Chapter 8

I wait on my bed till Amara walks in.

"Your highness the ball is starting you and your girls must head down." She says

"Alright thank you" I  say standing up I slowly walk down to the ball room. Daisy and Kacey are already waiting.

Daisy's wearing a yellow ball gown with her  long blond hair in a braid a small daisy clip in her hair.

Kacey in a dark blue mermaid dress her red hair curled a bit.

"Girls! You look beautiful!" I gasp walking in.

"You do to!" Daisy says walking over.

"I'm not excited to dance. My feet will hurt for days!" I complain.

"Your feet will be fine" Kacey reassures me.

"I hope. What time will everyone be arriving at?" I ask

"Soon" My mother answers walking in in her blood red dress she has Rosie with her.

"Rosie! You look beautiful!" I smile looking at her pink dress completely ignoring my mother.

"Thank you!" Rosie says running towards me giving me a huge hug. I pick her up.

"Are you excited" I ask with a bigger smile.

"Yes!" Rosie giggles.

"That's good!" Daisy says coming up beside me.

"Do you think Ill find a prince?" I ask

"Yes!" Rosie exclaims.

"That makes one of us" I mutter under my breath.

"You will do fine!" Daisy reassures me.

"I hope so." I agree.

"ma'am some princes have arrived" A knight says walking in.

"Alright" Mom says walking over to the knight.

"Welp. Its now or never" I tell the girls walking over to Rosie's chair I place her down. The ball room is huge. A stage like thing at the back on it has 5 throne/chairs. Mom and Dads in the middle, mine beside dads then Daisy beside me Rosie's in beside moms. Daisy walks over to hers. I walk to mine. Kacey stands awkwardly beside my throne. After about 10 minutes at least 30 princes and knights are there.

"That's a lot of people" I whisper to Kacey. She nods.

"Iris you have to dance" My mother says coming over to her throne.

"Ughhh fine" I stand up and walk as slow as I can down to the dancefloor. As I walk down everyone starts to stare.

I hate people

A couple boys walk closer. "May I have this dance?" One asks.

"I suppose" I fake a smile. He grabs my hand and waist. I hold my breath.

"So. Your going to be queen soon." He says as we start to dance.

"Excellent observation skills" I role my eyes.

"Your not very nice" He notes.

"I barley know you and I'm supposed to marry you." I hiss.

"I guess that's true. If you nicer it would be easer" He tells me.

"I don't need your help and I don't care" I snap walking away. Kacey rushes forward.

"Not the one?" She asks.

"I hate all of them! I don't want to marry any! I don't even want to be queen!" I yell. Half of the boys turn eyebrows raised.

"Iris you don't mean that" My mother says jaw clenched.

"Oh but I do!" I yell at her. "You never asked me if I wanted this! You never asked how I felt about marriage! All you care about is your perfect little family! Well let me tell you this. I DON'T CARE!"

My mother's face turns red. " IRIS!" She screams.

"What mother? What are you going to do? Your already making me marry someone I hate what else can you possibly do?" I yell turning and storming away.

"Go off sista!" One of the boys yells and starts to clap. After awhile the ballroom is filled with clapping. I turn around slowly.

"What is going on here?" I ask to no one but one of the boys answers.

"Many of us didn't want to marry either. You were the only one to speak your mind." He says. I just nod walking out.

Maybe next time mother

I walk to my bedroom in silence the sound of my footsteps echoing of the floor.
