DAHYUN'S POV
I am out of words right now, literally. I am immobile when Mina mentioned my name. I am stunned and confused at the same time.
"We aplogize for being a little latish, halapeoji." Tae oppa bowed and apologized in a formal way, so I also did, but I'm still not over of the fact that Mina is here. It won't sink in inside my head.
"Apology accepted." Grandpa said and the bodyguards led us to our chairs. I glanced at Jin oppa and noticed that he's stealing glances from Mina.
Even though things are not sinking inside my head right now, the only thing that I am sure is that Mina is the girl that Jin oppa is marrying. If she would be my sister-in-law and Jimin would be my husband, everything will be a complete disaster. Our family is damned if she's marrying Jin oppa.
Tae oppa pulled a seat for me and I sat down. He did the same for him and we all locked our eyes to grandpa, but I can't help but to think of Jin oppa and Mina's arrangement. It keeps on bothering me from time to time.
"I apologize for my grandchildren's tardiness." Grandpa said to the Myouis.
Mina's dad smiled, "It's alright with us, Director Kim." They said something about business after grandpa's apology and asked for the contract for their deal.
"Minki, the contract." Grandpa asked and his bodyguard immediately gave it to him. He opened the folder and told them everything that is inside the contract. There's a few rules and regulations about their marriage and I also heard some things about the partnership. After discussing what would be their deal is about, they introduced us to Mina. It's pretty awkward when grandpa introduced us to each other because I already know her. And I'm sure that she still hates me for "stealing" Jimin from her.
"Therefore, Seokjin, my grandson and an eligible bachelor, will be arranged into marriage to the Myoui family's unica hija, Mina." Grandpa said and shook hands with Mina's dad. "When shall the wedding take place?" He asked.
"Director Kim, didn't you say that your granddaughter is going to marry for business, too?" Oh, dang it. I can feel Mina's intense stare at me even though I'm looking away from her. "Why don't we have a double wedding instead?" Shoot. I wanted to say no to them, but that would be rude and disrespectful to them. I seriously want to run away from this place right now.
"It's a good idea, but I still have to discuss her marriage with her after our meeting, Mr. Myoui." Grandpa glanced at me swiftly and returned his gaze to the Myouis again. That quick glance from my grandpa made me nervous all of a sudden. They talked about something before ending their discussion.
"We will provide 2 bodyguards to look after your daughter starting tomorrow and my grandson will bring her to school everyday from now on." What? The three elderlies laughed together after what granddad say, though he's really serious of what he said. "We will know if the two of you are dating or not." I know the feeling of being looked after. You have to be together always because there will be someone spying the two of you which is annoying.
"We will leave the two of you, okay, dear?" Mrs. Myoui said and kissed her daughter's cheek. "We already told Director Kim to tell the school head that you're excused for the whole day." Mina seemed uncomfortable when she looked at Jin oppa who is continuously smiling at her. "Have a good date." They bid their good byes to their daughter and left her with Jin oppa. Me and Tae oppa kept silent.
The elderlies went outside for a moment to talk about something important, as usual. It's akward to be sitting in a room with Mina. There's history between the two of us.
"U-Uh, let's go?" Jin oppa broke the ice. Mina had no choice but to go with him and me and Tae oppa were left inside.
"You know Mina, right?" Tae oppa's voice made me almost jump on my chair. I was surprised when I heard his deep voice. "Is there something wrong between the two of you? I noticed how you look away from her gaze earlier."
I had no choice but to tell everything what happened between me and Mina. I also involved Jimin since he's the reason why Mina hates me like hell.
"There's no turning back for Jin." He whispered and looked at me. "You saw how he looked at her. For sure, he has a crush on her already." He then crossed his arms and looked somewhere far. "And granddad will be furious if the arrangement will be called off. Granddad doesn't want to be embarrassed infront of the others." He's right. Tae oppa is completely right. I think I just have to adjust if Mina will be officially joining our family. I just wish that she will not declare a war between us. I'm tired of fighting her.
After a little while, grandpa returned and sat on the middle of the table. He lit his cigarette and placed it on the ash tray for a while.
"Kim Dahyun." Just by how serious and low his voice is, I can tell that he's unhappy about something. "I heard you wished to marry Park Jimin." He glanced at me and I suddenly can't breathe because of anxiousness. I'm afraid of what might happen next. "He's a criminal. Why would you marry a criminal, Dahyun?" He asked and started smoking. "I know that you lived in the slums before; in a small apartment, specifically. Is that what you saw before? You saw prostitutes marry criminals? Is that what you're trying to do now?" He asked, almost shouting. I wanted to explain my side, but I think he's too mad at me for marrying Jimin. I trembled in fear and my eyes released little tears. I wiped my falling tears and remained silent. "Are you a prostitute, Kim Dahyun?"
Tae oppa stood up, "Granddad, that's too much."
"This does not concern you, Kim Taehyung so sit down!" He yelled, but Tae oppa stood still, so I held his coat and gave him a meaningful look. He looked at me worriedly. Grandpa suddenly stood and pointed me his finger while shouting in anger, "ARE YOU A PROSTITUTE, KIM DAHYUN?!"
"Granddad, you're making her feel scared." Tae oppa hugged me while I just cried on his chest.
"Your dad should've not taken you! He should've not impregnate your slutty mother! You're a disgrace of the Kim family!" I cried even more when he mentioned my mom's name. I feel like I'm an unwanted child after what granddad told me. I don't usually feel scared about these kind of things because I know that I'm strong, but I feel like I lost all of my bravery and strength because of grandpa's words. My heart is pierced.
"Is that why you invited us over, granddad?" Tae oppa asked. It was disrespectful to answer him back, but Tae oppa still did. "You're an old jerk." He said and helped me to stand up. He continued caressing my back until we got in the car.
All of what grandpa said...it hurts me emotionally. I feel like their lives would be better if I wasn't born. I feel like it's better for them and for me to stay away from them.
"Dahyun, don't ever listen to what granddad said. He won't understand your situation." I felt Tae oppa kissed my hair. He tried his best to comfort me.
*
Once we reached our house, I rushed towards my room and threw myself to bed. I curled myself and cried again.
"Don't worry, grandpa. I will stay away from your family from now, if it makes you feel better." I whispered to myself and dozed off.
