Something Ahead
When he spoke, I immediately smiled. I recognized that voice.
"Ein right?"
He nods and then bows, " At your service, m'lady."
I chuckled while he regained his posture and smiled at me.
"I didn't expect that you'd be here tonight, Y/n. You do look quite elegant." He said as he drank the punch.
"Thank you, Ein." I giggled.
"Where are your brothers by the way?" He asked.
Weird. Why would he ask that?
"Oh, I didn't mean to be weird, Y/N. I just find your brothers intimidating." He said scratching the back of his neck, nervously.
I raised my brow and looked at him, "And why is that?"
He awkwardly chuckles and then looks down.
"Well, they can be very protective of you, and knowing your status as a Ro'meave..."
He lets out a heavy breath.
" They could easily wipe me out of existence." He said laughing lightly.
I found it weird that people always thought of our family as some sort of high power in society. I mean, remembering a few details from long ago, Derek, Aaron's father was one of the high men.
"Hmm. That's a bit exaggerated, don't you think?" I said as I raised my eyebrow at him.
He laughs and shakes his head.
"No. It's appropriate. Anyways, have you seen the history hall? It truly is amazing seeing what's left of the past." Ein said as he looked around.
"I've been there with Zane and had a revelation that our family dates back to the olden times. Like seriously, the names, the look, and the family composition. Except...there wasn't any of me except that strange Jury of Nine named Lilian the Silver Scythe. She kinda did look like me." I said shrugging.
"Drink madame?" A butler approached us.
I nodded and took the drink, "Thank you."
The butler nods and walks away. I took a sip and smiled.
"Punch. Perfect." I said, smiling.
I looked at Ein and caught him smiling at me.
"What?"
"You do know you're the most adorable among the Ro'meaves." He said before he drinks his punch.
I smiled, " Oh I know I do. I'm the cutest as well."
"Can't argue with that, princess," Ein said.
I looked up at him with a suspicious look. My eyes narrowed as I looked at him.
"Princess?"
He stepped back and then adjusted his suit.
"Well, I uhh...heard you're the Ro'meave's special princess? So, I thought you'd be fine with others calling you that?" He said in an awkward tone.
My brow furrowed at his words and stepped back.
"You're weird, Ein. Very weird."
"Well I uh-"
"ANGELA!" I heard one of my brothers call my name.
I turned around to see Garroth approaching me.
"Are you alright? You seem to be talking to a wall." He pointed out.
"What do you mean? I was talking to-"
When I turned around, Ein was gone and I was indeed facing a wall.
"But there was..."
"Baby sister, are you okay? I was watching from a distance and it concerned me." He said looking at me with worried eyes.
At this point, I didn't know if I would tell him that I was talking to Ein or make myself look like a fool.
"Is something bothering you?" He asked.
His eyes dart everywhere to check if there were enemies near me. It felt strange that Garroth was suddenly protective and looked very tense.
"Brother? Is something bothering you?" I asked him, watching his body tense all of the sudden.
The sudden alertness he had was really strange. What's going on with him?
~3rd Person POV~
Everyone around the castle was enjoying the party, but not the Ro'meave brothers. They were keeping a close eye on their sister. The sister they both knew...was different.
"Garroth?" Y/n said snapping Garroth from his thoughts.
"H-Huh... oh..." He looks at Y/n, unable to focus.
It seemed like Garroth was filled with many thoughts. He looks up and sees Zane watching them at the second floor. Zane's gaze never leaving them. Garroth shifts his gaze back to Angela and smiles warmly.
"I'm fine, baby sister." He said calmly, making Y/n sigh in relief.
She smiles, "Why don't we go meet the others and get food together?"
As they began to gather the others, Zane watches them. He's no stupid brother and he knows that Y/n might've saw something. He's seen the same trick before everything happened to Y/n.
~Zane's POV~
It pains me to see her like this. Unaware and...a bit naive?
"Yeah... They're like that."
"Uhh. Who are you talking to Y/n?" I asked her.
She looks at me with innocent eyes, "Hmm? Oh just my friend here. He's nice."
"He?"
"Just an imaginary friend, Zane." She said with an innocent smile.
Looking back, I believe she's facing the same situation and Garroth doesn't see it.
"Zane?"
I turned around and saw Kim. I gave her a cold look and then sighed. I watched her approach the railings and look down at the crowd. I have a feeling that she sees Garroth and Y/n with the others.
"Don't tell me it's something about her..?" She spoke in a worried tone.
"I know something's up with her and she's not fessing up. It makes me even more worried..." I sighed.
"You're worried that it'll happen again?" She asked.
I simply nodded and leaned on the column. I couldn't help but think about it.
"Knowing 'he's' back...it's..alarming. She's the only one who saw him before we travelled back here. And now, she's talking to the wall and I have a very bad feeling about it."
She sighs and looks down at the crowd, "She looks fine to me right now. Maybe we should just... relax. "
Kim looks at me, "Maybe she was giving herself a pep talk? I mean, I do those all the time."
"Yeah but you have a ghost with you to give you that pep talk." I said looking at her.
"I mean, even without Ghost, I still do those things. Maybe it's just that, Zane and you're just thinking too deep into her actions." Kim said crossing her arms.
"I still can't ignore that there still is a probability that it's something else and we're just allowing this to be swept under the rug."
"I-"
"Zane?"
I turned around and saw our dear friend Aphmau climbing up the stairs to approach us.
~Aphmau's POV~
Zane turned around and looked at me. I could tell both him and Kim were talking about something serious. For some reason, all I could see was a high priest talking to his prisoner or librarian friend. Zane looked tense and Kim had her brows knitted.
"What is it Aph?" He said.
I stepped on the last step and approached them.
"Your mother wants us all down at the dinning hall to get food before the other guests start coming into the room."
They looked at each other and nodded.
"Yeah. I guess all that talking made me hungry." Kim chuckled.
I smiled and nodded," Come on, let's go."
"Would there be cupcakes, Aph?" Zane asked enthusiastically.
"I saw some actually. Why don't we get some?" I said and they all looked excited.
"I bet you'd love what's served."
