Chapter 2- The hunt

I flung myself into my bed with a sigh and rolled over onto my stomach. That mission was boring and that person was.... ugh don't even get me started. I know Josh will be asking for me soon to hear how the mission went but for now I'm just gonna stay here and not move ever again.

Josh- the guy that turned my life into a living hell but also saved me.

~ ten years ago~

I sprinted down the street the only sound was the thumping of my shoes  as they hit the ground. I turned yet another corner and into a deep cold and dark alleyway. I started losing speed  but knew I couldn't stop now. Not if I wanted to see the light of day again. The cold dark musty night could have been any better for my situation. Cold, dark mysterious.

I could hear HIM laughing everywhere. It didn't come from a specific direction it was just everywhere and continuously echoed. It bounced off the walls that surrounded me. I ran down the alley as fast as I could and came to an abrupt stop. Shit it's a dead end.

I turned to run back when I see a dark figure start approaching me. I backed up until the cold wall hit my back. Shit I'm cornered. And me being the eight year old little girl that is just under five foot, I'm shaking out of my skin. I'm so scared I forgot how to breathe it just kinda like ' breathing what's that I've never heard of this thing you called breathing please do teach me. ' ya no.

The man continued walking towards me until he was right in front of me. My breathing hitched as he stared down at me. Hell no stay away from me sir. He proceeded to crouch down in front  of me. " Hey there how about you come with me and we can " he paused and looked at me up and down. I had a look of innocence but also of beauty. But you could tell I did something no one should ever do.

" s-stay a-away " my voice came out shakes as I reached my hand behind me so something I had hidden on me. I slowly pulled it out and brought it to his head. He backed up quickly and looked at me. " Hey come on now put that thing down before you hurt someone"

I took a deep breath my hands visibly shaking along with the gun. " I already have. " the man then lunged at me and out of fear I pulled the trigger and hit him in the heart.

Again blood

More and more blood

Blood- the substance the spills out at an uncontrollable rate when you get hurt or in this case shot. It is the mark of deaths and before you know if she will wrap her cold arms around you and engulf you into the never ending space. It can be painful or can be like nothing happened. It's all in fates hands.

The man's body hit the ground with a thud  that seamed to ring through the air along with the sound of the shot. Repeating and repeating and repeating. Endlessly. Why it's just like with mommy and daddy. I fell to my knees with the gun in my hand as my breathing became heavy.

< about four hours ago>

I skipped into the house. " mommy daddy" I called after I put my backpack on the kitchen table. I looked in every room. The kitchen... nope..... living room.....nope. ..... dining room.... nope...... laundry room..... nope...... study....... nope. Where are they? I walked upstairs and heard a crash. That's when I ran to mommy and daddy's room. They door was wide open so I walked one step in when I heard a bang.... then another. Mommy looked at me as she fell over and whispered " run sweetie "

I then turned and ran. I ran and ran until my legs became tiered and then some. Once I knew no one was following me I sat down on the grass. I don't think I'm in a good area but what else can I do.

Then a man approached me and sat down next to me. " Hey there cutie my name's Kevin what are you doing out here all by yourself. " I didn't answer and looked at my feet. I then felt something cold on my thigh as it slowly made circles and started going higher and higher.

My head snapped up and looked at Kevin who only had a big smile on his face. I tried pushing his hand off but I couldn't. He then pushed me down so my back was on the grass and he held both of my hands above my head. I began thrashing about trying to get out from under him but no matter how hard I tried I just couldn't.

I tried screaming but as soon as I opened my mouth his hand snapped over it and he whispered into my ear. " say anything brat and ill kill you"  I continued moving about as one of his hands started to slid up my shirt. No no no.

As if sent by God well probably the devil now that I think about it. A car came driving down and honked as it passed. This scared Kevin nd he jumped up and flipped off the guy. I took this as my chance and got up and started running again. Tears once again  began free falling as they fell from my face.

Why why why. Mommy and daddy got hurt. That man tried to do something to me bad to me. Why me.

< back to where she was in the alley>

After sitting there for what seemed like hours of tears free falling on my face I heard the sound to shoes coming my way. I looked up as I tried to suppress my sniffles and whipped my eyes. There stood a boy maybe around eleven along with another older looking man. He looked as if he could be his father.

The older man pulled out a gun and pointed it at me but the small boy spoke up. " father why don't we use her instead of killing her. From the looks of it I would say she killed this man. She could be useful " his father paused and studied my and everything around me.

" very well Josh because you suggested it she is your responsibility. " the boy, who I guess is Josh nodded and stepped over the man and into a pool of blood and walked over to me.

" Hey there my name's Josh what's yours" he said in a voice that showed no emotion. I looked into his eyes but all I could see was darkness. " i-its A- " I paused what if he knows the man who killed mom and dad? " it's A-Alex. " I said between sniffs.

" well Alex follow me if you don't want to die " he said it as if it was an everyday matter, as if he was used to dealing with situations like this.  It that even possible?
