Chapter One
I stare out the carriages window, truth to his word, father had sent me very early in the morning. I didn't even have any breakfast!
"I'm so sleepy..."I groan.
"You could rest on my shoulder.."Loke says with a bright smile. My insides quake at his beauty.
"I-I couldn't possibly do that!"I exclaim, the tips of my ears burning. I could picture us...my loyal guard Loke...kissing....
This is too much!! I grasp my cheeks, I felt as if they'd melt off! My mind swirled as Loke touched my forehead.
"You don't have a fever do you...?"He murmurs quietly. His face so close to mine.
"This is heaven..."I feel something trickle down my nose.
"Your nose is bleeding. Here."He pressures a handkerchief onto my nose.
I could see the stars illuminating his background, he was an angel. I had known that since we were kids. He had always taken care of me, from the moment I was born. I couldn't remember a day where he wasn't present.
"Loke..."I jolt into my senses. I was marrying someone else! You need to behave like a woman! "I'm sorry..."I sigh and grasp the handkerchief into my hand.
He sits back on the seat in front of mine. Confused. "Eh? Why's that Princess?"
Princess...He called me Princess!! It actually wasn't very new, he had called me Princess since I could remember. But it never failed to fluster me, I loved when he called me Princess...
"We promised to marry when we got older..."I mutter. It was something I had been waiting on with angst, the day I could be swept by him, and taken away from this cruel place. But it didn't really matter where I went, as long as he was with me.
"Oh..."He laughs. A faint blush coating his cheeks. My eyes widen as his flustered state. He was a work of art! "That was nine years ago, Princess. It was just a foolish dream."
My eyes close slightly. A foolish dream? That's all it had been to him? "A foolish dream?"I give him a small smile, it was probably the fakest smile I had ever managed to muster, when all I wanted to do was crawl up and bawl my eyes out. He was my Prince Charming. I had loved him since I could remember. "Right..."
"A guard and noble?"Loke muses. "That's not right. You deserve someone who's status is as high as yours, Princess."
"Is that all everyone thinks of? Status?"I question softly. I look down at my clenched fist. "I don't think that's fair at all..."
"Princess?"Loke looks at me surprised. "Don't tell me you have been considering that for even a second..."He laughs lightly. Though no humor is present. "I wouldn't ever allow for you to marry someone like me. I can't give you the world you deserve."
"And what if I have?"I glare at him, feeling as though he was making fun of my feelings. How couldn't I fall in love with someone who had always taken care of me!
"Don't say such silly things while you are on your way to your future husband. That's not fair at all to him..."He ruffles my hair.
"I do not wish to marry him. I'd rather die than marry him! I don't even know him!"I look away and swat his hand.
"You haven't even met him yet..give him a chance before you make up your mind..ne?"He smiles gently.
"B-But I don't want to meet anyone else! I made up my mind years ago! The moment you asked me to marry you when we were younger!"Tears brimming. I didn't think I'd declare myself so easily after such a long time. After all, Loke had quite the reputation of being a major play boy. But we were nothing, so I couldn't hold that against him.
"Princess,"He takes my gloved hand in his hands. "I am honored that you like someone like me...but...I can't return your feelings. Sure, those years ago I might have felt something for you. But I...I have met someone. And it's not fair for me to let this conversation go on. So I ask of you, to let it go."
Someone...? Met someone...? When did this happen...? I feel my body drain from any blood I had. My heart breaking, I felt my mind swirl yet again as I pictured a much more beautiful woman next to him. Raging jealousy pouring into my being. My mood darkens, someone had stole my precious Loke right under my nose...
"Who is this woman you speak of?"I ask, a sweet smile taking over my features. Though I must have looked crazed by the way he sweat dropped and scratched his head nervously.
"Her name is Kiyoko..."He says.
"May I ask what she is like..?"I felt my heart clench, I was clearly missing something! For him to choose someone else! We could run away! We could go across seas, into a different continent where no one would know of us. Where no one would know of Lucielle Heartfilia. Where we could be ourselves!
"Well, she is a humorous woman. Not quite satisfied with her looks, but I think she is beautiful. She is intelligent, she could become someone great and known on her own behalf someday...Let's see...What else..? Her laugh can be heard from any other neighboring City. She prefers being alone most of the time. And she hates being bossed around! She's very kind to everyone around her. That's what I like especially about her, her kindness knows no bounds. Once she puts her mind onto something, she'll do anything to get it. I have never met a woman quite like her, ever since I met her. I think I just instantly fell in love with her..."He murmurs, his eyes shining as he spoke of her.
"She sounds like a amazing woman.."I say, even as my throat constricted. Even as my heart burned in agony. Even as my eyes burned, ready to overflow with tears. "She is a very lucky woman then!"
"No, I think I am the lucky one. To have met someone like her has been a pleasure."His eyebrows narrowing. "Without her, I don't think life would look as bright as it does now."
"I wish you both the best."I grin. Way to go Lucy. Your acting skills might just beat Lucky's. "I just hope I can say the same about my future husband when we see each other again!"
"Mm,"He nods. "I will be waiting for you confirmation on him. I promise to give him a beating if he ever does you wrong."He says darkly. His eyes glowing red.
"E-Eh! I don't think that will be necessary!"I exclaim nervously. "Father wouldn't have sent me off that carelessly if he didn't at least trust the royal family one bit."
"I guess you're right."He sighs. "I wish you the best of the best. Kami known you deserve it all. Even if you're a lazy woman."
"Oi!"I slap his head upside down.
"Ow!"He yelps. "You're a brute!"
"You don't say those things to a woman!"
The carriage stops. I sit up right and look out the window. The royal capital's walls were huge, those rumors did them no justice.
"We have arrived, Lady Lucy!"
"I-I have never been to the royal capital, Loke!"I say nervously as I pat away the excess sweat from my forehead. Was it too hot in here!?
"You'll be alright, Princess."He pats my head and grabs my hand. "Come on. Lets get you to your King."
"He's not my King!"I flare my nostrils angrily. Loke grabs my luggage and carries it over to the giant steel gate. The steel gate shone viciously as the sun glinted at it.
"Hold it right there!"Royal Guard point their weapons at us.
"I don't think such violence is necessary."Loke mutters, his mood dropping. He stared down at them, his eyes darkened.
"S-State your name and business in the Royal Capital!"Apparently the leader stuttered.
I felt smug as Loke put them in place quickly. That should teach them! "Lucielle Heartfilia, I have been summoned by your King."
They immediately drop their stance, they now their heads quickly. "Please forgive our rudeness. We were told you'd be arriving tomorrow."
"We took the shortest route. Thanks to our rail roads we managed to travel much faster."I say, letting their sudden fear get to me. I felt powerful, I giggle into my hand.
"This is amazing..."Perhaps brings the King's wife wouldn't be so bad after all.
"You scare me sometimes, Princess..."Loke mutters.
"Shut up!"I jut my chin away from him and glare at the Royal Guards. "Well, which one of you is going to carry my luggage!?"
That should teach them to never point their weapons at me again! Perhaps I couldn't enjoy this paper of being a villain! I grin internally.
"I-I will carry it, Lady Lucy!"The leader says.
"I believe it's 'Your Highness', now..."I say. "You should go back now, Loke..."I grin. "I'll be just fine!"I hug him tightly. I was ready to dress into much more comfier clothing!
"Take care, Princess."He says and kisses my forehead. Blood rushes to my cheeks, so much for trying to forget about him!
Pull it together! You're about to meet your husband!
"Take care, Loke."I say and turn away quickly. "Let's get going, whatever you name is! Show me to my personal chambers!"
"Ri-right away, Lady—."
"It's 'Your Highness'!"I say and follow after them, into the gate.
_______
"So much for your kindness knowing no bounds..."Loke chuckles after the blonde leaves. "Let's get going, Capricorn."
"Right away, Loke-sama."
"I have been very fortunate to meet you, Lucy."Loke muses to himself as they begin their journey back to the Heartfilia Manor.
______
"Eh!!! This is ten times the size of our mansion!!"I shriek as we stood in front of the castle.
"Well, it is where the Royal Family stays.."Says Droy, one of the Royal Guards, smugly.
"I guess this will be where I will be staying as well then..."I mutter. I didn't like it.
I didn't like it one bit.
"I'll take my own luggage."I say. I take my luggage forcefully from the guards hand. "Where will my resting chamber be?"
"Wait! A woman shouldn't be carrying her own luggage!"He says as he follows me. There are two more guards waiting at the front door. The doors were unnecessarily gigantic.
"State your name and business!!"They exclaim and once again, I am being pointed by sharp weapons.
Is this really necessary? Well...how insensitive of me. The King and Queen have just been murdered a little over a month ago. Of course they'd need to be on guard with the new King.
"She's Lucielle Heartfilia!"Droy pants as he catches up. I honestly didn't know why they put him as a guard.
"Lu-Lucielle Heartfilia!? I'm deeply sorry! I hope you can forgive us!"The guard bows and they put their weapons away.
"Sure."I deadpan. I was ready to go back home, even if annoying little Lucky was there. I was not ready. I am not ready to be a wife!!! I cry internally. But I wouldn't let it show, I had to be wary in this new place.
"Re-Really? Wow. You're very kind, just like the rumors say—."
"Show me to my room, I wish to sleep."I brush past them, into the Castle without much thought. All I wanted was to sleep, and to stuff my face with food. And to read my novels. Perhaps I could finish my own..
"Wa-Wait! Lady Lucy!"
I grumble as I pull the heavy cart of luggage, this stupid gown! I needed to rid of it! I pull harder, unintentionally yanking on it wayyy harder. Causing it to break...
All I see is the floor, I expect to eat a load of dust, but I find myself falling onto cushioned small arms.
"Careful there, beautiful lady!"
I blink twice, confused as to why I hadn't face planted. The smell of dirt and humidity reaching my nostrils. I look up to the gentle young face of a boy. His pink hair spiked up all over the place. His face dirty, but it was clearly visible he had acquired a handsome charm.
His large onyx eyes staring into me. His face reddens, he scrambles up to his feet. This time I do meet the cold harsh floor.
"Ow..."I whine and grab my nose.
"I'm sorry!"He says and nears me.
"Lady Lucy!"
Droy pants and helps me up. "Don't run off like that!"
"You're Lucielle?"The boy questions.
"Lord Natsu!"They all bow immediately, forgetting about me.
"Lord Natsu?"I question.
"You must onii-san's future wife then..."Natsu smiles. "It's a pleasure to meet you. Onee-san."
He grasps my hand in his much smaller ones. He must be at least twelve! His cute face!
"Kawaii!"I sniffle and hold onto his cheeks. "You're so adorable!!"
"Lord Natsu!!"Droy tries pulling me away from him.
"It's alright, Droy.."Natsu says. He grabs my wrists and pulls my hands away from his face. "Onii-san doesn't like waiting..I shall take her to the audience chamber!"
"Bu-But Lord Natsu!"
"It's fine Droy. You can head back now!"Natsu grins. Droy nods, leaving without question after that.
"So you're a Prince Natsu-sama?"I ask quietly. Droy has taken my art of luggage to what I assumed was my room.
"Yes. But I prefer being called Lord Natsu!"He grins even wider. "It's much cooler than onii-san's!"
"Is that so..?"I smile. His confident attitude was contagious. He grabbed my hand in his warm soft ones.
"I didn't expect you to be so beautiful, Lucy."
The way his eyes didn't reflect that of a child's, made my heart flutter as he said my name. What was wrong with me!?
