The Lost Queen
You follow Gene into the cemetery. He walks to the largest gravestone in the cemetery, rose vines wrap around the tombstone, and a lemon tree grows on each side. Gene sits in front of the tombstone. He speaks softly, quietly, sadly, as if his noise would disturb the dead.
"How you been Sour?" He asks, sitting down, "it's been, what, three years since you... ended it? It should've been me you know. If I had only pulled the trigger like they asked. You'd still be here... as my queen. Well, nah, that's not quite right. I'd be dead. If I had only ended it there. You'd still exsist, and my brother..."
You step on a branch. Gene looks your way.
"I've learned things Reaper," he smirks, "About rewriting things. You remember the Stones of Destruction and Salvation? I destroyed them. Using their magic, and at the cost of my old ablities, I learned something new. How to make my story a game. So, let's roll the dice."
Gene summons a magical twenty sided die in his hand. He tosses it into the air, rolling low with a seven. He sighs as he fires an arcane bolt that misses you by inches. Two more steps to the left, and you'd be nothing but ash. Crows flee into the smog filled sky, flying past your face.
"Just a bird," Gene sighs. He sits back down.
"Reaper," he sighs, "he's the one that did this. If he hadn't told them the truth I'd..."
Gene begins the cry, he touches the tombstone.
"When they learned about me, they snapped," he continues, "they're back now, and I'm afraid. Afraid they'll take the last thing I have. They already took you and... I can't lose anyone else. I will avenge you, Sour. Until that day... I will not rest. I will follow in my brother's footsteps. I'll write. Farewell, my queen."
Gene leaves towards his castle, leaving behind his notebook. That notebook intrigues you, but it may not be the best idea to bite off more than you can chew...
