Chapter 49: My Remedy

Jungkook longed to kiss Jimin, his mouth caved open but he couldn't push himself to become so passionate at a time like this. He bit his lip and looked away as he continued to circulate around the omega. His presence was beginning to pull away but his body remained standing right by Jimin. This alone left the royal court to whisper and look at the king as he stood there longer.

"Jungkook, you idiot... get out of there!" Yoongi thought and kept his eyes locked onto the two. "How embarrassing..."

"How could I?" Jimin thought and felt as if they stood alone in the courtyard. "How could I put my needs before yours? How could I harm you like this? Look at you, standing next to me like you don't have a hole in your chest... it's all because you had patience and waited for my word... you were so fair. It's all my fault. I'm the reason why you were hurt and I was so blind to see that."

As Jimin stood silently, tears began to fall from his face. The king wished to dry them with gentle kisses, but he wasn't allowed to touch the omega unless he wanted an instant ceremonial wedding. Making the decision on his own wasn't going to help them at all. Through Jimin, he learned that too much power could make someone lose their mind and become greedy. The young king himself knew better than to let this repeat itself. So, he finally decided to walk away from Jimin. Not wanting to force his hand like he did before.

"Jungkook..." Jimin thought and began to feel dizzy from the headache that has been building up since the early morning. As soon as the king stepped away from him, the pain of his mating mark returned. With the way he became dizzy, the pain of his mark, and the torture of having Jungkook stand before him and say nothing, was enough to overwhelm the omega. Jimin was drowning in his own guilt.

Jungkook continued to walk forward as if he dragged his feet through quicksand. His body longed to be with his omega, his soul and his heart needed Jimin, but his mind needed clarity and healing before he could jump in so suddenly. Just as the king continued to walk, he thought to himself and looked at the ground in every pace he took far from Jimin.

"When you're ready, come to me... talk to me... look at me... but I will not come to you. Not anymore," the king thought as he walked further away from Jimin. "I will no longer chase you like before. I am no longer the desperate man that grew hungry for love. I... I will wait for you now, but if you take forever, I will no longer be available to you, Park Jimin. Let this be a reminder to you that my time is valuable as well. Not just yours. Return back to me if your heart belongs to me... don't return at all if you feel as if I took it without your permission."

Once the king thought this in his mind, he felt sure of separating himself from the omega. The way the swan teared up on the spot showed that he still had yet to mend his problems. Jungkook was still in the process of finding himself. Jimin on the other hand, showed how weak he was to his own stubborn mind. It wasn't going to be easy for him to get rid of that bad habit, but he wanted to try so badly to be a better omega for his king.

Instantly, Jimin's world grew blurry and his vision became unfocused. Just as the atmosphere around him grew darker, his head began to spin until he felt his eyes close and his body become so frail. Instantly. Jimin stumbled and fell over the hard ground with his eyes locked onto Jungkook walking away from him. Within seconds, everything closed in around him as he fainted on the spot. Not knowing if Jungkook truly chose someone else to marry that moment. But what scared him the most was the last memory he had of his alpha walking away from him before his body gave out.

Moments in silence stretched longer and longer. He heard shuffling and whispers as the cold ground underneath him became loose and comfortable. It was as if the ground below became gentle with only the kiss of rich silk meeting with his body. This alone gave Jimin the feeling that he wasn't lying in a usual cover over the ground. He was laying on an actual bed fit for a king.

"Is he going to be alright?"

"He just needs rest. He should be fine after. I am so glad I was in the crowd, waiting for my father to see him would have taken a while. But you're in luck I know so much about healing and medicine!"

"And for that I am thankful, Taehyung. Shall I... stay and wait for him to wake up?"

"Do you want to stay with him? The more you watch him rest, the more it will tempt you to rush... from what Yoongi told me, you're in no state to rush such an issue like this."

"Okay..."

"Okay."

After a while, Jimin woke up and searched around the familiar room. This was the king's chambers and the familiar place made the omega panic as to what happened during the selection. Yet, no matter how many questions he had and longed to ask Jungkook, the only one who sat there was Kim Taehyung himself. As soon as his eyes locked onto the young omega himself, he felt relieved and happy to see him.

"Taehyung..." Jimin spoke in a frail whisper.

"Oh Jimin! You're awake, I'm so glad you're doing alright now."

"H-How... How did I get here? Why am I on Jungkook's bed? How did you get here? What happened?"

"Ah, well I was also part of the final group of the selection! But I didn't see you until you fainted right on the courtyard. So, after that happened I stepped up to see if you were alright. You gave Jungkook such a fright, but he had to compose himself and not show anything. It was really hard for him. But, he allowed the guards to put you in his chambers and I came in to help make sure you weren't dead!" Taehyung answered and assured Jimin everything as he let out a laugh. "It was so nerve racking!"

"I fainted... ah, I knew those feelings felt off to me! Taehyung, I-I've been avoiding you... I've been avoiding you because I fear I'm dying!"

"Dying?! Ah, Jimin you are so clueless! Even a normal person would see that these symptoms can't be linked to a deadly illness without a fever. You are not dying."

"Then, what did I have?" Jimin asked as he rubbed his head gently. "I have headaches, fatigue, hunger after eating my usual meal, morning sicknesses... shortness of breath and I just can't handle this! When will this go away?"

"I.." instantly Taehyung threw his hands up and shrugged. The omega wanted to say so much more, but he didn't know how to say it. He held back on the words he was asked to bring up and only thought about it longer when it came to what Jimin truly had.

"It's weird, I expected you to know what was wrong with me... but will I ever have the confidence to ask your father? I don't know if I can..." Jimin whispered softly and placed his hand over his mark. "I want to know, but I'm so afraid."

Taehyung knew the truth, he knew something Jimin didn't and held his tongue. He didn't know how Jimin would react when there was so much going on in the omega's head. Even Taehyung himself was afraid to deliver the news. The young omega was the type of person who would care so much about everyone to the point where he would always think before he speaks to anyone. But when it came to the upcoming news of what Jimin truly had, Taehyung was silent since he didn't really think about it at all in order to say something.

"Jungkook, I'm such a mess... no wonder you're still waiting for me to sort myself out. If you thought I was ready, you would be sitting right by my side..." Jimin spoke to himself as Taehyung looked at his brother figure with sympathy. The eyes of the young omega carried worries for him as he continued to think of the two in their tricky relationship. Their love was a puzzle they had yet to find the pieces to, but until then, they took their time to understand it before rushing everything they worked so hard to understand.

"What happened between the two of you? I thought he was going to choose you today and get it over with, but he canceled the selection before it could even begin! And after you fainted, he canceled it and allowed you to rest on his bed while the servants tried to take you to another room. But he made sure you stayed right here. Then he allowed me to help since I was standing in the crowd. However, he never left your side at all while I stayed to make sure you were well. It was until then he realized it was better to go."

"I thought... I thought he would choose someone other than me to marry. I was so worried of the outcome I cried as he looked me in the eyes. I want to do so much more for him but it's so difficult! He has always wanted to love me from the start but I chose power over love... I contributed to our issues... he was too demanding when he became so desperate, and I was too stubborn when I became so obsessed with having power over an alpha. I'm so sorry..." Jimin suddenly began to cry and cover his eyes.

"What are you doing now? Why don't you tell him these things? I know you'll rush the process of recovery... but maybe, your road to recovery shouldn't be faced alone. You've been very dependent from the start of your life but you secretly fooled yourself into thinking you were independent. You wanted to become independent so badly because of the circumstances as an omega, you lied to yourself all along until your stubbornness became part of you. You're not independent in this situation, you need Jungkook to talk about this."

"But... we need to work on ourselves. This can work!" Jimin continued but watched Taehyung shake his head after.

"Is that what you think? Or is that what you know? It's working for Jungkook, but who says it will work for you too? Jimin, you need him... you need him to understand the bigger picture in this situation. Beating yourself up and saying you're at fault will only make it seem as if you caused all the issues yourself when in reality, you both fed into this. You need clarity," Taehyung told Jimin and walked up to the omega. "When you need him most, return to him... talk to him because you need to realize the life you'll have when he turns you away from the dark and brings you to the light."

With those caring words Taehyung spoke, Jimin felt his heart pound as he heard the name of his alpha. He sighed to himself and eventually knew what he had to do, but he was scared of confrontation after so much. He knew Jungkook was now his remedy, but deep down his stubborn ways wanted Jungkook to come to him. But when he approached him at the selection, he couldn't help but to break down and blame himself for everything. Jimin now needed his remedy.

Just as the two spent a moment in silence after Taehyung's words, Yoongi stepped in and looked at the omega sitting over the bed. "Jimin, how are you feeling?" His voice echoed in the room and finally brought Jimin back from his thoughts.

"I-I... I'm feeling much better now," Jimin answered and pulled the covers away before he stood up right after. "Did Jungkook ask you to check up on me?"

"Yes, he did. You know him so well. He also wants me to escort you back safely to your home. I'll be ready when you are."

"Okay." Jimin replied and began to walk forward before he stopped at the doors where Yoongi stood. "Tell Jungkook... that I thank him for today and I will talk to him soon."

"You have my word," Yoongi answered. With that, Jimin left the room first as Yoongi stood behind and walked up to the young omega standing by the bed. "I will be more than happy to walk you back to your residence as well, Taehyung."

"O-Of course," Spoke the omega as he grew silent in seconds. Yoongi noticed Taehyung knew something deep down, but he couldn't help but to become curious at a time like this.

"Taehyung... is there something wrong with Jimin? Do you know something? You look so pale."

"It's about Jimin. I'm going to ask you a simple favor, Min Yoongi," whispered the omega as he approached the alpha slowly. "Please take care of Jimin... please guard him and escort him. Make sure he's alright. I want you to keep an eye out for him."

"Why are you asking this now?" Yoongi questioned and watched the young boy step in closer to whisper into his ear. "Why must I protect him like this?"

"I say this because... Park Jimin is pregnant."
