Evidence

(Wendy's POV)

I can't sleep, I haven't been able to sleep. I didn't hear a word from Irene in a day. That's not like her. She comes over everyday and texts me nonstop. I told my parents how worried I am for her but they kept saying that her parents probably took some time off and taken her out of town.

I seriously doubt that. She doesn't even seem close to them in fact she doesn't even look like she likes them. I know they make her uncomfortable but I don't really understand why. Probably because they are dicks. I lay in bed staring at my phone for the past 24 hours.

That's it! I'm not going to be sitting around waiting for my best friend to call me. I don't ever wait for a guy to call me so I'm not going to be waiting for Irene's text. Getting up I put on my ripped leggings, loose dark gray shirt that says 'too cool for school', and my black vans. I hold my phone tightly determined to find her.

Leaving my room walking quickly down the stairs I think about all the places where I should go first. I'll start with her house just in case they haven't left or decided to keep her locked away in her room. Reaching the living room my mom gave me a questionable look.

"Where are you going sweetie? It's 7 in the morning."

"I'm going to Irene's house." I said motivated clenching onto my phone.

My mom's eyes brightened, "she's back in town already?"

I shrugged, "I don't know if she even left. She better have or else she's going to have to deal with me."

She rolled her eyes smiling, "Don't stay out too late and if you do call please." Bowing to her I quickly left taking my car driving to her house. I didn't want to waste any time I need to make sure she's okay. I reached her house and my heart nearly dropped. There is police all around her house preventing anyone to enter.

I quickly parked running towards the house. I pushed two policemen out of my way running inside the house. I shout Irene's name long and hard. I look at the ground and froze in fear, blood. There's a pool of blood in the living room with other little droplets all around the house as if an injured person was walking around. I saw beer bottles scattered all around the kitchen and shattered glass on the floor more against the wall.

Oh my god. Where is she?! Wanting answers a policeman grabbed onto my elbow tightly dragging me out of the house into the front yard on the side so no one can hear us.

"Fuck off of me!" I shouted yanking my arm away from him.

"What do you think you're doing?!"

"I'm looking for my friend! Where's Irene? Was she injured?" I stared at him with fearful eyes. He just stares at me staying quiet. "Answer me!"

"Hey! Don't raise your voice at me young lady." I crossed my arms rolling my eyes, "and to answer your questions is we have no idea where your friend might be. The blood on the ground is not your business and our records show that her father remarried."

I nodded in agreement because so far that's true and he continues, "We found cocaine in the kitchen not very well hidden including marijuana. From the looks of it the man of the household seemed to have gotten into a nasty fight with his wife." I gasped, my poor Irene.

"What about the blood? Whose is it?" he shook his head wanting to stay quiet. "Sir please I want to understand everything. She means so much to me."

He sighs in defeat which gives me a satisfying smile, "The blood belongs to the stepmother. Her body was chopped up and is scattered all around the house. Our best guess is the Sir was trying to get her to quit he drank too much for that night and snapped on her. Beaten her to death and chopped her body and took Irene running away."

I felt terrible, Irene was going through all of this and she never said a word. She just kept smiling everyday as if it would be her last. Oh my Cherry I want to hug you so bad. As I stare at the officer I noticed that his story doesn't make sense.

"You said that he got drunk and blacked out because he was trying to make her quit? If that were true why would he provide the money for her in the first place? Irene took lots of classes for behavior development issues and there was a chapter including drug addicts. Since she was a addict like how you said she would have been too lazy to get a job herself because she wants things that she can't really afford. Also, you said the drugs was poorly hidden. If her husband was trying to get her to quit wouldn't she have hidden it better? In fact wouldn't he try hiding it from her?"

He tried to stop me but I continued, "Plus the bottles of beer. You said that he drank and blacked out for that night but have you seen the payments he made? I bet you there was more beer in the fridge and especially in the trash bin outside." The policeman just smirked at me as if I figured out the secret. I get a weird vibe from him, he's really sketchy.

"Thank you so much for telling me everything. You really helped me. I hope you find Irene soon and please call me first if you have found anything about her."

He nods, "Of course, may I get your number for future purposes."

I hesitated for a second not wanting to give him anything personal about me but I do need to know if Irene will be found. He pulls out his phone handing it to me. I opened the notes application and put my phone number with my name. I handed his phone back and quickly walked away as he took it back.

Jogging to my car I start it up and looked at him from the corner of my eye and see him on the phone with someone disappearing to the back of the house. I swear if he had anything to do with the disappearance with Irene I will kill him myself.

Wendy knows that the officer is hiding something, but why would he hide anything? Do you think it was a bad idea that she gave him her personal number?
