Chapter 2

As I sat  alone in the darkness of the milk cart, I heard foot steps. I heard Aaron's voice. I hoped that this was all a prank and someone got a recording of his voice. I heard him say, "What a pathetic kid, who eats lunch behind a milk cart?" I started shaking uncontrollably, maybe someone had a voice modifier? I had to think to myself, think positive, think positive. I started to talk to myself, "Demarcus it's alright, calm down, calm down, eat your lunch, eat your lunch." I stuffed my sandwich in my mouth to stop myself from thinking so negative. I saw his new Jordan's from a small light source. I knew it was him, he was the only guy in the school who could afford Michael Jordan shoes, which are shoes that are $100 at the cheapest. I was now huddled up in the corner, with my knees touching my chin. I saw blinding light before my eyes. I felt insanely scared and unprotected when I saw Aaron's face. He spat on me, laughed, dragged me by the collar. My eyelids were heavy, he must have knocked me out. Once Aaron saw me awake, he laughed.

Then I realized my surroundings, I saw the schools bathroom. I already knew what was going to happen next, as I smelled the putrid smell of a bathroom stall. The stall door was slammed open, and I felt a rush of cold, disgusting air. I feel cold water touch my hair and face, I flinch, and feel air for a slight second, then I am dunked back under. Most people would vomit by even the thought of this, however, I've already been through this process, and worse.  Then I hear a voice this voice says,"Open your mouth, now! Drink it!" I looked up to hear Aaron say this, the shock so frightening I shivered in terror. I've never heard Aaron scream before. I willing open my mouth and swallow the repulsive toilet water. I knew that if I didn't this would become a situation no one would prefer to see. Then Aaron left, which was my cue to leave and I could leave unharmed.

I started to stand up, stopped, realizing my legs were bruised, and I couldn't get up. Aaron smirked, walker over, leaned over, and whispered in my ear, "You really thought I would let you off that easy, I didn't want you to run and tell your.... oops sorry, I was going to say friends, although it's clear you have none. If you even think about breaking this rule you can say good-bye to anyone who cares about you, don't tell anybody about this, and never ask me what's wrong with me, because clearly I'm perfect. The opposite of you, of course, because all you do is study and have no social life.  Well, I'm going to stop talking to you, it's ruining my social status, I'll only tell you, you missed lunch and sixth period is almost over." Aaron left, and I was on the bathroom floor alone.

After thirty minutes, I finally had the strength to stand. I was late to my seventh period class, which only had fifteen minutes left, after receiving a lunch detention for the next week. I stopped at my sixth period class, and asked what I missed, and I missed a quiz review, a large amount of papers and chapters to read, for now homework.  I looked at the time, and realized it was 3:45 PM, I had missed my bus. I had no other choice then to walk home. I stuffed my papers into my backpack, ran out the school, and felt the cold winter air touch my fingers. I thought to myself, now what? I forgot it's winter! I grabbed my now useless skateboard and slammed it to the icy ground. I yelled, "What should I do now?!" I saw a misty cloud surround myself as I was screaming. My voice became raspy as I repeatedly screamed random statements.

I went back inside the school, and the refreshing heat hit my face. I stood there, took a few breaths, and then went to the from office. I asked the office if I could call my parents to take me home. She said yes, and I knew this choice would be worth it in the long run, in other words, I know she would be mad because of this, however, I'm not walking 21 miles. I picked up the cold plastic phone a typed in her number. I heard a nervous voice saying, "what did he do?" I started laughing, I realized it must have looked weird that I was laughing for no reason. I responded, mom it's me, I just needed a ride home, I missed my bus, and then everything went worse from there. Can you pick me up?" I thought she would respond, fine, it'll take a few minutes though. I heard this instead, "Sorry sweetie, there's no possible way I can pick you up soon enough. I have to work for at least 3 more hours if I want to take off work for your birthday. You know being an engineer is tough, epically when you work in another state from your home. Well, all I can tell you is call your dad, or you can call one of your friends. Again, I'm so sorry, I hope you can find a way to get home, I really hate doing this, but I have no other choice. I love you!" I responded, "I love you too! It's okay, it's not your fault."

She cheerfully stated, "Bye!" the next thing I knew, I was listening to static and silence. I saw the lady working at the office giving me a look full of pity. She said, "You're welcome to stay as long as you like until your parents arrive." She ended that statement with a smile, she obviously tried to hard, so her cheeks oddly bent. She said, "My name is Page sorry if that was a weird smile, I'm new at my job, I'll make up for you by getting you some hot coca and some chocolate chip cookies since you were outside for a while. If you want to, call your friends and mom back, and let them know you can stay until they are available to pick you up." I quickly responded, "Of course, I have no allergies by the way, and thank you, thank you so so much!!" The next thing I knew, I  was hugging Page, she seemed to enjoy the sign of kindness. When for once everything seemed okay, I saw a camera flash. Aaron was standing there, with his friends taking pictures of me hugging Page. I quickly backed away, I heard one of his friends say, "Post it on Instagram!" Aaron replied, "After it's on Twitter and Facebook" They all laughed and ran off. I knew this would result in a lot of weird looks and more loneliness.

After that, I called my mom and told her the good news. She said she would be at the office by 5:40 PM if traffic was slow. I told Page and she said, "Great, I'm really happy to hear that!" I hated how everything would always go bad when everything seemed fine. With my life, if everything is fine, something is going to go wrong really soon for you. I wanted to go some where away from here.  I've always wanted to go somewhere else for a while, although I never had the guts to do it. I would run away, then I would imagine the worried looks on the people who actually cared about me.
