kept tickling my neck with his lips.
Finally he stopped giving me those laughter vibes and tossed me over his body. I was lying above him half naked and he was well, half naked.
"You smell like alcohol." I grimaced as he locked my legs with his, grabbing my waist.
"Yet you are kissing me and wanting me to kiss you more...and do more than just kisses."
I blushed pink, hiding my glance away.
"Shut up you drunkard." I punched his arm playfully and suddenly remembered that he skipped my main question. "I want to know what Jaaiz did."
"Urrgghh....Not again." He rolled his eyes, "Why are you so determined in destroying my mood?"
"I want to know..." I demanded.
"Not now." He said and pressed his lips on mine.

I woke up in Siddhant's arm, feeling the warmth of his body against mine. He was sound asleep. I kissed his forehead gently, careful enough not to wake him up and quickly dressed up in my nightdress, tiptoeing downstairs before anyone woke up in the house.
And horror of horrors, I bumped into my brother early morning while snooping in my own house.
"Oouch...What are you? A thief?" Hrishav scowled at me pressing his nose. I can't say my head didn't hurt while bumping onto his nose.
"Sorry I didn't see you..."
It was 5 a.m and he never wakes up so early. Oh I forgot! Bad luck never leaves my radius.
"If you can't see a 6 feet tall man trust me you are blind. Go get an eye specialist." He snorted and walked upstairs.
No sooner did I realise that I left my door half open with none other than Siddhant sleeping on my bed, I ran upstairs and reached my door faster than Hrishav.
"Why are you running in the house?" He asked standing outside my room. Don't enter my room Hrishav! That's all I could pray.
"Exercise...."
"I needed your printer actually." He said almost about to open the door, extending his long neck.
"Noooo..." I squealed. I lied to him all the time about Siddhant. I told him he is just a Hi-Hello friend. If he finds him lying on my bed I will be caught in a big embarrassment.
"Hey! I can see a shirt on the floor."
"That's mine. I am getting the printer. You stand here and do not move."
I walked inside. Siddhant was sound asleep. I took the printer and turned back to find Hrishav in my room. My breath literally stopped. Hrishav leaned forward, observing Siddhant closely who was in a deep slumber.
All of a sudden Siddhant opened his eyes screaming on top of his voice to find Hrishav's eyes boggling at him like an owl, his face with a two inch gap from Siddhant
"What the fuck?????" Siddhant tossed up on the bed pulling the bed sheet terrorized.
Hrishav stepped back. I couldn't stop cursing myself.
"What the fuck????" Hrishav glared at me instantly.
"He was sleeping..." I gave an embarrassed smile looking at Hrishav. This whole awkwardness could have been avoided if I had been a little careful.
"I can see that." He rolled his eyes at me. Then turning to Siddhant he apologised, "Sorry man! I didn't mean to scare you. Lately my sister has been too secretive. But I am happy for you guys." Patting him on the back, Hrishav walked out of my room passing me a cold vengeful look.
"Happy for us? Is there something wrong with him?" Siddhant skeptically asked looking at his naked body, "Wait how did I reach here? Where are my clothes?"
"Go and get fresh idiot." I threw the shirt and jeans on his face and went downstairs.
