I reached my home and switched on the lights. I put my bag on the table and went to the bathroom to freshen up. After 15 minutes, I came out and went to the kitchen to make something as I was feeling very hungry. I found some carrots and capsicum so I decided to make pasta and with it, I chose to eat garlic bread. I was making my pasta while humming a tuneless song when I got a call.
I went near my phone and it showed "Mom". I excitedly picked it up and said
"Hello mom"
"Hello Jia! How are you my dear?" She asked
"I am fine, how are you?" I said
"I am fine too sweetie" She replied
"How's dad and Nina" I asked
"They are good but they miss you" She said with a rather sad tone
"Oh mom! Please don't be sad and tell them that I will come soon" I said giving assurance to her
"You just say so but never come. It's been 3 months since you last met us" She replied
"It's not like that mom. I promise that when I will solve this case, I will come home" I said
"Really! That's like my daughter" She said happily
I chuckled and said
"Ok mom, I will call you later. Byee"
"Byee darling" She said and I hung up
I missed my family too but due to work I had to travel to different places away from them. I switched off the gas and poured my pasta into a bowl.
I sat down on the couch and ate my dinner watching TV. After sometime, I had finished my dinner and stood to got up when the doorbell rang.
"Who could be here at this time" I murmured
I went towards the door and opened it being cautious and alert.
To my surprise, there was no one outside except some stray dogs and the street lights that were flickering.
"Is this a kind of a prank or joke?" I said to myself feeling outraged by this action
I was about to close the door when I noticed a note lying at the doorstep.
I picked it up and went inside. I opened it and it said :-

"Try as hard as you can sweetie but you can never catch me!"

I crushed it and said
"You will see how this sweetie turns into a baddie to catch you!"
