Broken Home

I run as fast as I can. Towards the man that I do not know and cannot see. He's wearing dark armor, my knight in shining armor, in black. I'm running towards his wide open arms away from what is supposed to be called home. Something that hasn't felt like home in years. I'm in his arms now and he sooths me. "No one can harm you now, you're mine." I tilt my head up prepared for the passionate kiss I so desperately needed.

I hear a loud ring go off next to my bed on the nightstand. I quickly turn it off before my 'parents' hear anything. You've got to be kidding me. Dreamt the same thing for almost two weeks now. What does it mean? Nothing of course, it's a dream. I look over at my nightstand where my phone is and check the time. 4 a.m. perfect just enough time to get ready and go to Wendy's house.

I get up from my bed and walk over to my closet to pick out my uniform and my favorite shoes. I get dressed quickly knowing that Wendy lets me use her makeup and hair products. I get my phone silencing it grabbing my backpack and slowly leave my bedroom quietly. As I make my way down the hall I accidently run into her, my step mother.

"Look at you, the princess wakes up early." she says crossing her arms glaring at me.

I know she hates me, she hated me the day she met me and that was when I was 13, I'm 18 now. She has never been kind to me. Of course my dad knows and doesn't care, he hasn't cared about me since the day my mother became ill when I was 8 and passed away from stomach cancer when I turned 11. I walk past her not saying anything grabbing my keys.

"You little bitch I was speaking to you. You don't want me to involve your father in this now do we?" She gives me a devilish grin.

Please, don't involve him. "No please don't, I'm sorry." I softly bow to her. She response with a fake smile and begins to pull out cocaine getting ready to do her morning dose. I leave the house quickly not wanting to see any of that again. I walk to Wendy's house and each day I always ask myself. How much more can I handle?

If I'm going to be completely honest I stay only for one reason, my best friend. She knows I have family problems but I can never tell her with what I deal with. Wendy would tell her parents and my parents would be sent away. I just can't have that, they're my only family. My father is the only blood relative I have left.

As I walk down 7 blocks I can already spot Wendy's house and it fills me with relief. I quickly run to her house and get the spare key that they hide inside the flower pot. I make my way upstairs up to her bedroom and sneakily walk into her bedroom door. And I can still see Wendy sound asleep so I lightly shake her.

"Wakey wakey eggs and bakey." I say softly to her.

"Bakey? As in bacon? Where?" she says with a sleepy voice waking up rubbing her eyes.

I smile, "In the fridge, frozen."

"Well that's just a cruel joke." she rolls over and grabs her phone checking the time. "4:45 a.m. you do know we go into school at 8:30?" she says eyeing me and I shrug at her. "I swear you just come earlier and earlier each day in the morning." she playfully pushes my arm and I giggle.

"I missed my best friend, plus it take you two hours just to apply eyeliner."

"Hey! That is the most easiest makeup mistake any girl has." she says with a burst of energy. "Since you woke me up go make some breakfast, Ms. I Never Make A Makeup Mistake." she mocks. I smile at her and push her gently and I make my way to the kitchen.

Within 40 minutes I made enough breakfast for me, Wendy, her parents, and her twin brothers.

I then start to hear running down the stairs.

"I smell bacon!" the twins shouted in excitement and I laugh from their outburst. While their parents walk in with a wide smile.

"Well breakfast is served." I say gesturing to the table. Wendy's mom walks over to me and places her arm on my shoulder.

"Never forget you're always welcomed here." I smile my toothy smile and sit down on the dining room chair waiting for Wendy. The moment she showed up we immediately digged into the food. Breakfast with the Son Family is always filled with laughter and storytelling.

Breakfast was finished and Wendy and I started to get ready for school and cleaned her room up a bit. Saying goodbye we took the long way to school which takes over an hour, we're fine with it mainly because we see more flowers this way, watch the sun light up the trees with life but most importantly to have more alone time together.

"Can you believe it? We literally have two days left of school and then we're done" she says throwing her arms in the air. "We should do something to celebrate." she turns her head staring right at me with excitement.

I squint my eyes at her "I know that look in your eye, that's your I have a plan and you have to do it look."

"Because I do! Here." she hands me an ID card with my picture on it. I stare at her in confusion. "We are going clubbing tonight."

"Like heck we are I rather spend the night with pizza."

"C'mon please it's Friday you always spend the whole weekend at my house." I stay silent eyeing her. "You have to go. I'm Wendy and you have to do what I say." she said crossing her arms.

"So stubborn." I roll my eyes, "Fine, I'll go but I get to choose the dress."

"Yes! This going to be so much fun!"

"But I just need to go home first if you don't mind. I need to get my phone charger."

"Okay, that's fine we'll go over after school."

I got a nervous feeling like something bad will happen. Something that is never supposed to happen to anyone. I look over at Wendy she's so excited, I will only do this for her.

Sorry the first three chapters are slow but I promise you it gets better. This is my first story ever so I'm a bit nervous. Why do you think Irene is scared? What awaits her on her long night with Wendy?
