Chapter 3: An Unconscious Fairy
-No One's P.O.V-
A week has passed since you got Isekai'ed, you've been getting along with Ricca, Miria, and the villagers in the West Mountains just fine and formed a bit of bond to build up the relationship.
Throughout one week, you got yourself a new job which is working at the general store where Ricca works at. Plus, you also continued your kendo, martial arts, and archery training so you could be able to fend off any kind of monsters that the era you were currently living on.
So right now, you were relaxing on Ricca's bed until you overhear the conversation with Miria and Ricca.
Miria: I'm sorry to trouble you. The customers really like the herbs served with our dishes...
Ricca: Okay, so you want me to get the same kinds as last time?
Miria: That would be great...Um, Ricca, the mountains have...
Ricca: I know, I know. I'll be careful not to trip, and I'll come back right away if see any monsters.
Miria: Okay...as long as you understand. But I'm worried. A girl like you shouldn't be running around like a tomboy in patched clothes...
Ricca: (T-Tomboy...? Did she find out about how I beat up those slimes the other day!?)
Miria: Honestly, I think I should let (Y/N) go with you.
Ricca: M-Miria, no need for that! I can handle myself just fine!
Ricca exclaims as Miria lets out a deep sigh.
Miria: If you say so.
Ricca: Anyway, are you working at the dining hall again in the afternoon today?
Miria: Oh, actually, I'm not. I have a day off, so I'm thinking of cleaning the church until evening.
Ricca: Okay. What do you have for dinner?
Miria: I'll have some bean soup and bread ready with a side of tomato salad.
Ricca: Hmm...Soup, bread, and tomato salad...Huh!? What?! Tomato salad!?
Miria: The merchant's wife game a bunch yesterday, we need to eat them before they spoil.
Ricca: Couldn't you put them in the soup? You know I don't like raw tomatoes...
Miria: I do, but you shouldn't be a picky eater. I've already prepared the beans, so give me the raw tomatoes a try, okay? You might find out you actually like them. I mean, (Y/N) really liked them too when he asked me to make them.
That's when Ricca started fake crying in front of her older sister.
Ricca: No way...*sniff*...I think tomato soup would be better...Tomatoes have slimy stuff around their seeds...Urk...*sniff*.
Miria: *Sigh* Fake crying isn't going to work on me. It's about time you stopped being a picky eater.
(Y/N): She's not wrong though.
You said, barging into the conversation.
Ricca: (Y-Y/N)! Were you listening to our conversation?
(Y/N): Heh, yeah. Anyway, Miria's right though, kids like us can be picky eaters at times, but when you become a teenager, you oughta learn how to accept and eat types of cuisine nowadays.
You said, giving her advice as Miria had an agreed expression on her face.
Miria: Thank you.
Ricca: (Y/N)...not you too...
(Y/N): Come on, buddy. It's not so bad eating tomato salad, you gotta try to eat it once, and you'll like it. It's like killing two birds with one stone!
Ricca thinks for a moment before letting out a sigh of defeat.
Ricca: Okay...I will.
(Y/N): That's good. Now you can head off to work now. See you when you get back home, okay?
Ricca: Okay.
And just like that, Ricca left the house and went off to pick the herbs in the mountains.
Miria: Whew...thanks for giving Ricca that advice, (Y/N)
(Y/N): Don't mention it. Although...I sometimes think that Ricca needs to grow up often. Miria, I'm sure you are aware that she can't be like this forever, you know?
Miria: I know, but I'm still worried to give her independence, it's quite hard for me to just ignore it.
(Y/N): You'll get through soon enough that Ricca will take care of herself once she learns how to live a life on her own with a husband, and then she'll be grateful to you for taking care of her later on in the future.
Miria: Hmm...I guess you're right. I feel like you're a wise person, (Y/N).
(Y/N): Hehe, I sure am.
You said with a smile on your face.
Miria: Although...
(Y/N): Hm?
Miria: I sometimes think that you'd be a good husband for Ricca, (Y/N).
(Y/N): Wait, me?
You asked with a surprised face.
Miria: Yup, the way how you two get along with each other just fine, it's as if you two were best friends...But I see more than that, you two were like a couple and the people of this village think of that as well.
(Y/N): What?! Jeez, it's like spreading a rumor!
You said with a flustered look on your face as Miria giggled at your reaction.
Miria: Anyway, shouldn't you be at work by now?
(Y/N): Oh yeah. The merchant told me yesterday that I'll be having a day off since I've been working hard nowadays.
Miria: Oh, I see. What will you be doing now? You could help me clean up the church if you wish.
(Y/N): Nah, I'm just going to hunt some monsters.
Miria: Oh, just be careful, okay?
(Y/N): I've been training a lot so you don't have to worry about me.
Miria: If you say so. Good luck out there.
You nodded as you grabbed your bow, arrows, and your sword as you left Miria and Ricca's house to slay some monsters around.
-With Ricca-
Back with Ricca, we see her collecting herbs in the mountain as usual.
Ricca: *Sigh* Tomato salad for dinner, huh...No, I'm sure Miria will make soup instead. Maybe saying I wasn't going to talk to her was a little childish...I'll apologize to her when I get home...
Ricca says to herself as she collected enough herbs and stood up.
Ricca: Alright...This should be enough herbs for Miria.
Suddenly, Ricca hears the sound of the church bell ringing from her village.
Ricca: Huh...? Is that the church bell...? I think it's ringing earlier than it usually does. The sky isn't even dark yet. Hmm...I'll worry Miria if I come back home late. I don't want her to nag at me either...I better head back soon. But thank goodness I didn't see any slimes today. Anyway, I should start heading home.
-With (Y/N)-
Back to you, you finished hunting down a few slimes around the area near the village. You happen to coincidentally walk back home after hearing the bell ringing early.
(Y/N): That's odd. Usually, the bell rings when nightfall occurs, but why would it ring early?
You questioned as you continued to talk to yourself.
(Y/N): Strange...the monsters have been less active today and I couldn't find some monsters to kill. What the heck is going on right now? Hmm...something's not right...
You questioned as you continued walking back to the village.
-With Ricca-
Back to Ricca, she continued walking back home until she sees a familiar white dog running in front of her.
Ricca: Polon? What are you doing here...? Heehee, woof woof!
Suddenly, Polon started hauling off in another direction which confused Ricca.
Ricca: Whoa!? Where are you going!? Be careful, there could be slimes around here!
Ricca says as she follows where Polon went.
...
It didn't take long for Ricca to find Polon because she hears it barking in whining somewhere.
Ricca: Hey, you shouldn't run off like that, Polon...
Suddenly, Ricca sees something shocking that Polon had found.
Ricca: Whoa!
What Polon found was an unconscious small blue long-haired female fairy who was holding what seemed to be a flower brooch.
Polon whines in a sad tone as Ricca kneels to the fairy and checks on her.
Ricca: It's...a brooch and a doll of a little girl...Wow, her skin and hair are so well made...She's pretty too...What's this on her back? Wings...? She looks like those fairies I saw in my book.
The fairy didn't respond and Ricca took notice of the Fairy's chest size.
Ricca: Oh, for a little doll, her breasts are big. They might be as big as Miria's if she was human-sized...
Ricca then looks at her own breasts and said...
Ricca: I-I mean, I think my breasts are pretty big too...! I'm sure they'll grow more! I'm Miria's sister, after all! If I just eat more, they'll get bigger in no time. However...
A small blush forms on Ricca's cheeks.
Ricca: What would (Y/N) think of it though? Does he prefer small or big ones? ...Hey, what am I even talking about? Hehehe...
Polon: Woof?
Ricca: Hm?
Ricca then picks up the doll and examines it closely.
Ricca: A brooch and a doll...I wonder if someone dropped them. But people rarely come this way...Well, if a traveler dropped this, I bet he'll stop by at the village, so it's fine if I take these back with me for now, right? Hmm...this fairy doll is cute, but a little too risque...it would be kinda awkward to use her as an ornament in the house...After I make up with Miria, I'll ask her to teach me how to make a little dress for her.
Ricca pauses for a moment and recalls the events that happened a few days ago.
Ricca: A lot of strange things have happened lately...A bunch of slimes appeared, magical letters written in light came out of nowhere, a cute boy who came from the 21st century in the future, and now I find a brooch and a doll. Maybe it has something to do with how the monsters are getting restless...No, probably just a coincidence. Maybe I'm turning into a worrywart like Miria...Heehee. "Ricca, you be careful in the mountains..." Teehee...
Suddenly, Ricca and Polon hear the fairy "doll" groaning in her sleep unexpectedly.
Fairy's Puppet?: Ugh...Urk...
Ricca: Huh?
Polon: Woof! Woof!
Ricca then looks at the fairy and notices that it was moving slightly as if it was alive.
Fairy's Puppet?: Ngh...Nhh...
The fairy groaned which shocked Ricca.
Ricca: It...it moved!? Is this...a real fairy...!? I've never seen one before...I heard that some freak shows in the capital have them though.
Fairy: Mm...mon...ster...look...ing for...knigh...t...
The fairy murmurs with a painful expression.
Ricca: She spoke! W-Wait, did that scream I heard before coming from this fairy...?
Fairy: Haa...haa...
Ricca: (She looks like she's in pain...) H-Hey...Miss Fairy, are you okay?
The fairy had no response.
Ricca: Miss Fairy...?
And again, no response.
Ricca: She's...not dead. It's faint, but she's still breathing. Miss Fairy, are you asleep? Hello...? Are you hurt anywhere? Are you sick?
Ricca asked, but then again for the third time, there was no response from the fairy, and this made Ricca freaked out.
Ricca: What do I do!? If I leave her here, she might get eaten by an animal or a slime...
Ricca says in a panic until Polon sees a familiar face behind Ricca and starts running to that person.
Ricca: P-Polon, wait!
Ricca turns back and sees you who appeared from behind as you started to pet Polon in the head.
(Y/N): Hey there, buddy. You doing good, yeah?
Polon: Bark! Bark!
Polon barked happily.
Ricca: (Y/N)?
(Y/N): Ah Ricca, I knew I heard something.
Ricca: What are you doing here?
(Y/N): I was heading back home after I heard the bell ring early. I also heard you were freaking about something and heard Polon barking. You?
Ricca: I did my work as usual and heard the bell ring as well.
(Y/N): A coincidence huh? Say, what were you freaked out? Did you find something?
Ricca: Y-Yeah, take a look at this.
Ricca then stands up and turns around and shows you the unconscious fairy in Ricca's hands.
(Y/N): Holy crap, is that a fairy?!
Ricca: Yeah. At first, I thought it was a realistic doll, but it turned out to be a real fairy.
(Y/N): Is she okay?
Ricca: Well, her breathing is faint. So I thought I could just take her to the village and see what we can do because I can't leave her out here in the open.
(Y/N): Hmm...yeah. I guess that's a good idea. Come on, put her in the basket and head back to the village.
Ricca: Right.
-With Miria-
Back at the West Village's Church, we see Miria praying and kneeling on the floor.
Miria: Father, Mother...God...If my existence is holding Ricca back, then...I don't care what happens to me...Please grant me a trial...
While Miria was praying, she was unaware that small green figures appeared behind her at the entrance of the church.
...
(A/N: That's that! Stay tuned for more!)
