Author's Note <3 pt. 2
Man, this is a long time coming. Thank you so much everyone who is making it to The King's Sparrow from The Lost Princess.
****And for those who have not finished The Lost Princess, your one and only spoiler warning starts here. ;)
In the first book, we focused mainly on Amara and her struggles with trust, learning to allow herself to realize she deserves to be loved. Understanding, that you can be forgiven for the mistakes you've made and beginning to deal with and manage the trauma she has experienced.
But this second book is going to deal with a different batch of personal issues. In this book, Earwen will step into the much-deserved spotlight. She will manage the separation from those she leaned on and come into her own. Prove that she has something to offer even though she is often overlooked. Learn how to forgive an enemy and make them a friend. Learn boundaries and when to admit wrongdoing, among many other things.
Again even though the fantastical elements of this story abound, I wish for the story to have the relatability of a writer like John Greene. I want everyone to see themselves and their own life experiences in these characters.
I have come to a point in my life, where I no longer relate the most with Amara. With my healing, I have found myself drawn to Earwen, which has heavily influenced the turn of focus to the elf princess. She is far from perfect, but she is so self-aware and kind. This is something I strive for after several years of upheaval that nearly made me give up on my characters and their stories. So again I implore you, dear reader, remember you are not alone. All is not lost.
